    Good to see the explant shift or choosing against implants! There is a lifetime of future surgeries ahead with breast implants that isn't discussed... aged implant exchanges, capsular contractures, weighted implant breast lifts, plus numbness, etc (not to mention the very serious BII health issues).

    • @biiaware7579
      @biiaware7579 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, because my surgeon admitted he did not remove all of it. In fact, after I had them removed, it was determined that virtually all of the capsule was left behind. Very little was removed.

    Do I have to get capsules removed? I wonder why you didn’t get them out in the first place

    • @biiaware7579
      @biiaware7579 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes capsule removal is important. There is still debate amongst different medical providers but much evidence suggests they can continue to provoke an immune response (capsules found to contain many of the leeched materials from the implants, and the capsules are the tissue where the cancers associated with implants tend to grow, plus there are other complications documented in medical literature associated with leaving capsules behind). For me capsules made a big difference after removal, especially in symptom resolution. You can go back and watch older videos, but I DID ask my original surgeon to remove full capsules. He told me he would try his best to do so and upon waking from surgery, I learned he did not remove the capsules. I waited a year before booking another surgery and seeing Dr. Chun for their removal; he was able to remove successfully and the difference was substantial. The lesson learned is go to a surgeon that is experienced and willing to show you their capsule removal work. Any surgeon that isn’t willing to show or stand behind their work with confidence, likely is not going to remove full capsules. It is a specialized skill set and a rare skill to find, few surgeons actually do it. Many, because they don’t believe it matters despite growing medical evidence that it does.

      Thinkerfary the capsule was supposed to be removed entirely by my original explant surgeon, but, for whatever reason it was not done. I’m unsure if it was simply due to insufficient skill or a lack of belief in its importance, but it didn’t get done. I did have breathing issues. Trouble getting a deep breath, often feeling like I was suffocating, episodes of throat swelling and difficulty breathing (anaphylaxis). Those have all resolved.

      Bonnie Zeleski I’m sorry to hear that. How long has it been. Healing is a marathon not a sprint for certain. Having a rupture or very old implants where silicone potentially migrated to other regions of the body can also complicate healing. I also am aware of numerous ladies (myself included) who were told capsules were all or mostly removed, only to discover upon exploratory surgery the capsules had been left inside. I have two friends recently removed capsules that were supposed to have been removed but were not. They are feeling remarkably better since the capsules came out. This is not the case for everyone and it is definitely a significant cost and the additional surgical risk must also be weighed..... wishing you well and hope your healing improves. Just to let you know the first year I had subtle improvements but I did not feel well until 2 years post explant and after capsules came out. Now at 3 years things are even better, but it was a slow and gradual process. I was not magically better after explant and the first year was very up and down. It wasn’t until 2 years that I really felt better, and now I feel near normal with the exception that I am very allergic to silicone now. I also am particularly sensitive to chemicals, drugs additive ingredients..... but avoidance has been an effective way of feeling normal without reactions.

      Stephanie Do yes it is because the surgery is much more complex, time consuming and difficult then implanting. The capsule tissue needs to be removed and and it grows into and adheres to nearby tissues, ribs, etc; removing it correctly and safely takes time and more effort then just popping them out, hence the price differential. But most women aren’t told this. The biggie is to get proper capsule removal; critical to health. Www.healingbreastimplantillness.com/explant has lots of information about proper explant
