For me FP runs about 400 times faster than C++ compiled in GCC and even faster than compiled Clang. The slowest is Clang... And this is on a new processor. By the way, if you compile C++ in OpenWatcom, it will be, a little, but faster than FP.

You applied no optimization switches for either g++ or fpc. This is a terrible benchmark.

I have both, yes for a very simple console program C is faster, BUT when you want to make a gui app and add some libraries , the speed of c++ RAPIDLY DROP, instead il lazarus remain almost the same. Plus building and deploying a c++ app is very demanding, instead object pascal is very simple. I would choose FPC over QT or MSVC almost all day for small medium projects, and even python if need. For corporation big things and games yes C++ is better, and for drivers of course because kernel is c
