ASA 2016 Ultrasound Guided Adductor Canal Block (blockade) Femoral Nerve Block (blockade)

Several Updates To This Video: Of note, the ultrasound image and illustration of the femoral nerve (time 0:34) incorrectly labels the fascia iliaca (FI) and likely the femoral nerve. Thank you to Andy Wilson for noting this error. The labeling of the femoral nerve is hard to discern definitively without live imaging; however, it does appear in this US image to be potentially just inferior and l...

ASA tutorial with live ultrasound imaging of a femoral nerve and adductor canal block
I feel bad commenting on this, but this is poorly researched. You should teach a small but separate blockade of the nerve to vastus medialis. Also, the catheter technique is at the femoral triangle and not adductor canal. Moreover, once your catheter starts going medial to the artery, the chances of good blockade decrease. You should’ve have restarted and gone below the saphenous if it’s going over the artery.
Thank you for the comment. There is no need to block the nerve to the vastus medialis separately if using standard volumes. All cadaver dye studies show this to be adequately covered if needing to block it for a TKA. The catheter is multiorofice
Дякую! 👍🏻
Great vid. Thanks!
That is a very nice presentation Dr D. I I learnt some stuff. Best wishes on your Fellowship.
Wonderful Video!
Why is it silent?!
How long do you intermittently inflate and deflate after the surgery?
We hardly put in a spinal anesthesis with lying patients. What happens when they sit upright?
damn that is cool!!
The live action injection video looks identical to the footage on another channel. Gonads
Why should the blood flow be stopped , why is tourniquet even used??
To prevent the systemic toxicity and to maintain the concentration of LA in the limb
Speed of injection was different though!?
Weirdly satisfying to watch! Thanks
Thank you for a very meticulous demonstration. Why do you recommend inserting the introducer at a cephalad angle?
Excellent video. Very well explained.

No voice is a drawback,Otherwise video is good

Why would anyone do an out of plane technique?
Many reasons. # 1 BEING When the entry point is difficult or not possible and when the view is good.

thanks for the video. current evidence doesnt support the use of out of plane techniques. is there a particular reason why do you still teach it in this blockade?
