The Undertones
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ม.ค. 2023
The Undertones formed in Derry, 1976, the result of five friends (John O’Neill, Damian O’Neill, Feargal Sharkey, Billy Doherty & Michael Bradley) learning how to play basic rock and roll. Rehearsing in Damian’s bedroom eventually led to the band recording John O’Neill’s ‘Teenage Kicks’ in 1978, a record that became a favourite of John Peel. Over the next four years they released more pop gems like `Get Over You’, ‘Here Comes The Summer’, ‘Jimmy Jimmy’, ‘You’ve Got My Number (Why Don’t You Use It!)’, ‘Wednesday Week’, ‘My Perfect Cousin’ & ‘It’s Going To Happen!’. They also recorded four highly acclaimed LPs with Feargal, toured the USA with The Clash and headlined several tours in those five years. In fact, they almost enjoyed the life of professional musicians. In 1983 Feargal left the band to pursue a solo career and the remaining members decided to call it a day. In 1999 the band reconvened, with fellow Derryman Paul McLoone replacing Feargal Sharkey. They continue to perform today.

The Undertones - Got to Have You Back

A Keystone Cops meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest setting for this tale of unrequited love from Derry's finest. Long big Motown fans this is a cover of an Isley Brothers' song and shows that there was more to the band than just pop punk. The Undertones - It's Going to Happen! (Official HD Video)
มุมมอง 763K13 ปีที่แล้ว
You are watching the official video for "It's Going To Happen!" by the Undertones. A typically energetic performance from Derry's finest on this top 20 single from 1981. The ambitious video recreates a silent movie filming set complete with the kind of bad puns that showcase the band's childlike sense of humour. The song though is a dark tale of friends `too slow to notice what's wrong'. The vi...
The Undertones - Wednesday Week

A slower than normal song for Derry's finest the Undertones but lead singer Feargal's tremulous heartfelt vocals and the band's catchy way with a melody and a lyric are all present and correct on this number 11 hit from 1980. The Undertones - There Goes Norman

2 minutes 22 seconds of classic pop punk. Never released as a single but a typically catchy joyous slice of life with the Undertones filmed in one of the band's bedrooms. The Undertones - The Love Parade
มุมมอง 96K13 ปีที่แล้ว
A 60s garage / Motown feel for this classic single from the band's last album with lead singer Feargal Sharkey in fine form. Less punky than the Undertones of 1979 but this bittersweet tale of a failed relationship still packs a punch and even includes a parade of tanks in the otherwise typically 80s video. The Undertones - My Perfect Cousin (Official Video)
มุมมอง 6M13 ปีที่แล้ว
One of the great pop singles of the early 80s with the kind of lines `he's got a fur-lined sheepskin jacket, my ma said it cost a packet', `he thinks that I'm a cabbage 'cos I hate University challenge' and the immortal `his mother bought him a synthesizer, got the Human League into advise her' that today's pop stars can only dream of writing. And the video is ace look out for the famous subbut...

2 and a half minutes of epic 😁
One of the all time great tunes
As the Brazilian band “Os Replicantes” sings in the song “Quero uma Festa Punk”: “Quero uma festa em que eu possa dançar Clash, Undertones e GBH Discharge no banheiro, Exploited na cozinha Conflict na escada e Vibrators no sofá”
Thank you. My favorite album by TV
Child hood favourite band, I was 9yrs in 74
Meant cum on brilliant 👏
Cum brilliant puck band
Poetic, lyrical and one of the most touching love/ hate songs between friends.
me
Summed up my bloody cousin this song when it came out....hated and loved it at the same time ❤️
What a song - timeless !
Touch of joy division
Thanks you furgal
Фергал Шарки неотразимый 😂
Outros tempos. História aqui. Sem frescura. Entenderam, sei que sim. A toda sorte atende. Ps: viram como o português bem aplicado e exibe? Se sim, meu número, mulheres, está aí.
Me
Resonates with me. I had a cousin who was always one step ahead of me. Last I heard of him, he was working in Asda! (Nothing wrong with that ofcourse).
Poor imitation of Blondie
When a song puts a smile on your face while looking back in anger, well that's an achievement.
pense que esta rola hablaba del fotbol, por las imagenes, nunca me imagime que hablara del primo fastidioso.
❤❤
How can anyone not like this song , the lyrics are just brilliant , and now good old Fergal he's campaigning for the quality of water in our rivers , top bloke
There's a reason Peel said this the greatest song ever
Sffs 🍺👍
"AND BIONICS!" So great.
If there is only one song to serve as an anthem for the New Wave era, this is it. Sorry Clash, Pistols, Jam, Cocks, Damned, Gen X, Elvis, Rats, and the rest.
Listen twice for John Peel.
Young Fergal Sharkey
Boy, what a load of bushwa…
Cool anthem
" he will never be left on the shelf, Cos kevin, he's in love with himself " Classic 😁
No more than a very poor 4,8K views for this masterpiece!? Ever since the very start in 1981 (at the age of 7) this song grabbed me. No one has a particular voice as Feargal Sharky has and this song makes that voice come true as no other. Especially those long swipes (?) are so unique yet strong and characteristic (as in 'Too slow too notice what's WRONGGG!. Two faced to you when you're taking them ONNN!' ).
Here from derry girls-->
It’s the greatest youth record of all time. Find me three minutes better of teenage unknowing and youthful magic summed up in a record. John knew. It’s a masterpiece. There has been nothing come close ever since.
Misfits Some Kinda Hate released in 1978 as well. Kinda similar
Best band to come outta norn' ire'...
Yea, I’m here too. This sounds as good in 2024 as it did in ‘78, and always will. See you in another 46 years!
Thinking of you, Mr. Peel!
Quality little chorus!
2024 ==== 2025
Teenage rampage now!
Fabulous tune...great days...62 now booooo
Great stuff..the good old days..simpler times better people.
Fabulous tune.!
Classic.!!
46 years ago today, October 21, 1978, 𝕋𝕖𝕖𝕟𝕒𝕘𝕖 𝕂𝕚𝕔𝕜𝕤 burst onto the scene and became an anthem for youth and rebellion. Its raw energy and unforgettable chorus still hit hard today, capturing the spirit of teenage love and freedom.
This was played on the radio on my 16th birthday along with a personal dedication.. I'm now 53 and 🤍 it as much as ever.
" I don't think Billy's parents even knew he was in a band" Read Mickey Bradley's Autobiography.... Ordered from my local library in Wood Gree. ✊
RIP Liam Payne as this song was remixed by One Direction with Blondie's One Way Or Another.
