    just take LCM of 18 and 24 which is 72. let us assume the distance is 72km and starting time is 12pm. So, if the distance is 72 km, then @ 18kmph it will take 4 hours (reaching at 4pm) and @ 24 kmph it will take 3 hours (reaching at 3pm) then, the required speed is = 72/2 => 36kmph in order to reach at 2pm.
