Also USV Eschen Mauren was named that way in 1965. FC Mauren existed from 1954 to 1959. FC Eschen was founded in 1960 and renamed to USV Eschen. Then they added Mauren to the mix years later.

With the expansion of the 3 European competitions, the 33rd ranked nation sends their cup winner to the Europa League qualifiers instead of the Conference League qualifiers. Guess what rank Liechtenstein was for determining this season's qualifiers? 34th. And that was 0.041 coefficient ranking points behind 33rd place Kosovo as well. Liechtenstein is dropping further down the rankings because their recent European history isn't great. Their ranking is propped up entirely by the 1 season they reached the group stages of the Conference League (where they scored 6.5 ranking points, every other season combined only contributes 1.5 ranking points), so if they don't have another big run, or at least 2 smaller runs in the next 2-3 seasons, their ranking will drop completely. However, Vaduz would not have to necessarily win the Conference League to make it to the Europa League because they could simply win a few qualifier games over a few seasons, boost their rank into the top 33 and get a spot in the Europa League qualifiers instead

It all goes back to the Holy Roman Empire and the intial body of independent Germanic nation states; which ironically -given the name- was because of the fact that the Romans were never able to completely occupy the area now known as Modern Germany. As Roman power in Gaul declined during the 5th century, local Germanic tribes assumed control. In the late 5th and early 6th centuries, the Merovingians, under Clovis I and his successors, consolidated Frankish tribes and extended hegemony over others to gain control of northern Gaul and the middle Rhine river valley region.By the middle of the 8th century, the Merovingians were reduced to figureheads, and the Carolingians, led by Charles Martel, became the de facto rulers.In 751, Martel's son Pepin became King of the Franks, and later gained the sanction of the Pope. The Carolingians would maintain a close alliance with the Papacy. The area that later became Liechtenstein remained under Frankish hegemony (Merovingian and Carolingian dynasties) until the Treaty of Verdun divided the Carolingian empire in 843, following the death of Charlemagne in 814. The territory of present-day Liechtenstein formed part of East Francia. It would later be reunified with Middle Francia under the Holy Roman Empire, around 1000.] Until about 1100, the predominant language of the area was Romansch, but thereafter German began to gain ground in the territory. In 1300, another Alemannic population-the Walsers, who originated in Valais-entered the region and settled; the mountain village of Triesenberg today preserves features of the Walser dialect. The family from which the principality takes its name originally came from Liechtenstein Castle in Lower Austria, which they had possessed since at least 1140 until the 13th century, and again from 1807 onwards. The Liechtensteins acquired land, predominantly in Moravia, Lower Austria, Silesia, and Styria. As these territories were all held in feudal tenure from more senior feudal lords, particularly various branches of the Habsburgs, the Liechtenstein dynasty was unable to meet a primary requirement to qualify for a seat in the Imperial Diet (parliament), the Reichstag. Even though several Liechtenstein princes served several Habsburg rulers as close advisers, without any territory held directly from the Imperial throne, they held little power in the Holy Roman Empire. For this reason, the family sought to acquire lands that would be classed as unmittelbar, or held without any intermediate feudal tenure, directly from the Holy Roman Emperor. During the early 17th century, Karl I of Liechtenstein was made a Fürst (prince) by the Holy Roman Emperor Matthias after siding with him in a political battle. Hans-Adam I was allowed to purchase the minuscule Herrschaft ('Lordship') of Schellenberg and the county of Vaduz (in 1699 and 1712, respectively) from the Hohenems. Tiny Schellenberg and Vaduz had exactly the political status required: no feudal superior (suzerain) other than the emperor. On 23 January 1719, after the lands had been purchased, Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor, decreed that Vaduz and Schellenberg were united and elevated the newly formed territory to the dignity of Reichsfürstentum (imperial principality) with the name "Liechtenstein" in honour of "[his] true servant, Anton Florian of Liechtenstein". On this date, Liechtenstein became a mostly-sovereign immediate member state of the Holy Roman Empire. By the early 19th century, as a result of the Napoleonic Wars in Europe, the Holy Roman Empire came under the effective control of France, following the crushing defeat at Austerlitz by Napoleon in 1805. In 1806, Emperor Francis II abdicated and dissolved the Holy Roman Empire, ending more than 960 years of feudal government. Napoleon reorganized much of the Empire into the Confederation of the Rhine. This political restructuring had broad consequences for Liechtenstein: the historical imperial, legal, and political institutions had been dissolved. The state ceased to owe an obligation to any feudal lord beyond its borders. Until the end of World War I, Liechtenstein was closely tied first to the Austrian Empire and later to Austria-Hungary; the ruling princes continued to derive much of their wealth from estates in the Habsburg territories, and spent much of their time at their two palaces in Vienna. Johann II appointed Carl von In der Maur, an Austrian aristocrat, to serve as the Governor of Liechtenstein. The economic devastation caused by World War I forced the country to conclude a customs and monetary union with its other neighbour Switzerland. In addition, popular unrest caused from economic devastation in the war directly led to the November 1918 Liechtenstein putsch, which created the process of a new constitution based on constitutional monarchy being introduced in 1921. Thats basically why they dont have a football league. 🤣

Great Video. The Liechtenstein Swiss thing runs deeper than just football, Currency, Customs Unions, Tax, lots of things. Cannot see Liechtenstein ever getting their own football league any time soon. They seem to have no issue with close ties to their larger neighbour unlike some of the other small nations mentioned.... cough cough Gibraltar.

Do you have an alternative goal scoring threat who scores with his feet than can play either SS or IF on attack to compliment Almassi's aerial threat? or an alternative striker who is a different goalscoring type than Almassi that could play alongside him or in his place when their are matches where his aerial threat is neutralized?

Paul Ten Hag ??? Oh yeah a guy from a town near mine called Bundaberg was the manager of TNS a few season back. Anthony Limbrick. he became the first Australian manager to win a title win a European club in 21-22 season. They fired him the next season for failing to qualify in Europe.

If Wassberg keeps up that form come January, do not wait in case Sporting recall him, make a formal offer to buy him the second the window opens back up.

There is a lot of work to strengthen this team for next year, but a European competition is a great statement of intent for your project. Continuing to really enjoy this. Keep up the great work.

I would be a little worried. Whilst it is a nearly new team, you should not be losing to a team like Bohemians. Especially since that European money would do great for the club. Honestly, forget the league and prioritise winning your home leg fixture to qualify for the competition.

I really hope they changed their mind on removing the players weight!! Firstly i don't see what benefits removing it could have but its actually an important part in football in the real world , players have to be a certain weight to be considered fit etc . When clubs for example are looking for a strong tall centre back do you really think weight doesn't play a part ? Even when im looking for a centre back, central midfielder or striker weight and height play a part in whether id sign them.

If you do actually head into the Europa Conference League, then it may be wise not to let go some of the players who aren’t approaching the end of their contract because it’s another competition you’re now in and you will need options for squad rotation.

Europe will be so much fun next season. All those little confrence teams just waiting to be beaten up. 🤤

I think signing great players that are older but still have ayear or two left in them is a good move. It can help recriuting younger players that are better quality.

Seeing the pattern that usually accompanies a successful challenger team: beat the teams that are obviously lesser, but struggling against the top teams. The financial boost from making it to Europe will be the thing that might take this program onward to the next step.

So I'm managing Colwyn bay and we play European games in a 12K seater stadium in Tranmere so we are playing in a league 2 clubs ground .like the 1st time we got In europe we played at Tranmere old stadium
