Don’t do this!!! “Routing the belt this way the tensioner isn't doing its job. Routing the belt a little different (not using top idler pulley), the tensioner pushes down on belt but will bounce up (no belt there to push against) and will cause belt to squeak. Only true way to get rid of smog pump is to get the bypass pulley otherwise you'll have issues. I just went through all of this.”
What enginetech kit is this and do i need anything outside of seals that doesnt come with the kit?
Ok, I'll keep my 4r100 and just buy another truck that's a manual LOL
Would love if you'd be able to show the routing of all the vacuum lines you left in. I bought my truck with the Smog delete already done, so I didn't get to see how it was stock and I feel like I might be having a vacuum issue.
@RobbieE56 I left all the vacuum lines in place where they were originally. Message me on Facebook (Michael Burgin) and I'll PM ya a video of the routing if you like.
Did the check engine light come on after the delete ?
@@friendsofpimlicoracecourse8362 nope. It cycles like normal with the key and stays off when the truck is running because I left the solenoids in place.
Mike! You just saved me so much time!! I don’t have a welder, do you think some High temp JB weld would work? I truly can thank you enough for making this video!
Also, not to be needy but do you have a link to the caps for the back T pipe that you capped off with a vacuum plug. I know you said you didn’t use them but I think I will. I’m working on a 89 E-350 so I can take the dog house off to get to it easily.
@laurentbeauregard4666 I actually just got them from the local parts store so sorry no link, easy to look up though. I wouldn't think JB weld would work no, but you can try and remove the fittings and install plugs, or even just tap threads into the old lines and plug them with NPT thread plugs.
@@mikewrenchin1735 I’m getting ready to do this over the holiday weekend. Got some plugs. Would’ve never thought to tap a thread in there, genius!! Thank you again! Happy holidays!
So if you just by pass the od awitch to the gray block under the dash does the cruz disable when tou hit the break? Or what i still have rhe clutch safty switch on mine
i want your truck lol
Did he mention a part number or did I miss it? Edit: Input shaft seal part number 15818 Edit #2 The original seal is a 40 55 7 seal (measures out to 6mm) You should be able to take those three numbers to a store that deals with seals and they can find you the correct one But the seal in this video is a 40 55 6 seal (measures out to 5mm thick) I ended up using it anyways, hopefully it works out alright
@buildingsalvage At a minute in I show the box for the new seal. It was an skf 15818. It's been in there for over 2 years and 30k now, still sealed nicely.
@@mikewrenchin1735 glad to hear it! I installed the same one and drove the truck for the first time today. Stoked to have it back in action. Doubt 1mm of depth is that big of a deal for a seal that’s held in by a plate and 3 bolts.
Just bought my donor truck today your video was the first and last video I’ll need to get my swap done thanks buddy great video
@CaseyMcdonald-g3j Best of luck and have fun! I love my truck more then ever since the swap, at least when I'm on the open road! Lol.
Hey man, I'd love to chat with you a little more in depth. I've got a 2001 7.3 excursion. I'd like to do the same thing with.
@@caughtintheaction1194 Feel free to look me up on FB. Michael Burgin.
That was great. Now I want to see a 6.7 swap
@@rziels7153 6.7 swap into one of these trucks or a manual into a 6.7?
Do you still have the 02-03 manual trans harness, and if so do you know what part number it is? Ive spent alot of time trying to find it with no luck.
Hmmm honestly I don't remember what I did with the manual trans harness out of the parts truck. I think it was no good anymore. I don't know the p/n, sorry.
That's video is the greatest instruction and explanation video ever on TH-cam thank you so much subscribing, saving video and hitting like for sure
Sorry to bother you I have a couple questions so I followed your video and another Mike Daughtry and wind up my crank camshafts do the marks you guys were saying are hand rotated the motor to make sure it would spin put it back together and I started it and it has a rough idle like the timing is off is there a different trick would you have an idea what I might have messed up on
As long as you lined up all your marks the timing shouldn't be out. Did you maybe forget to plug something back in? Like an injector or coil or so?
Sweet truck. I d love to do this swap to mine
😊
What an amazing and educational video. I love my Canadian brethren. You guys are A-1. Thanks for the video from America. You make my life easy, even for a 2wd owner.
Thanks!
Did your ZF6 have the trans cooler lines on it? I am trying to figure out if that was something important or just something they added in the 2003 model. My zf6 has transmission cooler lines coming out by the starter and i just need to know if i can just plug them off or if i need it.
All the ford zf6s in diesels I know of came with the Trans cooler lines, I just ran them to the original air to oil trans cooler from the auto with 3/8th soft line. My buddy did his 6.0 and just capped the lines but in my opinion, if the opportunity is there to keep the oil cooler so that it deteriots less, might as well use it! I also added a magnetic inline trans fluid filter, just because.
Excellent video. Very informative. How long, from start to finish, did it take to do this swap? Thanks in advance..
Hey, sorry for the delayed reply. I put 2 or 3 weekends into it just taking my time, but on the clock I'd say I could probably knock it out in a couple of shop days. In my opinion it's better to give yourself time, that way glue and paint has time to dry and you don't forget any steps.
Now that it’s a year later and the 12 month warranty is up on the enginetech kit how is it holding up? I’ve been putting off doing mine for the fear of not being able to get quality parts but I don’t wanna hold off anymore lol
Hey, sorry for the delayed reply. I've put 20k on it, run very hard, 7k rpm limiter wheelspin getting out of mud and snow in the bush and daily driving, and the chains are perfectly silent and smooth still. So far, I'm very impressed by the kit.
What brand of chains and tensioners did you use? I've heard lots of horror stories about the chinese made units.
Enginetech kit off of rock auto. 20k km of hard abuse and still running perfectly.
We're u floating gears there ❓️❓️😲😲
No, I do in big trucks with eaton transmissions, but with synchronized transmissions it's just hard on the synchronized to float gears.
So the 99 manual trans ecu will not work in a 2002 automatic truck
No, not without flashing.
Awesome awesome video dude! Thanks a bunch
How long did this swap take you from start to back on the road?
I was at the time driving my ranger so I took my time, 2 or 3 weeks in total working on weekends but if I really put my foot into it I'd say I could probably hammer the job out in 2 or 3 days.
Looking to do this on my 99 v10
Nice job on the video! Is it roughly the same process in the h20a 2.0 v6?
I'm not sure, but I'd imagine it to be similar yes.
Hi Mike how can we contact you.. do you have an patreon or email address? Thanks 👍
Regarding?
Excellent Mechanic.
Thanks for your time in making this
That seems like a step by step video lol. Don’t sell yourself short my guy

Thanks!

The guide sleeve on mine is worn bad, I'm assuming from a bad throw out bearing. Any idea where to buy a replacement?
I'm not sure where to get a new one no, you may have to just scour the internet for one, or see if any of trans shops of wreckers have a transmission laying around that you could steal one from.
I see you went from electronic 4wd to manual on the floor. Did you have to do anything different with the wiring for that?
It just depends on the harness, the harness I got from the wreckers was a 99-01 manual trans and manual t-case harness so it was straight plug and play.
what tool did you use to remove the screws on the tensioner
On which tensioner? Theres 3 of them.
Awesome video! I'm about to do the same job + replace those stupid o-rings that are sandwiched between the block/spacer and spacer/oil pan. How's the timing set holding up? Was eyeing that enginetech kit too. Later!
So far so good! Enginetech is a US based company and apperently supplies many large shops with engine parts, the parts looked like very nice quality going in. Yea as I figured out after getting er on the road, my deck plate is also leaking from that stupid o-ring. That's a project for another day, or year. 😆 This unit is only my winter/bush buggy, and I love it for what it is.
Thank you so much for making this video! God bless!
Awesome job man! Would it be the same with the wiring if I’m doing the swap in a 2003 f250 5.4 2v motor?
Also if I do the swap are the transmission cooler lines the same in the 4r100 and zf6 or did you have to modify them? Thqnks
I'm not sure on that one but I feal like it would be a very similar process.
Great video!!!!!
Thanks!
On that gray box what wire did you run the wire to for the over drive switch
Tan/blue wire on the clutch safety switch plug (grey box) to the tan/blue wire on the auto shifter pigtail.
Nice
Dude you have to be from canada...lol you and i talk the same
Haha sure am. BC Canada.
You did one hell of a job
Thanks! She's still running strong!
thank you for this video. Your methods of removing the old seal with a screw and using a pipe to drive on the new seal are brilliant. .My 2002 F350 manual transmission with manual 4WD has 375000 miles on it now. I am replacing the clutch in a few days. I am now ordering the seal from Amazon. Have you ever had to use an Input Shaft Repair kit KPBZ73HD on any ZF6?
Yes I've used the fitzall kit with the wear sleeve. If you check out my zf6 swap video you'll see it there. Works like a charm. Has been in my truck going on 3 years and running strong.
You wouldn't happen to still have that 2002 manual pcm would you? I'm getting ready to do the swap on my 03 and the only thing I'm missing to do it is the pcm
No, sorry, I've already sold it. You're the 3rd or 4th person already to ask me that. I guess that's a sought-after part. Scour any wreckers near you, I found my apx-1 at a local wrecking yard for 200 bucks canadian.
hey mike! do you still have the 2002 7.3L manual ecm? id like to purchase if you still do! could you reply with a way to reach you? thanks in the middle of this swap on my 02 f350!
I do actually yea. Sorry about the late reply, I dont check my youtube notifications too often. Find me on Facebook, Michael Burgin. Profile picture is me with my two dogs.
