Great Idea in itself to make the whole thing a bit more portable. As you mentioned at the end, I wouldn't put the router directly to the dish, as various frequencies may interfere with earch other. I'm not a satellite expert, but I would almost say that wifi - for exaple - could interfere with satellite reception. From what I have seen from others so far, I would recommend a different router anyway. The one from Starlink seems to be somewhat modest.

Super video! Question - why does the power wire have 3 pins? I always thought 48v DC should only have + and -. Is one of them ground of some sort?

Hi there, my gen 2 dish is dead and Starlink refused to replace it due to a sub standard mount, there is no sound coming from the dish and it won't even stow, i think it isn't getting power, is there a fuse inside that blows or something else that would cause this issue??

Hi, in your video I couldn't see how you connect the 3 wires from the Wi-Fi card (12v, 48v and gnd) to the inverter where there is 12v, positive and negative, with 48v positive and negative) i.e. I have 4 wires in the inverter with 3 wires on the Wi-Fi card, could you explain it to me?

Not the best video or setup. There are way better videos on youtube than your setup. First desolder the motor jack you don't need it you will save space that way. Second desolder the big bottom chip and one resistor on the left side the board that way you can power the dish directly with 12 volts from your car you won't need a 48 DC converter that wastes power. Third buy a 90° jack for your ethernet cable and buy flat cat8 cable and crimp a new cable that way you will lower your profile even more. Forth get a better thinner backplate ready made there a few sold on ali express which are quite good and you will have a way better thinner dish. Fifth get rid of that big bulky useless starlink router and buy a third party wifi 7 router from ubiquity. And that's the final procedure so enjoy your new 4mm thick dish.

This by far seems to be the best POC. This will work great for back Packers as well as motorcyclists who can't afford much space, weight or power. How much power does this draw or, how long did your battery in this video last? What battery are you using?

Hi, nice work. We have just received ours. Have noticed that the dish has a lot of backlash. Have powered up the unit but still can tilt like 10degrees and rotate around 30degrees freely. Is it normal as as of your video looks quite sturdy dish with base. Tks!

If you heat the edges with a heat gun, it will separate easier. Use the tools available for cell phone repair. The process is similar.

Hey, just a quick question. I am wondering how much current draw the 12V and 48V portion actually uses. I notice you only used a 3A 12V converter so I guess it must use less than that? Seems lower than I expected. And for the 48V portion, what does that actually power? Would I need more than 1A output for that? Please let me know, and awesome video!!! :)

    • @antoniok4735

Just desolder the big left chip on the bottom side and remove the resistor that way you can power the dish directly with 12V you won't need a 48V DC converter that wastes power.
