Best trail magic is gatorade,soda,cold beers and hot dogs brother. I enjoyed doing trail magic for the first time this past spring in northeast tn by sama gap/ beauty spot/iron mtn and Watauga lake areas.

Jak you have been puttung in long mileage days since i meet you st sams gap iff interstate 26 by erwin,tn on 4/7. Harpers ferry is a long distance away from eerwin,tn.

That timer rattler has been eating good. Hopefully that huge black rat snake might take care of the rattles snake.

What part of the Shenandoah park have you made it too as of today(5/24)?

J*aka rhis past sundat night 4/28 i mwet up eth jeremy baugh and his 3 military friends and csmped out wirh them at the top of chestnut ridge at that burkes garden toad trsil head. The next morning as i was driving off the chestnut ridge mountain about 3/4 of a mile from that trail hrad a about 130 lb young bear came scampering off the hillside about 12 yards in front of my truck. That bear was rolling along quickly.

Have you mixed Essentials and coffee yet? The breakfast of champions. Nice video. You are on the adventure of a lifetime(unless you've been to war). Enjoy it as much as you can and record all of it. Store your recordings in two separate places. I've seen many hikers lose their files. I had planned to thru hike in 1975 but the Army got in the way. Now, I'm too old and worn out so, I watch videos and share from my experience. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Nice video. Carnation Essentials is a good recovery drink at the end of hiking for the day. The weather guessers are predicting a hot summer ahead. I hope that you have treated your gear and outer clothing with Permethrin. The ticks are very bad and tick diseases are plentiful now. Every year a bunch of thru hikers get tick sick and are knocked off the trail. Seven years ago, my wife and 7 other people in our community died from tick diseases. Be very careful. Happy Trails. Hey Jak. I went up to bears den and chestnut ridge this past weekend go do trail magic for the 3 military guys I had meet the same Sunday 4/7 when I also meet you at same gap. Sounds like you might be a day or 2 behind them.

So Considerate when at the Shelter you lowered your Voice ,more times than not there is always a couple early risers at the shelters that will sit at the bench Make breakfast while having a conversation at full Volume

I meet them again this past sunday 4/14 up at hughes gap by roan mtn. I dod trail magic at that trail head.

That is laurel falls up by Hampton and watauga lake. Back in the 1970's some of my etsu dorm buddies and myself we would hike up there and spend a long day drinking some cold adult beverages chilling out in that swimming hole below the falls.
