On February 20, 2020, I purchased a Zygonisia (Zns) Snow Bird 'Kaila' HCC/AOS at Longwood Gardens' orchid sale. It was an absolute zoo at the sale as the orchids were picked over in minutes. After digging through the remains on the carts, I saw this little one hidden amongst a few Phalaenopsis that remained. It was laying on its side in the pot, and the root system was very limited...so sad. However, I did a quick search to see what the flowers looked like, and I was hooked!!! So, I parted with $20 to bring her home and give her special treatment to try to nurse her back to health. In this video, I show the potting mix technique that I used, and how I made pot clips (aka rhyzome clips) to keep the orchid stable while she (hopefully) reestablishes a solid root system.
