Musical Transcriptions performed on a Moog Modular Synthesizer. Baroque and Classical pieces played on Moog Modular synth and other electronic instrumentation.
All pieces are peformed and realised by myself in my small studio. Each piece takes many hours to complete and is similar to a painting in oils. You start with a sketch or two and begin to add colour and then add more layers of colour or sound.
Some pieces adapt very well to synthersizer transcription while others can be virtualy impossible to complete with any satisfaction. What can seem to be an excellent choice for transcribing can turn out to be a total failure. Failure rate is quite high as one does not know how the piece will sound until well into creation by whch time a considerable amount of time has been expended.

In Re Don Giovanni . (Nyman) Electro Transcriptions
Great admiration for Michael Nyman ... this is a Modular synth version of his ..In re Don Giovanni, part of the catalogue aria from Mozarts Don Giovanni opera.
The vocal part was produced by the use of two High Pass and Low pass filters plus an ouboard Band Pass filter to produce formant vowels.
No vocoder was used.

The Brandenburg Concertos are well suited to the monophonic Moog Synthesiser one note at time system. Instrumentation is better perceived (I hope) on the Moog than some orchestral recordings. The timbres used here are those that occurred naturally to fit the piece with some exaggerations for tonal effect. A more complex and lengthy piece which was started several years ago and with a concerted effort, finished recently. Some pieces can fall naturally to Moog renditions but a piece such as this falls on the border line and in this case just passes ...hopefully.

Similar to the 1968 S.O.B. original which, after 50 years, is set in concrete and for me, difficult to 'un-hear'. How many operators does your moog have?
I am the sole operator ! And engine driver .
I've heard the term operator be used when referring to the number of waveforms a synthesizer can combine. Is your moog an additive or subtractive synthesizer and how many waveforms are combined or filters used?
I'm fascinated by the synthesizer patches (voicing) you use on these renditions. They sound very close to the voices Wendy Carlos used on her Bach interpretations. Do you intentionally try to match the colors and articulations she used, or is the similarity just due to the fact that you're using the same Moog hardware?
It's probably half and half ...anyone using a modular and playing a little classical music automatically resembles W Carlos. Although her musicianship was meticulous, it's her patches and timbres that are genius in the true sense . Alas , no videos, or details apart from snatches here and there and the Secrets of Synth CD and worse, her denial of what she became famous for.
@@cloudhop Can you describe in general the patch configuration you use? I've owned a large modular system for decades and I still have no idea how she created some of the exquisite voicings on her brilliant masterpiece "The Well Tempered Synthesizer."
Im waiting for someone to tell me the same ! To me it's the core of her genius ...those fantastic tones. She told me it's the micro adjustments, not relying on simple patches and using complicated module set ups. Also "tricks" which could be a multitude of things. In other words taking a great deal of time and patience over one sound .....which I do ...taking a long time for one patch only to delete the next day. It's the hardest thing I ever did ever but I'm starting to learn (I think)

I bought this album as a 15 year old girl in Missouri. I played it all the time. I developed a strong love of classical music from Bugs Bunny cartoons in the '50's. Actually a lot of today's techno music has somewhat of a classical vibe to it but I love replaying the oldies, especially Wendy/Walter Carlos music.
