Haunted Waters: The Tragic Tale of the Siren's Song in the French Broad River
In this housing market, spooks knocking wouldn't bother me a bit. Just put on my headphones. 😅
What town was this in ?? Gate City ??
I don't think it was there but rather somewhere else in Scott County.
Gruesome and terrible. I don't think anyone should pass on such tales. People make up things when they don't know the true facts. The neighbors sure were malicious enough to make up such a story. I don't think they knew what those two girls may have suffered while growing up. Certainly no one deserves to be eaten by dogs.🥺
Are you serious??? Lol. Of course your name is Karen. If you know the "facts" then please enlighten us , if not then go somewhere else if you don't like the stories
You should tell the story of Frankie Silver
We’ll look into doing that one again for TH-cam. Thanks!
They loved their holes being explored with boaby
They were talking about the Ohio River. When my grandfather would go to work. Early 1930's the river was so low is spots the men could walk from W V to OH side Other parts so deep there where rip tides. 😂. My grandparents walked across when they were courting. They went for ice cream. Was a wonderful place to live then.
I love listening to this. I grew up in that area in Brooke County, WV.❤
What a horrible story that was beautifully read!
Thank you!
I’m a new subscriber and I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed your story and I hope to find more just like this one as I watch your other videos. ❤
Welcome aboard!
My great grandfather ran shine 😂
My daddy bought it. Seriously. ❤
My grandmother was from Missouri, born in 1910, to a Scots-Irish family. She told me about "banshees" (which was scary enough), and she also told me about "haints". She told me a story that her older brother, and maybe other folks had been "hainted" (heard a haint), and that all the kids in the holler were scared that they would be next to hear one. She thought it was funny, but folks would take that stuff serious I guess. I'm in my 60's now, and I miss the old folks. Thanks for this awesome story. It really brought back happy memories...
What a crock of shine.
My sisters still sing men to there deaths. A girls got to eat.
They sound lovely 😁❤
I'm a new subscriber and I had a similar experience with my cannabis patch, but instead of the shaman threatening me with a curse he became a bogart and I had to ban him from my patch! Lol good story!
Lol! Great comment! Thanks for listening.
@@MountainLorePodcast my pleasure. I enjoy the creativity of y'all stories!
The more I listen to the stories of the Appalachians the more I want to be there... Would a Ozark hillbilly be welcome?
Why not? We’ve had folks from everywhere in the country move here in the last four years, you can join ‘em!
@@MountainLorePodcast I'm thinking strongly about doin' just that 😁
Loven your stories...
I would be willing to stay the night in a haunted place. I believe!
Loved that one! Gina I love your commentary as The story goes.😂 It seems we comment the very same as he's telling the story. I have watched a documentary about a witch's tree, all twisted and blackened in the field. How people go there and experience the paranormal. I believe in the other world of spirit's... I have seen
Thanks Deborah! I haven't read the story that Steve tells when we record, so I'm just as surprised as you are by the story. Happy you enjoyed it, thanks for listening!

Coming from a Hatfield! Sheesh
@@Badgerlife God dam right
I have to be the one to ask were the sisters fine at least 😂
Im surrprised there was anything left of her after the dog attack and that the town people even buried them! 😮
Pictures would be nice.
Well, we’re really an audio podcast. To get on TH-cam music, we had to start a TH-cam channel, but we don’t plan to be shooting videos. However, we are experimenting and did add some pictures in our latest episode “A Ghostly Run of Likker.” Check it out!
Is this story from the Hiltons community of Scott County? If not where is the location of the sisters burial supposed to be?
It is indeed a tale adapted from one that’s been told about two sisters from Scott County.
@@MountainLorePodcast Thanks!
Spooky when one has a vivid imagination 🫣👵🏻👩🌾❣️
I have no doubts that the story is true, now that's not to say that over the years the story may have been embellished a little, but we now witches are real and are even mentioned in the bible.
It hilarious hearing the story teller talking about witch sisters lying to people and swindling people out of their money which is EXACTLY what preachers stand up in churches and do EVERY sunday 😂 . Remember that the bible is a FAIRYTALE book .
Interesting story. Pretty good 👍
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
That wasn't a Banshee wail. That was Sasquatch
I'm second from Wheeling Wva the Northern Panhandle ❤ the story
Thank you!
Im first ❤ thanks enjoyed it
We’re glad you liked our tale. Thanks for listening!
You guys are amazing! Do you know the year/time period that this story takes place in?
I'd have to say sometime during the middle or late 19th century, since traveling preachers were pretty common then and since the story was told to WPA workers gathering folklore during the Great Depression in the 1930s.
Amazing story ❤️
Thank you…glad you liked it!
