Yes I totally agree! I'm from Finland and our culture is very similar to the swedish culture, and so it makes me sad that so many people lose their outlet that reflects their culture. Like sso went from "Hey, let's celebrate our culture" to "Hey, let's only celebrate culture derived from the western world, or none at all". It is so apparent that they will do anything to appeal to a larger audience :/ Another thing that supports this is the lack of, for example, african or asian representation, like do we ever see anything in the game related to asian culture, like mythology or architecture? No, 'cause it would attract a smaller audience and only appeal to those who are interested in that culture. Same with the language options. They add languages that will benefit most people. Which like fair, of course they have to respond to the demand, buuuuuut still. It's just so sad. That's all really, like what can we do... Yeah sso should totally add more gender options, like imaaaaagine how much that could alleviate anxiety amongst a lot of players. Good discussion :D

@@hildapinklake thank you for responding. I haven't seen people talking about this so I wasn't sure exactly if I was right in thinking this way, thank you for validating me in this. Part of my love for sso was the feeling of being in an environment seperate to the one I know and that's been fading fast sadly. And regarding representation of other cultures I totally agree! They have a selection of skin tones and languages to chose from but it would be nice to see more representation of more cultures. Not just visual but in story and other details. Jorvik seems to be a popular holiday location, you could most definitely find all types of people there. But you can represent many cultures while still keeping the European/Scandic roots of the lore and setting. Something they could also do is inclusion of disabilities. The only characters coming to mind for me is Hugh in South hoof and the chick from dundull but it would be really cool if we could customise our characters to represent different disabilities. Prosthetics and mobility aids or canes and hearing aids.. Gender: oh totally! I personally identify on the more masculine spectrum despite being born the opposite, it's uncomfortable being perceived as female in game, the character is an extension of me in a way. If they added more gender options I think that would open the game to so many more characters. Yet they're stuck in some kind of hyper fem phase. Thank you for responding. <3

Yeah, also with the representation of disabilities, I would like them to further include other disabilities than just the more visual ones, and explicitly make it obvious for the players, so that the disabilities would be less "hidden" from the majority of players. Like if someone has ASD, don't just hint at it, but like actually just say it. Or maybe that's just me, idk. But I feel it would help a lot if people were aware of the NPCs disabilities and such. Why beat around the bush when there's no need to? Also where's the gender diversity representation?? Like we have two nb NPCs right, but that's all that goes outside the binary. Like of course, who knows, there might be trans characters who pass very well and no one's aware of it, but I highly doubt it. Again, would love it if sso made it apparent and added trans characters and people who don't identify within the gender spectrum. All of the music in sso also nowadays seems to represent this "girl power" narrative, that "you're a strong and independent woman", which I think becomes a bit too much at times. But that might just be my and other transmasc people's opinion. Star stable has been improving when it comes to making the game more open to different identities, however, there is a looooong way to go. I'm glad we see eye to eye in this! :D Clearly we need more people to speak out for those who are being forgotten about regarding the game.

@@hildapinklake i can't believe I didn't think about invisible disabilities 😭 that would be awesome. I personally live with neurodivergance like ADHD and ASD and proper media representation is so few and far to be seen. Sadly a lot people people and big companies shy away from that kind of rep because they're scared of being perceived as weird or strange, or they don't know where to look for information and don't want to offend people. I think that same or a similar fear is what is holding them back from adding different gender identities, races, and ethnicities for the NPCs alone. Yeah they're improving slowly, but they're so far behind on something that is really important to do many people in and outside of their community. I saw this great video that points out that star stable's way of thinking is actually sexist and doesn't just harm other gender identities, but also those who identify as female. They're playing hard into the "only girls can love horses" stereotype which in my opinion sets them back so many years of progressivity. I'll link it here, it's a great watch 💜 God it's been so refreshing discussing this with someone who agrees! I've been holding this in for quite a while, it feels good to let it out and have someone validate my thoughts. @@Apsie Watched the video, it was excellent. And for real, i just hope sso would dedicate more time to embracing all sorts of identities and not exclude boys. And of course there is a fear of sso becoming a "dating" game or even worse, predatory, but I think we're forgetting about all of the predatory behaviour already existing. Including boys in the game and making more masculine avatars probably won't exacerbate the issue, as long as they plan it out well and set strict guidelines. It is unfortunate, but inevitable that these games will have people with warped ideas, that really is just the reality. Hmm I wonder if I should make a video talking about this from a trans perspective. I feel like the representation is low, and if it helps at least one person relate, my job is done. I love discussing about these topics, we should totally engage more in these discussions overall!

Same here. I hate to be negative when something is evolving, but I just feel like the mystical and exciting feeling I got when I played Star stable got lost when they changed it. I know a lot of old users feel the same! It would be so cool if we could download an older version of the game, since it means so much to a lot of us. I recently stumbled into an old quest at The Forgotten Fields, and then I just realized how forgotten it actually is. It’s like the game producers just forgot about this area and left it they way it were. I had totally forgotten the soundtrack, and the fact that Star stable actually left it like it was a long time ago, makes it feel it forgotten for real. I feel like the rumors in the quests that says that you should avoid that area also applied to the game creators if that makes sense?? I really love that part now since it’s just like a small little piece of the old Star stable and like a home❤️❤️❤️
