Thanks for this. I rebuilt my final drive basically following your video. You eliminated the special tools and elitist "dealer only" attitude that seems to surround all things BMW. Cheers!

How much is the price of a complete set of bearings and seals? On my bike I have play on the input shaft of the final drive, so I'll replace everything.

awsome job .rebuilding my 09gsa rear end now 160 klm just in time , had to make the tool as well used a 15/8 deep socket and 1/4 key stock welded around it to create a 10 point ,Thanks again ,There a great bike to work on .Had to replace the trany main shaft as well .

Thank you for the info. Haynes manual said not to do this repair yourself, but thanks to this video I managed to get my worn bearing (+140.000 km, so not to bad) out. Now I hope I can replace it and enjoy riding this bike many more kilometers

I love the method you use to take apart the final drive you almost did all with a hammer and banging the hall thing on the table.

Thanks for the great videos I have a 2011 with 150000k's and noticed oil in rear booth so will remove drive and bring to dealer to replace pinion seal . Thanks again

How did you hold the pinion gear to undo the nut I can see you have something going through the centre?

I would grease front U joint splines while I am at it

Great video, but I noticed a couple of times in which the pinion bearing races are not pressed properly and are putting undo stress and pressure on the bearings. Whacking the bearing with a hammer is generally not a good practice. I purchased the proper pipes to ensure all pressing is done on the respective bearing race to prevent damage to the bearings. Nevertheless, thank you for the informational video.

is yours a 2010 as well, i got a 2009 with 57k on it, i'm afraid to think about it when I go out on longer trips, but i'm looking at buying a new final drive for it from beemerboneyard or ebay

You don't need to worry about your wife finding out about using your freezer if you do it at work.....
