I feel the same about the other hard-scaling tanks like mundo and ornn as I do about malphite. And I also wonder about how to beat irelia. Perhaps could you do a video about the scaling tanks matchups, + matchups that are traditionally considered to be counters to nidalee like teemo and irelia?

I can look to do it for sure, and don't worry I think all of the matchups you have named are ones which are a bit tricky and not super straight forward. I'll look to make a video on the matchups in the future but here's a quick rundown Vs most tanks you don't look to get a lead by killing them in lane but rather by getting plates or starving them out, this way we can often play to get a cs lead and tower quite early. Vs Mundo I'd go Triforce Shojin with anti heal, and then we can run him down on sidelane later. Vs Ornn triforce into most items are fine, and only rule vs Ornn is that we don't go melee on him if he has spells because that champion one shots, but if we wait or bait his spells then he can't do much. Vs Malphite we play super slow in lane, I'd often go MR early like Null Magic Mantle or Negatron Cloak since then he can't ever all in us and then we just play to get plates in his face, if we hit a spear we can short trade. Vs Malphite you want to go either Iceborn into Liandry's or Triforce Shojin if you really don't like playing Iceborn Vs most tanks I like to play tp since you will struggle to kill them in lane but tp allows us to get one more plate early on with the tempo, although against Mundo I'd still recommend ignite of course. Against Teemo, generally he only wins when he has his blind up, which is not always of course. So we'll look to trade on him whenever he doesn't have it by taking a one auto trade and bait it out initially and then walk forward and trade on him with E attack speed or even cougar spells if he gets close. If you somehow land a spear or trap when he doesn't have blind you'll always win the all in. Irelia is probably the trickiest of them, first of all you have to play ignite in this matchup since all in power is super important. You hard win level 1, so we have to posture aggressively and zone her off the first couple of minions. If she simply tanks your auto attacks walking to the minions as they're getting low you win the all in as you get 3-4 or even more autos before she can Q minions and then you. We will use this lead we get level one to make sure we get even further ahead early by playing super aggressive which should land us a cs lead. It's generally important to get armor vs Irelia as well early, as she has mainly only auto attack based damage early. So Tabis are really good, and I like iceborn although you can do something like bramble vest and then go trinity. On level 6/11 spike you usually hard win as long as you hit spear and have ignite.

I hate both those champions as well for sure, Varus I played against a lot for a while so I kinda figured out how to play against him even if it was still a bit of a struggle, Akshan I play against like once every half a year and I feel like it's probably not that terrible but I never get to practice the matchup

@@Aqsept There are a few matchups that are Nidalee favored that I struggle more with than I should (Ornn, Volibear, Mordekaiser, Aatrox, off the top of my head). Too often I can get a good lead in these matchups early, then push it too far around level 7 or so, take a bad all-in, and give the lead away. I suspect the key for me will be making sure I'm following an appropriate game plan in those cases, and working out the thresholds for all-in per matchup a bit more carefully. I'm finding your gameplan recommendations per matchup extremely helpful, and will be reviewing it frequently. I think what would be most useful for me in particular would be to study a couple of your games for each gameplan (shove + poke, freeze -> all-in, slow push -> plates) and compare against my games to see where I'm losing the script. I suspect I go auto-pilot into all-ins in cases where I need a bit more patience. That's plenty for me to work on right now, but if you're looking for ideas on Nidalee YT content, a compilation of a game or two demonstrating the execution of each plan could be nice. I appreciate the education!

​@@Aqsept For me personally, I expect to improve the most by studying your recommended strategies per matchup in this video. I'm very comfortable with Nidalee toplane now, and find it easy to get a lead levels 1-7 in lots of matchups, but sometimes struggle to press the lead as much as I should. Matchups like Sett, Ornn, Volibear, Mordekaiser, I sometimes all-in too early or aggressively when I am ahead and throw away a lead. I tend to default to a two wave crash into a freeze and recognize I need to be more flexible to improve. To answer your question more directly, I think what I would be most interested in from a content perspective with respect to matchups would be to learn some of those tricks you mention in this guide that have turned around the dynamic of some of the matchups for you. I recall seeing either on stream or YT comments you've made about Vayne and Nasus specifically that were helpful to increase my chances when I see those champs, and suspect there are many other little things that I could stand to learn, especially for the less common matchups. The other matchup related thing that I often feel lost on is matchup-specific itemization, and when to take ignite vs. teleport.

Sometimes, but it's situational. I have some games here on youtube where I built it, but mainly I go it in games where I know for a fact that I'll be able to threaten on sidelane, like if I'm facing a tank like Ornn that can't defend against me, or if I feel like sidelane will be the only win condition because of how my team is doing or something similar.

Nowadays most of the time I'd play electrocute with legend haste and cut down, and then go either luden's shadowflame or malignance liandry's. Look to play like a burst mage with quick combos and clean up with your ult.

Nothing has been changed really since this video came out so everything is still viable. My recommendation is to look at what you do and compare it to see where your clear falls behind in speed, look at the small details since that's the only real way to see what slows down the clear

It's fine honestly, as long as you're only using 1 smite during the clear and not 2, it of course can be min maxed a bit but that's something that will get more efficient the more you play as well

Bork for sure gives a lot of consistent damage, I'm not sure if I ended up including it but I was talking about maybe going it this game since enemy had a lot of short range/tanky champions that I was auto attacking a lot Sometimes I like to go Conqueror with Tri Force > Bork/Mortal Reminder > IE/Serpents, just gives a lot of flat damage in human form and allows you to basically win any 1v1 in the game, so quite nice to do vs champions like Yone/Gwen that you can't beat otherwise, but it has a bit of a different playstyle

Might be a bit faster, not 100%, but on Red Buff it should be slower than E start + you lose a lot more HP with W. You can do W start though if you want to invade early, so go W with raptors start invade enemy blue/gromp

@Aqsept youre right. I tested it and w is faster first camp but you lose speed second camp cuz u dont have the auto attack soeed and heal from e also making it less healthy. Cuz ur forced to take q to actually get damage off second camp. Ive played her for 13 years, but im still no pro at her, ive taken alot of breaks and never tried really climbing. I can say my micro is pretty damn good with her tho but could use help macro with jungle. How much would coaching be with you on nid?

First of all, if it's what you enjoy I'd say try it out anyways and see how it goes. But to answer your question, I would say Nidalee top in general is harder than jungle because it is more mechanically intensive while jungle Nidalee leans more towards game knowledge, but when it comes to AD Nidalee or AP Nidalee top I wouldn't say AD Nidalee is necessarily harder, it is mechanically intensive as I said, but not much more so than something like Jayce, main thing is that on Nidalee you're not allowed to really drop the ball, so making mistakes can be costly, but I would also say it's harder to make said mistakes because you have a lot of safety with mobility + sustain and general outplay potential

@@Aqsept I played nida top like twice, i really enjoy her tankiness with alot of armor and just the usual build, plus it's really fun to play in general, however as you said, you aren't really allowed to make mistakes in lane.

The main thing they've nerfed her on is her passive and then indirect nerfs like items and runes, I wouldn't play fleet anymore, instead you can play grasp or electrocute or situationally comet with E max vs champions like Quinn. You can play Luden's if you want to as it allows you a lot of burst as well as short trade power but liandry's and malignance are still strong options

Modt important thing is to just get the mechanics right on Nidalee, I'd say, as in keep weaving autos between spells, always use W on reset, etc I've seen literal challenger players play Nida and clear at 3:30-3:35 just because they aren't used to the champion

I mean it's impossible to say of course, I think in a sense she will be fine because most tanks top have really bad matchups into her, adc's are nerfed so she has more space in fights and overall the items you build on her for the most part are still fine. I imagine going iceborn liandries is worse now because liandries is quite nerfed and Iceborn spike comes in later, but I think AD build should still be fine

Usually I try to think about what is best into enemy team in a sense. There's no like easy like you should build X every time, but my recommendation would be stick to a similar build most times and maybe swap out specific items. For example maybe do Triforce > Sundered > Titanic as I think this is the most universal build, and then in some games if you think Wit's End has a lot of value you could go it for example. I'll be releasing a guide soon, but I've been putting it off due to next patch item changes
