In 2009, Audi entered the world of GT3 racing with their all new R8 LMS. Over the prior decade, Audi had dominated the top level of sports car racing with multiple overall wins at the 24 Hours of LeMans. Using the name of their successful LeMans challenger, the R8 street car was shown to the world in 2006 with jaw-dropping looks and a lovely 4.2L V8 as the power plant. By 2009, Audi was ready to up the game and did so by adding the Lamborghini-derived 5.2L V10 as an option. Along with the enhanced street car, Audi used their space frame chassis as the platform for their new international GT3 challenger.
The R8 LMS was competitive right away, securing podium finishes and pole positions in numerous international races. The first major win for the R8 came in the 2011 12 Hours of Bathurst as this was the first of many endurance classic victories. In 2012, the LMS received significant updates including lightweight carbon fiber doors, an upgraded transmission, a 70-horsepower increase, upgraded aerodynamics, and a plethora of enhanced suspension related items. These upgrades paid off instantly as Audi claimed victory in two endurance crown jewels with first overall in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and the 24 Hours of Spa. Over the next few years, the R8 LMS Ultra made a substantial footprint in GT3-based racing including in the USA.
This particular R8 was built in 2011 and was later upgraded to 2015 Ultra specs. The owner of GMG Racing, James Sofronas, purchased the car so he could compete in the Pirelli World Challenge in the GT class.

      I beat, problems with aluminum chassis breaks, right? Those cars suffered a lot of this problem.

      @@hiperformance71 We had never problems with the chassis. I had a 2014 car in the best condition. All maintenance done by Audi Sport. Sold it to Hungary for hill climb.

    The 944 S2 is my favourite car of all time. I owned a 911 - 993, then a 944S2, 92 compliance, then a Boxster when it came out. By far the 944 S2 is the one I wish i had never sold. Best looking roadster style, best seating position, awesome engine, and loved the manual. The rear seat and boot is a plus. If only Porsche would wake up and create it again. The Boxster was awesome, but cramped, and impractical. THE 994 was also way better looking than the 968 which lost the masculine look. And I agree with the pop-up headlights, they look awesome on this cool car.

    Don’t get me wrong: I wouldn’t throw it out of bed for eating crackers, but this was a bit of a sad end to an astounding run. Like seeing a former champ get pudgy and stay in the dugout, waving his cap at the fans now and then after getting walked as a matter of courtesy. US DOT and EPA regs were not kind to the old cat, but then neither were British industrial relations.

    I've always liked the Lincolns I had a 68 four-door Continental for about 10 years. Sharp Black with dark blue leather interior. More than enough room. I was single at the time in the 70's. A solid machine and I would like to see Lincoln Co make a return. Well made with the smooth ride and plenty of pep.You could drive any distance and not get bored. Rock On !

    The problem with 911's since the backend would break loose on a turn and you'd lose it, unless you stayed on the pedal. A lot of Pro athletes were killed because of that. Two of my friends totaled theirs. The 914 was 55/45 % weight balance, it was like driving a Go-Kart and was almost as low.

    I bought a Brand new 914 1.7 on 10/15/1973.(! Black with a Clarion multiplex stereo! Out the door is cost $5,128.32! I drove it straight up to the San Bernardino Mountains. I was a dream to own and drive, especially coming down the mountain, nothing could pass me!!!

    I own a '72 914 that I bought with less than 18K miles (it has 22K now), and it's a delightful car to drive. I love it more than I ever thought I would.

    The 944 S2 was one of the most beautiful affordable super cars of modern times. I drove a red coloured S2 like the one in this video across France and Spain in the 1990s. Very comfortable, very reliable, very easy to drive - I was able to drive it carefully up a dirt track in the Pyrenees with no problems - and also very fast. If I remember correctly, its power steering was programmed to disengage after 25 miles.

    Enjoy the driving experience, until it breaks. Ferrari STILL has not figured out how to build a car with at least SOME reliability. If you want to drive one of these, rent one, but never buy one. If you want to own a great driver that you do not have to worry about getting home in, buy a Porsche.
