06 HHR Fuel Injector Replacement P1174
If you can change the spark plugs in your HHR, you can do an injector replacement. Super easy and under an hours worth of work. I did this because I was getting a P1174 Error and fuel system cleaners were not helping. Since the change, car runs great and the error no longer occurs.

Torque specifications 155 for the axle nut, 85 for the three hub bolts. If you change one side, DO BOTH. I had to do the other 3 months later. Special thanks to all the people at chevyhhr.net and my brother Joe, without them I would not have done this job.

    It's the o2 sensors most of the time. Just test resistance on those once you change the o2 sensor. The code indicates a problem with the high voltage o2 sensor picking up an imbalance in air and fuel. Could be any part related

      Well Pete I can only speak for what happened to me in Delaware. Of course, it is different per car and per location. I will tell you that it was difficult to get off, no doubt, but I was able to finally get it off. I remember at one point thinking I was going to have to get the car towed to a service center as it was just too stuck. But time and patience got it off. Best of luck.

    best thing to do with any vro motor is get rid of VRO. its troublesome can destroy your motor and way to expensive to replace. best off with old style pump with extremely good reliability and then just give it its proper mix of 50 to 1... the vrp main problem is starving the motor of oil.

    You could have avoided lots of trouble removing the bad bearings by putting the tire back on and using it for leverage. Kick it around a bit side to side and pulling on the tire till the bearings come off. Thanks for the video. It really helps any inexperienced person like me save some $$ too. God bless

    I have a 130hp Evinrude and was going to convert to this pump as well. On the back of the pump there is a middle hole, which I believe is the pulse if you are mounting it directly against the motor. Did you have to cover or plug up that pulse hole since you are getting pulse through a hose? Also, how is it running now? Does this fuel pump work well even when giving it full throttle?

    Thank you for this. I have a question. I'm part way through the job now. Got the new hub in, tightened it until it seated, then realized I didn't put the splash guard/heat shield/whatever thing back on. The old hub was a bear to get out. The new one is now in there snugly and will require force to get back out. Really worried about damaging my shiny new part. Anyone have any advice?

    • @jefflundstrom6878
      @jefflundstrom6878 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason McCaffrey you need that heat shield. Here is a tip I found out after I did this twice. When you go to take it off again, just take the three bolts off, then put the tire back on, don’t let the jack down. You don’t have to tighten the lugs completely. Once it is on, grab the edge of tire and wiggle the hub out. It should come out pretty easily. If it does not, sit down and use your feet to puts the tire left and right and that should get it out.

    I'm going to attempt this job on my girlfriend's '13 Fusion this weekend (if the weather allows). Thanks for posting this, it lets me know what I'm in for and formulate a plan of attack. After hearing about your issues with getting the hose clamps undone, I went out and bought one of these cable operated hose clamp pliers (www.sears.com/craftsman-cable-operated-hose-clamp-pliers/p-00947390000P), and I am hoping it makes the job a lot easier. I will post a combination how-to and tool review video soon if all goes according to plan.

    The torque on that axle nut should be about 180 ft. lb. If yours was that easy to come off, that could have been the cause for the noisy bearing. Hope you torqued the new nut to the proper torque.

      I too enjoy the vehicle and it's folding seats are a help. My front tire noise was loud when i bought it at 50k and could never figure out what was causing it, hence the new tires.(70k on it now). What was your clue the hub bearings were going? Thank you.
