I miss Japan! I hope to be able to go back one day. I literally felt the same way you did in the video. I lived in Japan for almost a year when I was with my ex. We had to fly our cat with us and she was livid! She was ripping her carrier up, and we were super worried the flight would have to return to the airport if she escaped. So, the flight attendant allowed us to take her to the bathroom to give her an extra dose of sleepy medicine the vet prescribed. She slept the whole way there, which was a huge relief! But it was a nightmare at first. I was so sad but like you, I had to remind myself how grateful I was to be able to just have the opportunity to go and live there. I am glad the rest of your trip was amazing, though! Wish you many blessings and a great vlog! <3

Yea that's for sure because you just started the deck. Once you're review cards begin to balloon I would decrease new card per day. Also recommend setting your decks to use the FRS 2 System. Also as a person who can't vibe with textbooks I suggest video lessons there are many good TH-cam teachers.

TH-cam recommended this to me out of the blue, but I'm so glad it did. I have also studied Japanese! My Mum is Japanese so I knew some vocabulary here and there growing up, but never actively used it. I liked Japanese media, and I wanted to reconnect with my cultural roots, so I majored in Japanese language and culture in university. Even now, although I graduated and passed everything...I am no where near fluent. When I went to Japan I WAS able to hold basic conversations with friends and family, but I still mostly relied on my Mum to be a translator 😅 Most language learners have been in your position where it is frustrating and you feel like you know nothing. But you've got this! 😊 Thank you for sharing your journey, you have inspired me to go back to studying Japanese. Keep it up xo

I don’t think watching the same episode 3 times is worth it, immersion means you have to immerse yourself in the language, meaning no English subtitles. But I get that you want to understand what’s going on so for the time being I think twice, once with English subtitles and the other with Japanese, is good enough. Also, try to shadow. That’s when you repeat every sentence/ word out loud. This will get you more comfortable speaking and make your pronunciation better

My 2cents: I’ve been seriously studying for a year and I’m taking n1. If I were to start again I would do 100 new words a day using wanikani anki deck or a core 10k deck, preferable wanikani don’t do anything else daily mabey do some grammar study a day that’s it until I reached around 2k words then start slowly reading, then switch to word mining when I reach 5k words. Truth is u can’t read shit untill u have a couple thousand words memorised, and the most efficient way is anki decks no way around it. I think efficient immersion is only viable when u have atleast 1k words.

I'm n4 and I use げんき2. Please be patient with yourself. Learning japanese is not easy at all despite what some people on the internet my say. It takes me about two weeks to get through a jenki chapter sometimes three depending on how hard the lessons are for me. I use げんき, and then I go and find others who can explain the grammer point in detail and can give me examples. I then try and make as many sentences as I can on my own with the new grammer and vocab I learned. I have learned over the years to go at my own pace and take my time with the lessons. I have been learning japanese for a very long time, and over the past year I have made the most progress than I have ever made by taking things slow. And I also finally built up the courage to get a tutor on italki.

i've just started learning korean again and i'm trying to take a different approach to it than i do with spanish which has been trial and error, so i really enjoy seeing the diff ways you approach diff languages as well! :))

ive never used the Genki textbooks but from what I heard it does move pretty fast, I began learning with minna no Nihongo which is pretty fast as well but I had a teacher🤧 now im watching Japanese from zero course videos which is less confusing and is so helpful!!

i restarted my korean learning journey not too long ago and i fell like i haven’t been able to retain as much. let’s not give up girl! 😭

please I have a question I'm trying to learn Castilian Spanish, and I wanted to buy the yellow grammar book you showed in the video and Idk if it is Castilian Spanish or Spanish of Latin America? also if it's not Castilian then is it okay to use it ? is there a big difference ?

what you said about speaking is so real! i tend to think a lot, but ive been ~trying~ to practice talking freely and seeing what happens and lowkey i do way better than i thought i would (in terms of flow, but i do have mistakes lol) but its def weird as i'm not used to it so i cant keep it up for long yet :')

Be careful using fabric sprays and the arm n hammer powder. Those scents and powders have potential harmful ingredients for cats. The powder goes into their lungs and ours. NEVER USE ESSENTIAL OILS THEY ARE TOXIC AND CAN SLOWLY KILL YOUR CAT. Best to vacuum often and just use plain baking soda

True, I use simple resources for the language I'm learning. Key word: straightforward, not #fluentin90dayshardcoremode. As for "immersion", I watch a video in the target language, it's an instinct at this point. It's like a reminder and it keeps me in touch with the language. I'd say do what truly works for you, know your own study method, even if it's in "lazy" mode. Honestly, "lazy", chill mode is working wonders for me. Hehe

I went to your page to see how you progressed and was saddened to see you didn't keep up with it. I know the feeling though!! I've started and quit learning both JPN and KR so many times over the years haha it'd be nice to see you get back into it! I'm curious why you switched from WaniKani to RTK - was it the price?
