In round 3 you're trading lots of German territory but the sea zones are quite vulnerable to German air attack. Is this strategy not severely hampered if a player is able to wipe out the British navy here or the ships in the med? I guess it will be costly for Germany to replace fighters and it will make it harder for Germany to trade efficiently if the air force is distracted.
6:54 bottom .04% chance... sad times
Your opponent was very interesting
Tnx for the whooping last week. I blame it on weak dice a couple of rounds and some limit testing. Cheers Kenghis!
GG! I would blame it on too many fighter buys and not enough infantry :P
4:10 Japan Rd1 purchase and rd3 India push walkthrough
Quinn you still playing?
He is current number 1 in platinum tier in season 9 as allies -
So the main lesson I take away is, if you have a bad opening with Rus in Ukraine, against a good player the game is lost.
Great editing compared to most AAA vids. Get rid of the constant "uuhhhh" and we will have a winnner
What a broken game
😒 ᑭяỖmo𝓼𝐦
I like when people play without calculator help.
Nice game
Very instructive how to defend vs heavy air. Love how your videos are concise and you skip most dice rolling, thanks! Also didn't really know how to defend Africa vs Japan once India has fallen, this did provide some useful info on that. Loved the blocking destroyer!
Reuploaded to fix audio issues
Oops, seems like a clip from the end of game #1 ended up making it in there somehow.
10:00 I guess you've misplaced a video from another game round 4 instead of the final board end of round 6 ;) GG anyway, the opponent wasn't very knowledgeable in the game still very nice to show how you find and punish his mistakes to the max
How do you decide between the US attacking the Med versus Norway and Finland?
I send enough units south to trade, typically 2-3 transport loads of units each turn. Excess units are sent to finland to build a long term stack. Norway is taken US2 in most games.
Welcome back! What is your accent btw
Ima guess Czech
Great to see you posting again!
Keep em coming!
Thanks for sharing. That's an interesting approach for the US, to have 3 different landings (Norway, NW Europe, and Morocco). Do you do that to then reinforce success? Seems like it would be hard to set up a consistent shuck with 3 different avenues of approach.
Allies should in general trade as many provinces as possible.
Keep it up love the gameplay
Demand request submitted! Such high quality play is missed
I would be interested to see a run to Platinum for the Allies, to combat this kind of domination....
"I may upload that if there's demand for it". Alright then, I'm demanding it. Cheers!
Awesome video series, comprehensive and to the point. Can't wait for the Allies platinum climb!
Quentin, the way you think this game is awesome! As a content creator who doesn't get many views for my gaming videos either, I know it's about the passion of just sharing.
Hi Quintin. Thank you for the video, it is very informative. I wanted to ask you about your thought process regarding defending your different allied fleet groups. It looks like Germany has 5 fighters and 2 bombers which could hit one of your fleet positions and may have odds to win while probably losing 3-5 fighters depending on which fleet G attacks. Is part of the Med Shuck strategy to almost dare G to attack one of the fleet positions to lose fighters making it even more difficult to trade territories because buying new fighters is expensive and you cannot replenish the inf needed to retake territories?
Yeah you're right. G is being pressured and can only take efficient trades or risk collapsing. A big trade generally favors allies, even if it is in the negative (up to a point). Attacking the boats also has an opportunity cost of not being able to trade all the provinces efficiently. This means that allies can comfortably offer 60% odds on one of the stacks, provided you dont have all your transports in that one SZ. If G hit the US italy stack for example, it wouldnt stop units from landing next turn. Any protection above the point where attacking would be bad for G is wasted IPCs.
@@konstan65 I think this is where Ive been going wrong with my attempts at a Med shuck. Im always trying to keep my fleets safe above 80% or so. But by doing that i'm too slow getting moving, waiting on more defensive fleets. I'll try shooting for around 60% and see how it goes!
You should've had Moscow a Long time ago with Japan gobbling up All those territories of the Russians! Just got '42 Online for my iPad and found that the AI is a terrible opponent with me winning my First 3 games against it in 5-5-3 Rounds, looks like I'll have to find a Live player to actually give me a good challenge!!!
Thank you for the match! Low silver haha, I definitely felt like a toddler getting bludgeoned to death by a fully grown adult that whole time. Really been enjoying your content and trying to expand my knowledge and skill of this game. Thank you for the match and the thorough thrashing. GG!
He got bad dice, BUT, he didn't help himself at all.. GG by rd2
That triple snake eyes on the AAA gun was such BS lmao
Hello there! I see you are a man of culture as well.
Very good commentary. Big fan of your vids!
Good series
I've recently run into the same situation with Ukraine. No AA gun for Russia there though. I went 7 infantry and 3 fighters into Ukraine. I killed all but 1 tank and only lost only 1 infantry (Russia lost 22 IPC there vs my 3). Instead of pursuing and losing my entire stack of remaining infantry to the counter attack, I retreated into Belorussia landing and moving all troops up there to defend. Set me up very nicely for a guarantee to take Karelia or push him out of West Russia next turn.
Are you gonna go plat for allies?
What is your preferred opening build w/ russia?
4 inf and 2 tnaks, the best for a karelia round 2 recapture
I've played this person twice (one time last season, one time this season) and lost to them twice. Nice job! It would be nice if you were to update viewers about your rank after each win/loss on your way to Platinum
hey just like you said, I'm now in the top 10 for both axis and allies (Drifty) we'll see if I can climb all the way to the top, but I think I improved a hundred fold watching your games so, thanks again, love the game and your content! The med shuck in particular feels so strong, I wish there was a tutorial on how to address it as the axis!
There are a few ways to reduce its effectiveness. Mainly accurate stack pivoting. I have a game against another previously top 10 rated player where he shows this pretty well.
@@konstan65 the one against Vanbattlestick right? That one is filled to the brim with take aways, I should give it another go over
@@jamescollins3465 no it's an upcoming video
@@konstan65 aha!
Hey Drifty. Had a game against you a few weeks ago. Had some bad beats and made a couple of mistakes. Would love another crack at it. Hope to see you on the battlefield again soon. Gg though.
Nice Vid Quintin.. Roch_Warrior here
GG. I need to get better at this game. Hahahaha.
gg!
I think 4 inf 2 tank buy has become pretty standard across the tiers
It seems so! It wasnt long ago only platinum players did it though.
Can you show what you purchase as you are explaining what you’re thinking
This is done sometimes in later videos. For axis the buy is usually just inf with 1-2 art.
What are his odds on taking Germany on USA 4? he can hit it with 10 units + 2 bombards against 12 defenders. He should be an underdog, but if he can take it, obviously that's pretty nasty for you.
Oh yeah he has about 33% odds. Probably should have left an additional inf in Berlin that round.
Every video you make is instructional! Made it to plat following your examples, thank you
Glad to hear it! Top 10 is pretty doable with such a small community
@@konstan65 you're right! I was briefly #8 (for axis, gold for allies) but have since dropped to #12
This type of Axis strategy is really relying on your opponent making mistakes with their fleet. I think it works a lot vs low level players.
Whoops, seems the videos are uploaded a bit out of order. This is match #5, next ones will be #3 and #4.
Good to see a new video, I had to check my game that is also against the med carrier to see if US was countering turn 4 like you said, and was relieved to see it on schedule
If buying a carrier as G, what should G's defense profile be for naval combat? Should fighters die before the carrier, or after the carrier?
Carrier first in most naval combat. Only exception is if your fighters dont have anywhere to land.
@@konstan65 Thank you! That makes sense, my line of thinking was that if the carrier dies after the fighters, the battleship can still be defended as fighters are cheaper than carriers
