Van Gogh Sunflowers | Oil Painting Study
This is a half scale oil on canvas study of Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers from 1889 (catalog number F458). This version has a much deeper yellow background colour and a dark brown table edge. Fortunately I somehow resisted the urge to throw a can of soup on it.
The original painting size is 95cm × 73cm (37.4 inches × 28.7 inches) and this reproduction is 45.7cm × 35.6cm (18 inches × 14 inches).
I've sourced colour information from this x-ray study of the painting: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/anie.201505840. Some of the pigments used in the original are toxic but have some modern substitutes. The original pigments and my substitutes are listed below:
• Chrome yellow (for general yellows) → I'm using a cadmium yellow hue
• Emerald green (general greens) → A mix of cobalt blue / cadmium yellow hue / titanium white / zinc white produces a similar colour
• Lead white (more opaque mixer) → I'm using a mix of titanium white and zinc white
• Zinc white (more transparent mixer / predominant in vase base and background) → I'm also using zinc white
• Lead red / Vermillion (mixer for darker oranges) → Cadmium red hue
• Chrome yellow / Vermillion (dark petals) → Yellow ochre
• Chrome yellow / Zinc white (background) → Lemon yellow hue / cadmium yellow hue / zinc white

Van Gogh The Starry Night | Oil Painting Study Timelapse
มุมมอง 63K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Timelapse of an oil on canvas full-scale study of Vincent van Gogh's "The Starry Night" from 1889. I've tried to generally match the original pigments as close as possible. Pigments and differences are noted below (for more detail, ColourLex seems to have the best breakdown colourlex.com/project/van-gogh-starry-night/): - Zinc white (hard to find info on if van Gogh used this white in this pain...
Van Gogh Wheatfield with Cypresses | Oil Painting Study Timelapse
มุมมอง 5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Timelapse of an oil on canvas full-scale study of Vincent van Gogh's "A Wheatfield with Cypresses" from September 1889. I really enjoyed following in Van Gogh's footsteps here. The rough lines and bold colours that Van Gogh confidently puts on the canvas make this painting a joy to study. The result turned out nicely too. I've tried to match the original pigments as close as I could, with some ...
훌륭합니다!
Such technique is so depressive. i can feel a deep sorrow from the beginning....
👌👌👌
Did you paint it with one brush?
Can I color the background blue instead of brown?
👏👏👌🤝

If i had to chose between the original and your copy i wouldn`t what the original or what the copy is. You`ve done a fantastic job in a short time!
What size your canvas is?
Do you use ALQUIN in your colors ? Tremendous ! I like your work 👍
Magnifique 🙌🎼

É tinta óleo? 🥰
Adorei ❤
Estou apaixonada por cada detalhe 😍 que pintura perfeitaaa🥰🤩
video molto interessante. posso chiederti di inserire nei video quali colori usi. aspetto nuovi video
This video has not done as well as the other two. People are not into the sunflowers as much. You need to do some of his less well known work as it’s actually more appealing. i think people are bored by the usual well known works.
Thanks for the feedback. I pick subjects based on what I would like to paint and what painting I would like to have on the wall. If others get some joy out of seeing it, that's great. If it doesn't get many views then that's fine too!
@@artbyari Yes, the same, painted the Starry night for my bedroom and sunfloowers for kitchen) ... maybe they are not so perfect but i like to see it. Now im thinking about painting The Kiss of Gustav Klimt, but I am not sure I can do it) It is more complicated.
What underpainting you used?
Tremendous ! I love your work brother!!!! <3 Go ahead!💙💙
كم انت مبدع رسمك في غايه الروعه💗💋
how long do you finish it?
🙌🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️❤️❤️ Brilliant!
Beautiful!!!!
which brush have you used ?
Three different brushes were used: primary brush strokes were with a round brush (18mm long x 4mm wide), detail was with a filbert (10mm long x 5mm wide), and line work / additional detail was with a worn down round brush (~6mm long x 3mm wide). Thanks for watching!
Thanks @@artbyari. Can you share any links from amazon or etc.
¡Asombroso!
I love your copies of Van Gogh, it's similar enough to immediately recognize it as a study, but your style is unique enough to see your own interpretation shine through. Keep it up!
im using this as a tutorial because this one looks the most like the original painting.
Fantastic. How long did it take you and did you let the oils dry before moving onto the next layer or did you do it all in one go??
Thanks for watching! The majority of the painting took about three days. I let the darker paint dry until it was slightly tacky before moving on to the yellow and white details.
@@artbyari 👍🏻thank you, again great picture
Nice art man!
Thanks!
I hope this channel grows and you can focus perfecting Van Gogh style!
Wow!
After my infatuation with chess, gotten it into my head to paint this in oil. (Perhaps a prelude to another infatuation with an old hobby.) Thanks for sharing your work and will use this as reference :)
Amazing work...keep em coming! It is astounding it only takes him 11 minutes...
Pretty good for only 12 minutes...Imagine what he could paint in a day.
😂
I have a timelapse video on my channel of me building a lugged bicycle frame "in 4 minutes" where somebody commented similarily but he was actually being serious!
I’ve seen better in 12 minutes 🤭
Beautiful! Makes me want to paint. Awesome work.
Beautiful job
Thats cool love it
