One’s sense of identity has many components to it. You have the parts of you that other people see, the parts of you that you feel, and then a mixture of subconscious ideas and ideals that make up your identity. The gray area that lies in all that can lead someone to insanity very quickly. Am I who I believe I am, or am I someone else entirely? “March,” his voice drawls at us. The concrete slabs under my bare feet are ice, but after all these months here my nerves are numbed to it. Iron chains shackle us together. Those of us who have put our time in here are weaker, thinner, but more numbed to the environment. The new ones are bright, vibrant, but overly anxious and excitable. They serve their purpose just as we serve ours though. The flames from the torches adorning the walls casts strange shadows in my vision, until I can no longer tell myself what is real and what is imaginary. I simply place one foot in front of the other to match the person in front and behind me to try to keep the rhythm even. “Stop.” We are in a straight line at this point, and the dance and jingle of our chain begins as we rearrange ourselves into a circle facing one another. We all know this drill now - none of us are new enough not to know. I think back, as I usually do, to my first time doing this. The fear, the unknown, the uncertainty. I had no idea what to anticipate would happen, and deep in my belly felt the edge of death just within reach for any of us. It hung heavy on the air, suffocating each of us and filling a sense of dread within our souls. I’d made peace with things then and there, and every experience after was simply a new echo. “Who wants to go home?” he asks, as he always does. New people usually make a stir, though nobody I’d seen had plainly answered the question. It is laced with malice and deceit, his luring voice willing your mind to say me. He repeats his question, still to no answer, then moves on to his next. “Who here is the eldest?” This question always felt like a silly game to me. Of course we all knew he was the eldest - his bright white, granite skin untouched by time. Not a blemish or wrinkle mars his skin, nor a gray hair sprouting from his head. His bright red eyes are what give away his identity, the only edge his prey can have. His irises the color of bright red blood, his corneas black as night. There is no mistaking him for the monster he is. We all remain silent except for the small, even breaths we all take. They form clouds in front of us from the biting chill in the air. He once again repeats his question, then moves on. “Who here can love me?” He attempts to add sorrow to his voice, a trick we know - or at least most of us do. Even I have found myself wondering if that is what all this is for, a state of boredom and loneliness that has led him down this path. I know better now. This questions is not repeated, instead he lets out a roaring hiss that splits my head in two for a moment and leaves one of my ears bleeding. His nostrils flare at the sight and he pounces immediately to my side. I wonder who I will be tonight. I have spent many nights as Arabella, Edwin, Josephine, Reginald, all people this creature has lost. Time passes in odd spurts here. He plays his games, drinks until he forgets, puts us back in the hole, and does it all over again. I have lost track of myself. I forget who I am, who I was. I forget my loved ones, and how I got here. Time passes in a blur of decisions and moments that lead me exactly back to where I started. I wake, back in the dungeon again, this time something else burns in me - thirst. “March,” I tell my prey, and begin lining them up for questioning. - Written by MEL

It started as a routine mission. Apollo XIII-NASA’s latest attempt to study the far reaches of the Helios Expanse, a newly discovered area of space where no human had ventured. The crew consisted of Captain Elena Hayes, Dr. Mark Preston, Chief Engineer Riley Yang, and Lieutenant Aiden Clark. They were equipped with the latest tech, the most advanced spacecraft, and the best training humanity had to offer. At first, everything seemed normal. The routine comms check-ins. The periodic health reports. The ever-growing distance from Earth. But on the seventh day, something strange began to happen. The first sign was subtle. A brief distortion in Elena’s voice during a routine transmission. A barely audible crackle, followed by what sounded like a distant scream. The transmission quickly returned to normal, but NASA’s techs flagged it as a potential issue with the ship’s communication array. No one thought much of it. The second sign came the following day. A more pronounced distortion. This time, Elena’s voice had a raw edge to it, something feral. “Mark,” she said, but the word stretched, contorted, like it was being dragged through some unseen force. Then, after a few seconds of static, her voice returned, calm, almost unnervingly so. “Just a glitch,” Preston muttered to himself as he glanced at the monitors. His brow furrowed, but he didn’t voice his concerns. They had more important things to focus on, like calibrating the sensors and studying the anomaly just ahead. But then came the scream. It wasn’t Elena’s voice. It was a high-pitched wail, full of anguish and terror. NASA’s techs were used to the occasional interference, but this sound-this was different. It wasn’t mechanical. It was raw, primal, alien. They immediately relayed it back to the crew. “Elena, do you copy?” came the frantic voice of Mission Control. Then Silence. All feed was cut from that port of the ship. Static filled the air and we only received negative Interference from the comms. Hours turned into days before a transmission came through. It was received from Lieutenant Clark, however the transmission was choppy, only being intelligible in fragmented words, "Elena...gone...alien...killed..." After his last sentence came in clearly for only moment, "It mimics her screams..." The transmission cut after that. A few days later the camera in the north port began to receive a signal. The static was bad, but the sight was worse. We can't begin to describe what we saw on that feed, but it's what we heard that disturbed us the most. Somewhere on the ship, Captain Elena Hayes is screaming, but it doesn't sound right through the interference.

Update on my shower thoughts I don’t have any direction for my relationship anymore but next weekend I’m going to see her in person and by then if she cancels our plans I’ll keep you updated any ways I think my best friend will be a better option if we don’t work out we have more in common and are in the same level many long shower thoughts till my next decisions

Love how there's a diary entry from a random worker in the description. Really sells the narrative of being a regular low level worker in the foundation, unsure of what type of organisation it is and what it does, but realising it's probably not that important and just getting back to work.
