I literally think the saxophone is not a part of the orchestra because it would make half the instruments pointless (I say this as a non-saxophonist).

Was not expecting this glorious sound from a saxophone considering I normally associate the instrument with jazz (not that jazz is bad, it's just good in a different way from orchestral music), the saxophone manages to sound like horns, winds and even strings at times. I have severely underrated this instrument.

Now imagine if this had soprillo, sopranino, contrabass, and subcontrabass sax, I would sell my tuba to hear that

Fun fact: the saxophone was originally created to be a perfect blending instrument for traditional orchestra. Other musical figures at the time didn’t like the man who created it, and spread the news that it sounded terrible, so it was sentenced to jazz forever. And while it is great for jazz, it’s really sad that we don’t get to hear stuff like this more often. Beautiful playing!
