I am 73 now and retired and started collecting Medicare when eligible. So I have Medicare A an B, I am retired Civil Service Have BCBS, and Retired Air Force 21 yrs.with Tricare for Life I have no advantage plans I don't think they would benefit me in any way. Only thing I do purchase a second Dental plan which still falls short from the Civil service Plan combined so to speak whats your take on my situation.
So using the Ozempic example, after two months at $1000/mo, you're at cap and not billed further?
Yes! So the $2,000 you would owe, is paid by your Part D sponsor. Then the Part D sponsor can bill you monthly for the cost . But yes, of all the drug quotes we have ran this year .. none have come back over $2000 annually if all of the drugs were on formulary.
@LMSInsuranceGroup Thank you. So to clarify, Ozempic months 1 and 2 if on formulary are $2k for both months, resulting in a monthly pmt of $166. Months 3-12 are not charged. Payment doesn't resume until 2026, correct?
@@raffinataonline yes your interpretation is correct. When we are running quotes this year ... very often people aren't even hitting 2k. The way the drug cost is calculated.. very often the Medicare beneficiary will pay much less than 2k because of the formula they use to calculate it.
Wow I finally found someone who explained this situation more clearly thank you and I didnt know about the MA plan I will check it out thanks again..
As a100 percent veitnam veteran who lives several hundred miles from the nearest VA hospital I use my Medicare alot I've had to have several surgeries and not possible to drive for several hours to go to salt lake va hospital, and besides when I use the local va clinic they charge my Medicare anyway.
Scam, don't do it
I am covered by TFL. Would it be advantageous to enroll in Humana USAA Honor Giveback (PPO) H5216-348? I can get prescriptions at the military pharmacy. Not sure of what is meant by: "If qualified" or if TFL as secondary would pay the co-pays for specialists. Thanks
Give us a call and we can review ! 855-543-3765.. but in general, yes you are on the right path
I gave Medicare A and B, but through some other care system, it costs me very little and would be a great 2nd Opinion IF I could ever get to go to any of them! The VA here, in every case, has done everything they can to block me going anywhere else by scheduling their so called " critical appountment" which you must attend or somehow your VA benefits get affected. They make UT sound like something gad...and when the VA critical appointment comes up..oh, wait...the Dr went on vacation, A conference, or some other reason and they cancel it! You reschedule, they do the same thing again. And the VA wants us to trust them for all our medical care!
Retired reserves who obtained pay at age 60 go into tricare are at 65 go into tricare for life are shoved into Medicare. Also at 65 in order to obtain the indefinite retired ID card you must provide proof of application to Medicare or no ID card.
I have Medicare A&B with Tri Care for Life. My question is do I need to buy a Health Insurance policy also?
I am a 100% disabled vet permanent and total rated since 1997 or so. My question is I signed up for Medicare when it was first offered to me and I have the best or most expensive supplemental policy thru USAA . As I have had many medical bills these past 25 years or so and using Medicare and my supplemental insurance I have been out of pocket very little for some extremely high medical bills mostly surgeries etc. My question is now that I am older and inflation has eaten away at my retirement income is there a way to get the same coverage using a combination of Medicare and my va benefits? I was told yesterday that I have liver cancer so probably some major expenses coming for treatment etc. Thanks I appreciate your information for all veterans, very helpful.
thanks for the video also we asked that question me and my wife on the phone together at the VA call center we asked them could we use the Medicare and the VA the lady on the phone says if I use Medicare I will lose my VA swear to the conversationwhat do I do
I’m service connected 100%
Thank You
If a community hospital goes bad you can drive across town to another if the VHA leadership flips it will be a very long wait as in 4 or more years before a change has a chance.
Thanks for the explanation. It's one of the most clear ones that I've seen yet. How does one 'use' QMB? I'm in Michigan and it doesn't look like there is a separate card. If you have original Medicare and QMB, how does QMB pay out?
If you have QMB, you have a Medicaid billing number. Every provider you go to should have your Medicare card along with your Medicaid billing number. In Ohio , they do issue paper cards with the billing # on it .. not sure about Michigan though
Totally bogus. If you do a "Medicare Disadvantage Plan" , (1) The insurance company can delay or deny treatment. (2) YOU have to pay the costs not covered by Medicare, and then submit claims and argue with the insurance company to get repaid. (3) Remember that insurance companies have ONE goal. That is to make as much profit as possible. They will screw you every way possible to maximize their profits.
Why ccant the VA charge Medicare co-pay charges?
THAT’s the PRICE you PAY for that Zero-premium plan.
I've been subject to prior authorizations under non-Medicare employer group insurance. About the only good thing I could say about employer insurance was they were paying most of the premium.
Hey Larry you help me and my friend understand Medicare and tricare .I ❤ it .I'm going to call your office again to setup an appointment for myself and my cousin to get a review of my coverage. Thanks for the help 😊
Good info over all. I just turned 56 and won my SSDI case while still awaiting a decision on my VA disability claim (it's in stage 3 since April-ish this year). My Medicare starts Oct 1 according to SSA. I have already been hospitalized twice and to the ER 3 times in addition to these two stays and VA Community Care picked up all of that. Only thing I have left to look at is if it will be cheaper to get prescriptions from drug store vs. VA since I have a copay either way at this point.
Thanks! Great stuff.
Loved this video. I retired from the California Highway Patrol. I’m also 100 % disabled from the military. So I have the v a health also. So right now Medicare is my primary and the CHP plan is my secondary which pays for most of my drugs prescriptions. You said if you get the MA plan it will pay my part B Medicare. But no drugs. From others how would they get their prescriptions paid for. So for me I have Medicare as my primary insurance which cost me $174 a month and the CHP which is Blue Cross prudent buyer plan PPO as my secondary ins. If I get Medicare part C the MA only. How will that help me. Will it get rid of my 174 a month ? Not sure I understand what you said about the plan C. MA only for veterans. Would I have to pay for my Medicare part C MA plan only ? Thank you so much. Gary Adams please answer all.
Medicare is supposed to be a benefit for seniors but it is going to cost me more than my current Tricare Prime. We should not be forced to get Medicare. I was told by Tricare I had to have Medicare Parts A and B to keep my Tricare Prime which then becomes Tricare for Life.
But...Medicare "advantage" Plans are NOT zero premiums. Who pays those expensive premiums? Answer: The Taxpayers. The premiums are actually coming out of the Medicare Fund in large chunks. Medicare "advantage" Plans are ruining traditional Medicare. All those "extra benefits" are being paid by the Medicare Fund (that was not funded for all those extra benefits). When the Medicare Fund goes dry because of those "extra benefits" it will be a sad state of affairs for Senior Citizens. In my opinion, NOBODY should enroll in any Medicare "advantage" Plans. I repeat: Medicare "advantage" Plans are NOT zero premiums.
Thank you so much brother!!
I also see a Neurosurgeon outside the VA with Community Care as well
I already have Part A and B Medicare since i was age 40, I opted for it just in case i end up in a hospital other than a VA one
Some military retirees took early retirement at the 15 year mark - end of the cold war - 1994-1996. I believe they are eligible for Tricare for life
I military retired under the Reagan years with 18 years of service they offered earning retirement you do not cover that for people in my situation probably do not know because you strictly say 20 years retirement. I’ve got my military ID card retired of course Medicare A an B. Plus, veterans benefits..
A lot of misinformation in this video. To get Champva you must be a dependent or spouse of a 100 percent P and T disabled veteran. Also, not all veterans qualify for VA healthcare due to having an income too high. Thirdly, medically retired veterans get Tricare without having to serve 20 years in the military.
howdy thanks for your feedback! This is not about ChampVa so I don't know why you mentioned that? Same with Tricare . Those programs each need a video on their own . I am just talking about regular VA benefits . And if a veteran has a very high income.. he/she would be a priority group 8.. but would still receive VA benefits, just would have copays .
@@LMSInsuranceGroup they are not enrolling new priority group 8 enrollees
The reason you would steer someone to an Advantage plan is because they cannot leave that plan. Very quickly after signing up they are stuck and cannot leave the advantage plan without going through a medical review and coming out as perfectly healthy. Any issues and you are not allowed to go to traditional medicare.
You are allowed to go back to original Medicare during Open Enrollment EVERY year .You can leave Part C , and return to Original Medicare A and B on 1-1 ANY year .
@@LMSInsuranceGroup <----<< That is a lie and you know it is a lie. If you sign up for "Advantage" you have a short window to switch to original and once that window goes by you can only switch if you go through AN EXHAUSTIVE MEDICAL REVIEW and are determined to be in excellent health with no preexisting conditions and that means that REALISTICALLY no one can go back after the initial window is closed.
@@LMSInsuranceGroup <----<< That is at best deceptive but is really just an out and out lie. After the short initial period on "Advantage" the only way to go to original medicare is to go through an exhaustive medical examination and test out as being in just about perfect health, in other words it is about impossible to go back to original from an Advantage plan.
You could also leave your Advantage plan for a different Advantage plan during the Annual or Open Enrollment periods, if you cannot pass underwriting to get a Supplement to go with original Medicare. There is no underwriting to enroll in or switch Advantage plans. Larger-population counties usually have dozens of Advantage plans to choose from. Some plans are better than others.
@@g0989 <----<< The mistake is going onto an Advantage plan in the first place. The advantage ends the second you have to go to the doctor and the bills come pouring in. The max out of pocket for Advantage plans is THOUSANDS MORE EACH YEAR.
I am a p&t veteran in Wyoming. The VA* has been terrible getting me orthotics, even though I have a in service disability needing orthotics. The have played every game in the book with me. Plus I have ptsd and it had been hard to get emdr therapy.
I.have some other questions. How can I reach u?
What about veterans who utilize the Community Care feature provided VA approves ? Never had a problem since I became eligible . I see my own doctors and hospital facilities . Also I was under the impression the VA will not provide dental coverage for preventive care . Lastly the VA covers all medications at a low cost about 10 percent at most - so do not take part b or d or any other plans that cause premiums . I save at least 250 monthly by just having an individual dental plan as VA covers all . Would appreciate a response . Thanks !Tom
Howdy ! I did an entire video on community care two weeks ago . Check it out ! And In regards to not taking B or D .. you do whatever makes you happy . Thanks for your service
They do not pay 100% of your dental, are glasses
What if you are 100% PT ? How would it work then.
USB In Birmingham Alabama, is the #1 heart surgery Hospital in America.
Been there done that !!!
What happens if Medicare doesn't pay the entire bill ?
Typically the Medical Provider just writes it off as a Loss then files Business Deductions along those lines under their losses, they know how to do it for recoupment. Ur 0FF the hook. But I'm only speaking from experience. Medicare has an agreement with ALL Providers who take it that whatever medicare offers to pay is only what that Provider recieves in Billing. Anything left over unpaid is rarely on you. Hospitals are a little different but even then what is left in most cases as a balance is small. I've done payment plans before, and you can even wheel and deal with them over the phone to reduce what you owe them. Been there & done that
Will look/wait for video Re how it works when retired military retires on disability from civ job and takes Medicare, and spouse works. This was a disappointing eye opener for me. Working spouse pays first. Would have liked to know before open season.
The VA encourages..... that's when you know it's not in your best interest. Skip Medicare and just go to the ER, works for illegals....
I was asking these questions for past 3 years and NOBODY knew the answers. So I hope you're right about being able to use the two separate government programs simultaneously. I've continued using community care via the VA and the State of Colorado was covering my Part B deductible for Medicare. Graciously I have finally been awarded 100% permanent disability from the VA but will be happy to keep Medicare if I can continue to get it paid somehow. Only thing I find concerning here though is what about getting prescriptions covered when I see a Medicare Doctor? I doubt the VA will fill prescriptions NOT coming from a VA Doctor... right?
Thanks for your service and your feedback . You absolutely can use both Medicare and your VA benefits independently. In regards to your last question.. You are correct . There are only certain special circumstances where the VA will fill drugs prescribed by private doctors outside the VA. I have plenty of clients who just use both . They take advantage of the Medicare side for some of the extra benefits.. the dental , vision etc ect .. and they use the VA to get their RX because of the great price there. Especially the name brand drugs!! Generally , Medicare Part D covers generics at a very low price.. its the name brands where you can get tremendous savings at the VA.
Great information. No one reviewed these programs in other videos I have watched.
MY HEART WILL FAIL ME SOON. AORTIC STENOSIS. I AM COMBAT INFANTRY VIETNAM 1966
I HAVE COMMUNITY CARE THROUGH THE VA
ScAm!!!! Its a money making scam beware
Hell no medicare! Evil scamming
I thought we automatically got put on ut at 65

So I am 45 100% disabled and just got ssdi! Will I be penalized for medicare if I don't take it right now at 45 and want it at 65?
The dental and vision and food box is not true
