Boosting training to help midwives support antenatal screening decisions
มุมมอง 22หลายเดือนก่อน
All pregnant women in England are offered screening tests to identify the chance of having a baby with Down’s syndrome, Edwards’ syndrome or Patau’s syndrome. It’s important for women to make an informed, personal decision about whether or not to have the tests, and midwives help them to do this by providing information and having a discussion during the first antenatal appointment. Midwives wa...

Minor comment: why do we call "women's reproductive years" to the years of adulthood, say, pre-menopausal? Why we just don't call it "women's menstruating years", or "active cycling years"? If we want to move forward from limiting narratives about women's main role in society being reproduction...

We live in a society that ignores men and panders to women with a health service that does the same so when can feel like they are being ignored but as this segment shows, it is men being ignored and women couldn't care less. Anything to be a victim. I look forward to the next lot of rubbish when come up with. How they are being ignored when it comes to testicular (a word not even in my phone's dictionary) cancer.

Thank you for bringing HG to the public as there is not enough awareness even in the medical community. My 22 year old daughter is struggling to gain the strength to find the confidence in the system to take care of her in her moment of need when dehydration occurs the responses from the ER is mostly non caring and judgmental towards her. The simple admiration of fluids would help her in these moments yet it’s the most difficult task to get the support. Very sad when the response is “ what do you want us to do” stop coming back so often! Youth and not able to advocate in a low moments during HG shouldn’t be happening in 2023! Thank you for making HG a topic of conversation to change the narrow view that society and healthcare holds.

This woman is talking nonsense when she recommends taking in calcium in order to aid the loss of calcium in our bones. Women who think they will be safe from bone loss while going into menopause or through menopause are misinformed. Eating lots of yoghurt, drinking lots of milk will only accelerate bone loss because when we pee the calcium we already naturally have in our bones and then accumulate calcium from dairy products all gets pee’s out thereby depleting our bones faster.

My cousin was diagnosed with endometriosis by a private doctor and had surgery, after she left her job she lost her private health insurance. When she went to her NHS* GP he told her she didn't have endometriosis and it was all in her head. This is the level of gas lighting that women are dealing with from the medical profession. * Private doctors are just as good at being fucking terrible at their jobs as NHS doctors. Another one of my cousins almost died of cancer because a private doctor told her, her symptoms were IBS. The NHS saved her life. The common thread is doctors not believing patients when they say something is wrong.
