I had this same car, and same issue back in 2017. Lost an alternator. The dealership service dept. warned me about the issue, but I declined. The leak seemed very minor. I degreased the engine and the valve body, and the leak seemed to not return. About a year later, Lost another alternator. couldn't find just the gaskets anywhere. Hell, I never found gaskets anywhere that looked like what you ended up with. I did not know about rock auto then. Anyway, took it to the dealer, and the repair in the service manual must say you need to remove the valve cover, because I had a few new valve cover bolts on my engine, lol. The repair cost me A LOT more than your mechanic quoted you. At the time, I would have gladly paid that much! Lots of dealers replace the valve and the gaskets because they say otherwise people come back with another leak, I don't know if that's true. They sealed the valve with LOTS of grey looking silicone seal. Few years later the AC compressor went out on that car, and my mechanic quoted me half the value of the car to fix, so I sold it. I should have kept it for another few years esp with gas being so expensive now.

Probably a super dumb question, but do you actually have to remove the fan on the passenger side to be able to loosen the belt? Or is it just to allow for more room? My car is dead and stuck sitting over a side walk and the left fan has two 10 mm bolts on the bottom that I can’t reach.

@@khawarha This is what has me confused, I don’t think I can actually use a normal 14 mm socket wrench because it looks like I may need a special tool, one of the pulleys/ gears has what looks like a washer with a star shaped indent inside the circle and there’s what looks like a solid nut that’s attached to part of the belt pulley system, I don’t know which part I actually need to be pushing on.
