BS company...all hot and full of crap
I feel this way as well applied to about 2500 jobs in 2 years and still nothing so its not just you brother its rough out there. I also have 20 years experience in the filed i wonder how students are finding anything right now its crazy out here im now selling fish to get by at a fish market.
Hey, I am sorry to hear about that man. I hope that the prospects of getting something for you improve - but it still does not look that promising for me and others in a similar situation.
I feel the same when it comes to the Fed. Most employeed people cant understand from our perspective when they are told. "Nobody is hiring." They see the signs posted outside seemingly every single businesses saying "We're hiring" like its the bat signal. When in fact businesses are running on skeleton crews... while still firing people.
Completely agree
Whats your take on them now?
Hey Pete, hope you had a merry Christmas and all the best for 2025. Hope you aren't affected by all the fires. Take care
Hey, I wish you a happy holidays and near year too. I am okay - the fires are in LA County and I live in Orange County which is a few hours away.
@@peterigas2494 glad you're ok. take care. 😀
Yo Bro how’s it going? Was a tough day for me today Bro. Still no luck on a job. Hope you had some luck and are doing well. Hope you are well Bro
Hey man, yeah hope that it can get better. Lol recruiters on social media are saying that we should expect for a “hiring surge” at the beginning of the year but it seems to be far the case from what we will probably see with more mass layoffs coming over the horizon. Hope you are too.
@ dang man. I’m hanging in there Bro. Low key kind of depressing lately but making it through. Let’s see how long all this lasts for.
GM will alway be the king of automotive industry! Look at how they destroyed Tesla!😊
I got so dizzy a minute in from you walking in circles, was interesting so far but had to leave
Sorry lol. I have more recent videos on similar topics when I sit down and talk about things
@ I watched some of your others thanks!
GM is literally nowhere with EVs, not a single hit product, no software ability, no charging network, Cruise is effectively done/doomed, China sales fell off a cliff (and they only own half of that business).... no idea how it will survive.
Did you get a job analyzing the automotive industry why all the car company videos all of a sudden
$100.000 msrp for a new truck,&suv both which are manufactured junk now same with all the car brands good riddance.. greed, over paid and incentivized workers putting out a shotty product chickens have come home to roost on both sides of the line, corporate/U.A.W/ LINE WORKER.
EV will always fail for the most people (living in apartments). Assessment of Toyoda is correct. Market share potential is about 30%. GM is a woman lead company. Good Luck with that.
Government Motors - screwing bond holders to bail out the unions should go out of business again without government intervention
What does quantum computing have to do with building affordable vehicles? I live off grid because I can’t afford the 142,000 dollars to bring grid power to my property. Most consumers cannot afford the cost of new vehicles and trucks.
Yeah, automakers were using quantum computing for determining favorable compounds that could be used to synthesize “next generation” EV batteries
What would your advice be to someone who got layed off or what are your own plans moving forward?
Hi Pete , I believe there is global recession coming soon. Hopefully it never happens. But looking at global war scenerio, with collapse of germany and france, I see major recession. We got just few months.
Yeah, its not looking good at all, inclusive of the emerging deficit in Frnace on the order of billions
more layoffs!???
Yea I am playing around with Google Gemini and in the 2.0 model it can generate code pretty good. I’m not the best coder, I’m more front end, business based but with the AI help i can get around if the problem isn’t too difficult.
Yeah I need to learn to use it more. Apologies- was meaning to get back to your comment on the other video!
Thanks for your perspective on the status of software engineering in the larger tech companies and automotive companies.
They are entirely separate issues. Luigis observations and opinions are spot on. His actions were wrong, were criminal , and he is rightfully charged with murder.
It's the thought that counts
Completely agree. As I mentioned in the video, whih others certainly agree with, blindly supporting violence is disturbing. If someone does not like the business policies of ANY company, he or she can take their business elsewhere.
I think they just want software engineering to be a welfare program for the rest of the world
If I could offer a polite rebuttal: Firstly, 80% (An exceedingly charitable estimate) of U.S. Politicians are bought and paid for; Regulatory capture is *pervasive* and part of every corporation's playbook, and lobbyists of every stripe have *infested* the People's House. Companies are paying for access to legislators whom *ostensibly* work for the people. Secondly, You may have some blind spots RE: your personal healthcare experience. Privilege is a *tremendously* powerful force. Institutionalized racism is rampant. Thirdly, whistleblowers *HAVE* been murdered, by Boeing, if not by UHC. Any one requesting that you go through the proper channels *has access to the proper channels* and is confident your efforts will fail. People have tried to escalate this properly. "Why haven't I heard about this?" someone might say. Because of Four: nearly every mainstream media outlet is owned by billionaires. Fifth, Dr. Martin Luther King himself said "a riot" - or in this case violence - "is the language of the unheard." Number six, if the pen is mightier than the sword, then how much more death and suffering can that same pen inflict...? Murder through layers of abstraction is still murder, *especially* if you created those abstraction layers. Number Seven, if healthcare is required and then the company fights tooth and nail to avoid delivering *their own damn product*... that's just theft, i.e. a compelled transfer of economic resources. If I could end with a couple of viewing recommendations, for Mr. Rigas and/or the comments section: th-cam.com/video/HZl_ZBzvifA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/evWw_Jxv_ro/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Jzolhk8aVP8/w-d-xo.html .
Karma.
😱
I love how even if I did not know the topic of this video, by the way you’re talking, I know you’re an engineer. At first, I thought maybe this was a AI voiceover. 😂
😂😭
Software engineering and development has been bloated since the late 00's. Back then, developers were told to earn more money they should work as contract employees. In the 00's companies screamed they would keep all the contractor software engineers who were valuable, only to watch them cut them all at the drop of a hat. Team leads would beg to keep someone, but no one was maintained by management. I watched programs accrue massive delays in the process. But industry thought a disposable group of highly skilled employees was a good thing... SW staff figured out this "trick" and started only "hard badging" at companies. Industry shifted in response. The big SW and Auto companies suddenly started hiring all of the formerly contract employees and the enormous quantity of new hires. But there wasn't enough work for them. Countless of them jumped online complaining that they only did power points and attended meetings all day. They never wrote any code, or even tested any software systems. They had almost zero product exposure and were garnering no experience. Then industry shifted again and encouraged "communication skills".....People don't study software engineering or computer science to talk all day....and no one is going to hire them for communications work, and they know it. It was pointless tasks for a group of very intelligent people. Industry then encouraged "remote work" for SW staff. Why work in the office when you can sit around your apartment! The other engineers were legit jealous at first, cuz we weren't' given the privilege. But this was also a trap. Layoffs cause morale issues. It's less of an issue if no one has ever "really" met the entire team that was let go. And as we have seen over the last few years, these "excess" SW staff are now being laid off by hundreds of thousands. Just like chip development in the early 00's, powerful industry leaders want to export SW to other countries. It's a horrible mistake, but it appears to be their plan.
They will be replaced with cheap third world fighting age male browns as rapidly as possible.
Nice video, maybe you should be a TV news host or maybe a TH-camr of making a video like this
Yo what sector did you work in before? Bioscience and Engineering? What if we don’t get jobs and need to create our own company? I was in consulting before. I am thinking of working on creating AI agents that will act to supplement the work of consultants. I am thinking that at least for the Discovery process, I can create multiple AI agents whose end product will be a business process document. I can do with 1 personal what would have been a 3-4 person team. And charge far far less than regular consulting companies. What are your thoughts?
Greek?
youre definately in a niche of news for the high iq. where do you see yourself taking things with youtube.
I guess Ozempic trimmed too much fat... .
Unfortunately 😕
Because, when you have republicans, the police are on the side of the owners. It is that straight forward.
I've been out of work for a month now after the multi-national company I worked for decided to send my job to brazil to save a little money. Merry xmas to me I guess. The important thing is that the execs got large bonuses and were able to exercise their stock options. Can't have them going another month with another new rolex, right?
good concept pete. for one, there is a contrast on the main concept of life. that the usa gov/company hybrid does not really care, about it, showing in their feeding wars, money and weapons to kill humans to this very day. so that the management of capital to human life care is a thing, goes woosh over the "hybrid" of gov/companies minds. you will need a foundational change in culture overall on every level of humans. the main change you can do now is a parallel system that cares for human biological degredation. the current hybrid of gov/company has shown that theyre not capable of managing this concept. theyre too fragile for their existence, is contrary to fulfilling, care to humanity to a managemnt of high amounts of money. a big potential on the horizon is a robotics /Ai locked system that is self defensed at corruption and dismantling, to effect health and care to humans. the Ai system would be self sustained self regulating self defensed, self growing with programmed main priorities to dispense health care to all humans, manage resources such as the money input to healthcare, manage new health technologies inputs and applications (research, health care machines (lasers, bio labs, vacinne labs, scans, robotics, nano machibe application) scientists etc) health care is too important to be managed by humans and their derivative money systems. time has shown that there have been improvements but there has been a lag recently in relation to money within the overall health systems. at least in usa, but the average is likely the same.
This channel is blowing up. You make top videos Pete
we will win
you should do some work in scientific field,. lets do a startup. you do understand that these gov/company hybrid ecosystems are manipulated, your analysis on them can be wasted on that. there is more information that is missing that they hold, to create a full picture. they know why theyre doing certain moves and what theyre going to do next, most of it is not market conditions, because they usually make the markets. you have to be one step ahead of them
Corporations dont want workers anymore.
The slaves got too uppity for the overlords.
Hey Pete, the people saying the economy is strong and resilient are doing something called Gaslighting.
EV'S caused a mess of everything. Climate change is a political weapon. Nothing more.
Well if you let Ontario steal good paying jobs?
Great insights except that you could have tried to address the larger audience
Hey man, I am a newer subscriber. I find myself not watching any of your videos when you upload 4-5 at a time. If you upload 1 at a time I would watch them all, but I haven’t watched any apart from making this comment. Something to consider kindly, thanks!
I wish BRK would buy Stellantis and hire a qualified US CEO. Trim the lineup and bring back the V8.
there needs to be some kind of accountability for execs greenlighting terrible business decisions
Completely agree
Thanks, really good content. One advice as an unbiased spectator to imrpove your reach here on yt. Pauses/periods are really important in speaking, especially when you have tendency to dose the words fast... changing the speaking pace or tone of voice helps listener to concentrate better.
i have a masters degree. graduated in 2023 from tufts + harvard. cant get a real job to save my life about 600 apps in
some of the interviews i take have assignments to do at home, i'm getting so sick of these - it's obvious it's just part of a project and not an assessment at all. i even got a call weeks after getting rejected asking me how a function i wrote worked. the job market in the UK is broken.
tell the truth brotha! Sothebys always been about the people......
