I didn't look it up, but I'm guessing Ayizan was pressed once which inevitably leads to a kind of cult status today. I think that as a 50-year lookback; that's the case with vinyl as a whole today. Mud Rock? I'd have to say that today, that record in your hands is the first time I've ever seen it. Did they tour the US back in the day? Probably not. Totally talking out of my ass at the moment. But where I'm going with this is as follows: if you take the popular 60's & 70's music and study the pressing history of the popular titles and compare it to records that are suddenly gaining popularity today (Nuggets, Dust, Farm, etc) it boils down to the entrepreneurial risk takers on the publishing side who create buzz with these new issues as the original buyers; the old farts who are now in their 70's are getting memory jabs and pangs of nostalgia (like me now). But it's the young buyers who are buying these titles at $35 - $100. I'm overstating the obvious, but you as a future retailer will see this first hand on the sales floor from the customer POV, I reckon.

Hey buddy! So jealous of everything you are doing. Don’t worry too much about Barry Louis Polisar’s ‘My brother thinks he’s a banana’. It’s more for my daughter than myself, I’m sure you will come across it soon enough. Also if you come across a copy of AUM’s album called ‘Resurrection’ I’v been trying to get half decent copy of that album for years, they only pressed in the US and would love a OG copy. Hopefully you will be getting your copies of Mud soon, let me know when you get it. Now onto RSD, it’s not really my thing, I’m all about having an original copy, for example that copy of The Groundhogs ‘Crosscut Saw’ you can buy an original decent copy here in the UK for only £10 very easily so why does anyone need a reissue? I don’t want to start ranting, I love the whole idea of record store day is great that it brings the whole vinyl community together to help out independent record stores which is amazing, but Iv had some bad experiences with RSD the past couple years that has put me off. I get up early and stand in lines for hours to get the records that I wanted only to find out they have already sold out, for example I really wanted the new black keys record this year (Im big fan of early black keys) and I was 10th in line at my local record store only to find out it was sold out already and talking to the record owner they only pressed 400 copies for the whole country which worked 2 copies per store. The most annoying thing is that I thought well ok maybe I not have gotten it but the people who do will enjoy it at least, only to find there are bunch for sale already online selling for £100’s already!!! 😡 I also have had in the past when I do get my hands on a copy from RSD that might be a limited exclusive press from an artist I like, it just never is any good as what the artist has done in the past. Look I’m ranting now, I’m going to stop but like I said RSD is a great thing but Iv just not had a lot of luck with it, maybe next year.

I really want that Romeo Void at the Mabuhay. A buddy of mine queued up at Tower Records in Shibuya an hour ago and the store opens in 2- hours. If he doesn’t exhaust the ¥35,000 in his pocket on RSD Saturday releases, I might be the owner of it…

Dude! what a rad clutch of vinyl, there’s not one you have shown that I don’t want. I have some early Budgie, ‘never turn your back on a friend’ is one to look out for. The only sabbath on vertigo I own is ‘paranoid’. I have come across some Mud records but not in good enough condition for me to send over, yet….

Most "Arista Freedom" (Black Lion) albums are essentials....Shepp, Tolliver, Curson, Lowe, Braxton, Hemphill, Oliver Lake, Marion Brown, Cowell, Waldron, Hanna, Weston, Andrew Hill, Ayler, Rudd, Burrell etc....

To me all Yusef Lateef 50s + 60s albums are essentials!

Nice pick up on the Voidoid record. Great early punk. I just picked up a OG Swervedriver from 98 yesterday, always an enjoyable spin. Love XTC, wonderful pick up, those are the type of albums that are so exciting to find. Figured I would come back and watch your next video. Some killer stuff. I just grabbed that a Funkedelic also. Your tag popped up in my stream. Loved that Nigerian Funk album. I have a lot of African rock and funk albums, incredible music really came from the continent in the 70s, mind blowing stuff. On my tag I also showed some African music which is generally expected. I need to check that out. Enjoyed your tag and gave you a sub.

Love McCoy Tyner but haven't heard this one! Will def be checking it out. And 100% on the Arista Freedom label. Some super interesting stuff to be found there, my favorites are probably the two Julius Hemphill records (one of them being a reissue of the self-released Dogon A.D.)

Hey Bob! Saw Martin’s vinyl tag and thought I’d stop by. You knocked it right out of the park on the first one. I immediately paused your video and visited her band camp and was blown away. I love ambient if it’s done well, and she has done it amazingly well. Heartbreaking and beautiful work. XTC is one of those groups I haven’t dug into yet, mostly out of fear of having to complete the catalog. Sometimes I cannot get stopped when I get started. I saw a copy of English Settlement the other day at the store. Is that a good starting point? That picture of Jake the Snake and Alice Cooper is amazing. Love that art style.
