    How would you change colors?

  • @DevilOnlyKnitsLace
    @DevilOnlyKnitsLace 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I use a Russian join when changing colors, especially in lacework. Decades ago I worked as a surgical tech, and I've been using a surgical knot every since. I'm still using items I knitted or crocheted 30 years ago-- the Russian joins remain as do the surgical knots. A square knot might work for items that aren't used or frequently washed, like a doily or wall hanging. I definitely wouldn't use this knot on clothing or blankets.

    I've seen something called a Russian join, which is a bit more hidden and definitely stronger. Looks a little complicated to do, but that's probably because I'm a beginner

    I use this type of knot to join yarn all the time except I cross over the yarn twice first, then a single cross over to finish it. It's a surgeon's knot and it's extremely strong.

    This knot is called a "straight sea knot", it NEVER comes undone! If it is untied, it means that you tied it incorrectly and tied a "woman's knot" instead of a straight sea knot! Practice tying correctly and you will succeed!

    If you leave the strands alone after doing it you can crochet the lose ends in and it will keep it from not coming apart better. By cutting the quick its easily comes apart after washing and pulling the garment. Not good.

    I know that this is an old video, but are you supposed to cut the yarn after each toe when you are joining the toes, or do you not go all the way around? I'm confused..

    • @roccobabycrochet
      @roccobabycrochet หลายเดือนก่อน

      No you do not cut the yarn after each toe you just move on to the next toe and go round in a complete round :))

    Nearly gave up at the beginning as soon as fiddly. Cheated and used a size 5mm for first round 😜 Using a stitch marker really helped. First time I’ve kept my stitch count spot on. Thank you so much for the video. It was brilliant and so clearly explained 🤩🤩

    Hiya! I started crocheting last month and have definitely got addicted! I made one of these cute hats following your guide - I had to adapt it slightly because the yarn that I have is a thicker yarn, so I used a 6mm hook, and followed the guides for increases and decreases as I’d never done those before. I did do something different with the white part of the hat, still unsure if I like my version or not yet though! I need to see how you did your pom pom though, I have a pom pom maker and I’m not sure if that going to be too big?! Thank you for your tutorial 😊 I have subscribed and have noticed some great tutorials I will be watching in the near future! Thank you 😊 xxx
