The Commitments Black Velvet Band Housebroken
one of my all time favorite movies!
One of the best R&B bands to come down the street.............and best movie I've seen. I remember my elder son giving me the DVD for my birthday. I had never heard of the Commitments but the movie blew me away and I will always remain forever grateful to my son for introducing me to these outstanding actors/actresses/musicians.
There's nothing worse than loving a song and turning up to a gig to hear it being destroyed.
Realizing that the gorgeous Maria Doyle is Aunt Jocasta in Outlander.....
Can I add THEE most successful singer/musician only had a small 1 line speaking part in the movie, Andrea Corr. Lead singer of the very successful family band The Coors played Jimmy's cute sister.
God I'm old
Don't use your own accents! It's "ride, Sally, ride," not "roid, Sally, roid!" 😂
Maria doyles rendition of never loved a man 👨 was , oh my goodness ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ahm black, and ahm prode.
So much great talent in this fictional band. Always loved this movie. Andrew Strong in particular is outstanding!
When I saw the movie in the theaters, I took an ol' blues picker friend with me. He was BLOWN AWAY! As we were leaving he exclaimed, "Now THAT is what it's REALLY like to be in a band!"
Is Natalie signing with the Plimtones at 5:00?
70 years old and I can honestly say it one of the BEST movies of music ever. Used to watch it with my kids. Proud to say they knew the music because I raised them on it and rock & roll. I still listen to that music all the time. By the way, I was born and raised in “Motown” (Detroit). So glad I was young during the times all of the greats were making the best “Soul” and “Rock & Roll”!!
Groovy Baby Northern U S A Pray for Peace 10-4
I love that band and every voices in it......
While this is great, and it is, another testament to the director's eye for talent, Andrea Corr had a minor role in the movie.
I always get a kick out of the American version had subtitles! True anyone?
Still live ❤
Loved a man is just as on point
Can’t stand the rain still on point
To say the least!! ❤❤
The question is will Wilson Picket come ?
As an Irish man I am so proud of this group
This is my most favourite song, i listen to it over and over and over again and again and again!❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Maria was sooo amazing Omg!!!😭💗
One of my all time favourites, had the movie soundtrack playing all last weekend whilst painting my laundry room.
Outstanding! 2024
Pretty sure that this was recorded in what was then The Rock Garden (Later Eamonn Dorans) in Temple Bar.
Thank you from Japan. This movie Blu-ray will be released at August 8th, 2024 in Japan at last. I will not wait my memory 33 years ago. Angeline Ball is still deva of soul music, I think.
What a farkn voice!!
what's the second title?
Alan Parker is a great film directer.
Jeff Buckley was briefly their roadie.
I was 8 when this came out. The film was so good to the point in 40 now I never forget them. "Dark end of the street" makes me cry 😢 I miss you so much, dad. I will see you again in the blink of an eye. I'm looking after my mum like I promised you I would. She's an old woman now dad, she's 68 with a beautiful head of grey/white hair, and she is still beautiful. It will be a few years yet till she comes up.. but don't worry, dad, we're all coming eventually ❤❤❤❤
This was the last one of the few movies my dad took me to the cinema for, when I was eleven, a year before he died. So yeah it makes me sad... but more importantly it makes me proud of and grateful for his impeccable taste <3
@J----L absolutely, babe. Our parents had great taste. I notice that the older I get. I look at some of the films and songs I liked when I was 19 and laugh that I even thought they were good. Commitments was an amazing film xx
@J----L so so sorry. People wonder. "Why be sorry he was 11/12) well I'm not like that and I'm so sorry but so glad this brilliant film brings great memories of your dad. May he eternally rest in peace. Oh, and he did have impeccable taste. Are you from the uk like me, too, x
Years ago came across this " nothing" movie on cable. Made me laugh at every scene, fascinated with characters. Watched it three times..bought it shortly after. Now,I watch and hope for another " gem" like this!
It was a huge hit in the UK, so not a nothing movie at all.
You might also like Once! Great movie about music and life!
@@ZenAndPsychedelicHealingCenter calm down..WAS a nothing movie to me..as cable showed many unheralded movies. My comment was a positiveNOT a negative.

HAIRPINS ARE MADE FOR THE HAIR. TRUST THEM TI DO THEIR JOB.
*Andrew Strong is the real deal - loved the movie when it first come out, bought the tapes played them until they were chewed up by the tape player and now I've just found this little gem of a show!!*
I saw him live in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia many years ago. Even better irl!
I didn't want to tell anybody about Bono's constant ball breaking up a bunch incoming prospect college bands but that Irish band An emotional fish cover Grey matter from Danny elfmans band oingo boingo very snappy like ooh baby ooh Bono's was cheating on his wife again because of that song by the Divinyls I touch myself
