you have to listen to his catalog to really get how talented he was from beginning to end MNS genius album is a great start, then watch all his live videos and you will be completely nourished musically and the you will be hooked and then you will understand this moden day Motzart.
This is great entertainment and world class pop guitar playing, but the guitar playing of guitar masters sounds little like Prince. Sort of like the way Mick Jagger doesn't sound anything like Andrea bocelli.
Wow... What gets a 10?!?!?
Paul McCartney was asked who he thought was a great musician in the modern era and he said Prince. He went on to explain that he’s never seen anyone who is incredibly talented playing the guitar, playing the drums, playing the keyboards, singing and dancing as well as Prince. Eric Clapton was asked how it feels to be named one of the greatest guitarists and he said they should go and ask Prince that question.
RIP Prince Rogers Nelson AKA Skipper.
Naah...
Excellent video!
This performance really deserves a 100 out of 10. Dunno what homie thinkin. Prince was art personified.
Such a good taste, sounds incredible Nobody was expecting that for a pop artist One of the greatest
Robert Pridgen, Your review was so spot on. I agree with everything you heard and saw. It is extremely rare that a musically artist both is exceptionally talented as an entertainer and an instrumentalist. Heck, throw in having SWAGG, too. George Harrison's son'$ facial expression si it all... He was so emotionally in awe at the amount of respect and heart-felt passion with which PRINCE NELSON ROGERS reincarnated the spirit of his father, George Harrison. Prince shows the world not only that he is a BAD ASS MoFo and can shred on the ax, but as equally important, the essence from whence the music originates. There's rock and roll, and then there's ROCK and SOUL !
I dont like these kind of video's where its done they never seen it before. In the beginning he does not know who Jef Lynn is and in the and surprise he suddenly does. And where did the guitar go? Bad acting. That he saw already before. But Prince is indeed on of the greatest guitarist.
I honestly don’t like them either but that’s what the people want. You can tell I don’t do these BS videos anymore. It’s lame.
He was a great songwriter, but his guitar playing is nothing overly special… though he was a good improviser in the blues style. The way some people talk you’d swear he’d play circles around Guthrie Govan, Frank Gambale or Danny Gatton. Obviously a very talented individual, but its his ear for production and composition that made him a standout.
When you're so good reviewers think you're faking
I can't watch that performance without getting teary eyed! You could feel that he was in the zone, you could feel that was a once in a lifetime performance! Like Jordan and the flu game.
Took the pickguard off and added a Bigsby Been one of my favorites for years now 🤌🏼
This performance moves, dramatics, virtuosity it common for Prince fans. This was late in his career. He has been falling into the audience like that for most of his career. It’s a Hohner guitar. For 10 years pop America didn’t know he was until purple rain. The guitar was caught by the guy who caught Prince when he fell back in audience. A common feature of a Prince show.
Great stuff !
They had no idea Prince was going to do that..by the way..lol
I believe the guy that was holding Prince from falling holding his back was the one to catch his guitar! And by the way that wasn’t a 9 more like 10!
If this solo is 9, please give me an example of 10!
The guitar was a gift to God that was graciously accepted
He throw the guitar back to George. 😊
Just Awesome 👌
What pedal did you use? Great sound
Brutally honesty does not mean being vulgar...
Someone to hand you a bar of mouth soap...
Cursing like a 14-year-old boy
God, you’re not very smart
A hoddroded one with the hz’s will rip your face off.I have one.its crazy
One more to ad to the list is Chet Atkins!!
Nothing wrong with Prince, but we all know who was his main inspiration, who ignited the genre. The Vodoo Chile... 💕
No. It was Carlos Santana
Prince played with a swagger that we won't see again soon.
😂😂😂 No va beh...Già immagino quanto possa essere esaustivo un video di 8 minuti che analizza di 40 anni di carriera ... 😅
And HE didn't even rehearse that...imagine!
Amazing zamfier pan flute tones up high
Full size sucky upper fret access, your good at casino coupe
Don’t forget about Stevie Ray Vaughan now and lightning Hopkins
That's fkn awesome bro lol so awesome
No one....and I mean NO ONE can match that man for TALENT. HE'S A TEN OUT OF TEN EACH AND EVERY TIME.
Professional guitarist don't play name brand stuff. Those guitars might look like a name brand but definitely are not. There are a handful of builders who do the quality work professionals demand.
I hope trump has every Americans best interest in mind. Or, uncle Grimm picks him up. Either way, I would be happy with.
When you say brutally honest, thank you for doing so.
This reciew it fucking sucks 🤟
I watched this performance over 50 times and I guess have always stopped it before Prince sent his guitar into planetary orbit 😂 caught me off guard
If Roy Clark is a7.., what is a 9?
I love to hear people talk like they mean it, because if you play guitar you have to curse like you watching this. Certain men the guitar is an extension of your manhood and he is slinging some dick at everyone here
The production is tight as fuck.
It’s Tom petty…
Big Prince fan since befire Purple Rain. In fact, Purple Rain was the soundtrack of my high school days. In fact, I partially started playing guitar because of him. However, truth be told this isnt a tremendous or ground breaking solo. Lets be real. Repetitive notes and repetitive bends dont make a great solo. White Cliff of Dover, Van Halen's Eruption solo on Live without a Net, etc, are leaps and bounds ahead of Prince. Heck, Prince"s solo on Purple Rain was way better than this solo. In music , we get caught in group think and dont critique with honesty some music because we dont wanna go against the grain. I found very little musicmanship analysis of this performance. It was more about stage presentation than the music its self.
He was exalted at that moment... Side note, the guy with the glasses and beard was Jeff Lynne!
