Just finished this book, and I found it to be just as enjoyable as Neuromancer. I definitely liked it more than Count Zero, I had a hard time clicking with the second entry in the trilogy for sure. The world-building for the Sprawl gets even more detailed in this entry and I really enjoyed that.

Unpopular opinion: The sequel novels are complete garbage. So much misanthropy and the Creator of the universe needs MACHINES to keep an eye on His creation. Absolute sloppy, self-contradictory trash. I tried to read them all a second time just to be fair but couldn't make it even halfway through "Revealed" before I cast it aside in disgust. Avoid the sequels at all costs lest your childhood dreams be ruthlessly destroyed by a train wreck of a co-author.

I devoured the cycle during winter. And I came away with a full-blown existential crisis. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. That journey took weeks and 1,500+ pages, and I couldn't even finish the last page or two until the day after. It made me think about things I didn't want to think about in the moment. It's a shame these aren't more detailed and in-depth, because you're very good! Yours are some of the only videos on the series I can even find. If you know of any deep dives/analyses of the four, do let me know!

Hmm... Change the face o the "galaxy"? Dunno 'bout THAT. In Double Star, we r not even out o the solar system yet. "Peace summit"? OK, maybe. But what it actually was, was Bonforte (ie, his double) being adopted into a Martian clan. Failure to appear wld b an insult fatal to peaceful coexistence, so, I guess? But not the usual meaning o the term. Still, appreciate attention being paid to one o the Master's less-known novels. Everyone knows Starship Troopers, Stranger in a Strange Land, & Moon Is a Harsh Mistress. Most ppl know @ lst some of the Juvies. But 2nd-string works (that'd b career-topping masterpieces for most authors), like Glory Road, Job, Friday, Revolt in 2100, Sixth Column, Farnham's Freehold, Puppet Masters, all the rest, r too often forgotten. Well done.

Rendezvous with Rama (the first book) was terrific. I wish I had stopped there. The subsequent books became worse and worse, with the ultimate turn off a marriage and sexual relationship between a 70+ year old man and a 13 year old girl. Although the sequels were co-written with Gentry Lee, what the hell was Clarke thinking? He should never have put his name on that trash.

In most of the recent sci-fi centered around alien-human first contact interactions, the worst examples of humanity are always chosen. Apparently we must select the lowest IQ and least skilled people with the lowest impulse control to represent our species. Netflix is one of the worst purveyors of this garbage, although even Ridley Scott has succumbed to hollywood's creative dementia in his recent scripts. Clarke and Asimov are rolling over in their graves in disgust.
