    I am a UE4 novice and wanted to try making a character who can jump and cast spells. Used this tutorial and it worked perfectly!!! If my guy casts the spell while jumping, it actually spawns from the correct position! Thank you so much. Liked and subbed 😂

    Hi. trying to use the function to allow the sword animation to play only once the player has a sword in his hand but it keeps playing the punch animation. Also trying to use the equal + branch for a block animation once the weapon is drawn, but it is not working. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Quick question, I have an anim BP already setup and everything for a baseball bat, how do I configue it so when I pickup that bat I use the animbp for it instead of the anim montage. Basically, if I pickup that bat, I use the animbp for it, and if I pickup an axe I will use a different animbp

      Hi, if you want to use completly different animBP then you just need to change your players animBP when you pick up the weapon. So if you have some kind of an equipment system or something, or a function/event that triggeres when you pick up a weapon. You just need to add the change of animBP there so it updates the animBP when the weapon has been changed. And you would want to do the same thing for when you unequip the weapon, so that it changes your animBP to "unarmed" or something like that if that's what you want.

      Hi, if by that you mean that you can't add it in the blueprint. Then try to search for niagara or cascade. Epic games seems to have renamed them. So if you are using the old particle system it should be Cascade and if you are using the new one it should be Niagara.

    My Zombies after a while will just stand still and wont move, they still play their attack animation and return a damaged value. Do you know why this might be?

      Hi, this could be because of couple things. If you are using the exact code from the video then you basically just need to go to the zombie blueprint. Then under the event On Component End Overlap (MeleeRange) after changing the boolean to false, you want to plug it into the node that comes after the event Begin Play. In practice you are making it that if the player moves out of the melee range, the zombie will follow after them.

      @@that_skye Okay I did that and it worked, thank you very much I did some modifications so it would work a little more specific to my project. I am new to Unreal so this really helped with understanding how to make my own AI enemy and even has helped me make melee combat systems for the player and understand animations. This was a great tutorial and keep it up👍

    Hi! I really liked the tutorial, however i have some questions. If i want the powerup to be able to be pickedup, but usable later and not instantly, how would one go about this?

      Hi, so a really easy and simple way to go about it, would be to just make boolean variables for the power ups. Set them to false by default and then set them to true when you pick up the power up. Then you can create functions for them and hook them up to keybinds for example. And before you run the function just check if the boolean for that power up is true. And then set it back to false after activation.

      Hi, distorted in what way ? Also make sure to retarget the animation to ue5 mannequin if you are using the animation I am using in the video.

      Hi, if I understand it correctly then you are not using third person template, correct ? If thats the case then you should be able to use any character for this, since its tied to animations. I would try using Print String node to see where the issue lies. Chances are that if the spell projectile is not spawning, it is simply colliding with the player actor as soon as it spawns. So if that sounds like it could be happening in your project I would start there.

      I believe so, basically just need to add a check when pressing jump to see if you are sliding. And if you are then cancel the slide.

      @@that_skye after making this in a fresh third person template, it works fine on the first slide but any slide after it causes the player to slide on top of the capsule how would i fix this edit: seems like after the first slide the capsule component doesnt update from the half height, if it helps im on 5.4

    can you make another video showing how to stop the regeneration if the health reaches zero? also maybe make the enemy "die" in some way? this was very helpful but i want to learn to expand on this

      Hi, so if you want to stop regenerating HP after reaching zero that would most likely mean the character is dead. Which means you can just include this in the death event, simply get the variable with regen timer and drag from it, then look for Pause Timer. We did the same thing in the Restore Health function if the character is already max health. As for making the character "die" I could suggest adding simple ragdoll for starters.
