Cambodian wedding music make me want to cry..because its so beautiful..i am getting married next year to my Fiance (he white) of 4 years..We are having Cambodian and American ceremony all in one day. Its going to be the best experience of our lives. We cant wait!
I'm not Khmer, but a lot of my dear friends are so the Khmer language, music, and dances are no strangers to me. I love the Khmer culture, I think it's beautiful! If anyone knows the name of the song featured in this video... please tell me! =)
i love the music although i can't understand it,, and the dancers are so graceful.... i'm from the philippines and i actually amazed at your traditional dance..
Well that is different but still not unique. Not been a Thai myself I don´t know how much they tell about that particular part of their history but I think it is understandable if young people in Thailand don´t know about it, for example in my country Finland people generally want to teach their kids only the more "honorable" parts of Finnish history, like all about Winter War and nothing about Civil War.
Well, I understand that some countries are inspired by each other. However, the Thai and Khmer situation is a bit different. If you're Thai I believe you've heard the history that Thai captured Khmer people from Cambodia to make them their slaves. To work for them and to teach them knowledge. And these Khmer people were from the royalty with high standard and education. They dance Apsara for their gods, pray to their guru before Bokator fight and other great things. etc. :)
Not really, are you saying that Thais stole Khmers who were dancers? And every culture everywhere has been influenced by another one way or the other, so I don´t really see the big deal.
Not inspired but steal. what Cambodian meant when they say the word "steal". let me give you an EXTREME example. Let's say, a poor country like Mexico, compare to the US, which is a well developed. One day Mexico decided to make a war with the US, and steal all the smart people such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs etc. to their country and generations later people would think the product belong to Mexico when they don't know the truth. So if i had to put it that way, i hope it now make sense.
Ummm, nobody copied nobody here. Just because some dances look similar doesn't mean it is copied. And by the way this dance here is beautiful. I love all traditional southeast asian dances!!!!
I´m not a Khmer myself but I have difficulty to believe that the nation that build Angkor Wat would have to steal things. Takeing influence maybe but that´s not the same as stealing, all cultures do that, that´s one way they evolve.
Porter Lee your own Thai his-story? We have robam before you Thai/Lao even came to present day Thailand. It carve all over our Khmer temple before Thailand existed. Tell me what temple of your have this dance or any inscription there are none only your make up history. You Thai/ Lao are from Nanzhou Kingdom in China. Most of you migrated south during the Mongolian invasion. Your first king of present day Thailand are a royal servant of Khmer court from Angkor. Go to Bangkok read the word that your king inscription on the stone. It was written in Khmer that mean you Thai don't even have a written language till later on
@Towaa30 hey, you should read all my comments again and you will se that i do everything except from making khmer ppl look bad. though there are some stupid khmer ppl here, that's the truth... and there are stupid thai ppl also. let us just live at peace and admire our art! peace to you
@KhmerSpirit if that's the case i feel sorry for those people also. but it's better for us not to focus on the stupid people in here or the stupidity in here, we should not participate in it! i feel no hatred against your people, i admire you... and i know many other thai's that do...
@KhmerSpirit ehm, excuse me... but how can you possibly judge all thai people from what some jerks comment here on youtube? i'm sorry if some thai jerk wrote something unintelligent, but hey... i've seen some of yours writing some real stupid things also. you should check what your own comment about thai people. im half thai (isaan) and swedish, i love watching your dances and i wish i can visit your country someday soon. peace!
@khmertatas @KhmerSpirit @TheKhmersavior You are absolutely right tatas. You got us. We are Thai pretending to be Khmer. You guys are super duper smart. @TheKhmersavior- let's leave these children alone. You're gonna make KhmerSpirit cry. He's only defending our people the only way he knows how-the uneducated way! Ummm, Tatas? You might want to check your screen name. KhmerSpirit might want a piece of that after all these Spirit shattering comments.

MsDjessa it Cambodian not Thai
Oh, and Cambodian don't see it as a big deal or anything. They just want the world to know the genuine history behind this beautiful art.
