Not a musician. Not really a TH-camr 😬. Exploring synthesis, sounds, beats and hardware. Finding inspiration in TH-cam. Uploading sessions and jams as I learn. Got into synths again after 30 years away. Threw away a Juno-6 in the early 90s and now feel terrible about it.
I love a good drone 😵💫

Creepcluster dark drone with Hikari Monos and NTS-1. Noisemusic
Dark drone with bleeps boops and glitch from the Hikari Monos. The Monos is through delay and Space reverb from the NTS-1. Always great fun making noise.

Needed some beats after the more experimental stuff 😂 lots of 90s FM sounds here, very ‘Orbital’. The RD8 pattern is a rip off of Aphex Twin then I’ve added some electro type pulses and metallic tones on the Cycles too. The SE02 just brings the most beautiful, dirty, warm bass. The lead ‘chime’ type pattern on the Cycles takes me right back 👌🏼😵💫😊
Hikari Monos. Experiment with Bleeps, boops and loops with beats. With Behringer RD8

Layering the Monos. 5 tracks of bleeps and boops with a track for the beats. Hope someone else enjoys this as much as I did making it. There’s very few videos demonstrating the wide range of sounds that the Monos can create so I hope this shows a more chilled side (instead of the usual extreme noise terror 😂).

What a blast. The Hikari Monos through reverb and delay sounds so good. Monos at 1:04. Found another modulation path on the Driftbox; it’s the gift that keeps on giving 😁 I love putting these different little boxes together and seeing what happens.
Hikari Monos. Pt2. A crazy living synth. Sample patches and loops.
มุมมอง 467วันที่ผ่านมา
Some sample patches; reverb and delay added. This synth feels like it’s alive. It does outrageous distortion and screams or it does delicate crystal clear droplets or drones. It generates its own ‘sequences’ or ‘loops’ from the modulation of the filter and distortion. These can be really surprising in their complexity and length. This video shows some sample ‘loops’. A real joy to tweak.
Hikari Monos. Pt1. Amazing ‘water droplet’ drone synth. 7 minutes of exploration.

New synth day. This thing is incredible. Been looking at them for months. First hours playing around with it and it’s certainly a wild ride! It literally makes me jump. Reverb and delay added at 5:34. You adjust the sliders and it sits there quietly then suddenly starts spewing out random bleeps and sequences. You can certainly control it but it’s fun to let it do its thing. Feels like it’s ali...

A lovely coming together of deep analogue Roland SE02 noise and the Cycles FM chords. Getting my head around Chords on the Cycles. The FM sounds worked really well with the SE02 here (to my ears anyway).

I am working on some beats but can’t stop droning and going a bit experimental. NTS-1 Arp comes in at 01:40. The Arp is using the ‘J6 Chord’ Oscillator. The RoAT is through the NTS-1 delay/reverb. The Driftbox is clean with no effects.. Still loving the Driftbox, just listen to that modulation!

I am having an absolute blast with these. Crunchy. Distorted. Dirty. With a cheerful pop melody mashed inside. The RoAT is making cathedral organ type chords or is it guitar? Not sure. The SE02 is getting all disco and the Creepcluster is tuning in and out nicely. Just knocked together without any plan. And when I power it all off, only the SE02 will remember anything 😵💫😄 Which is sort of libe...
Creepcluster, Roland SE02, SOMA Rumble of Ancient Times, Behringer RD8. Synth Drone beats experiment

Drone techno is definitely a thing 😂 The Creepcluster output level is so loud everything else is cranked up on the mixer just to hear them. The RD8 is distorted and sounds ace. I’m experimenting to see if I can get drones to work with beats and bass lines. This is very rough but I thought I would post it because it was so much fun and quick to put together (about an hour). Drone on folks 👍🏼😵💫

Reverse Landfill Creepcluster drone synth and Korg NTS1. Drone with delay.

This thing is so fun to tweak. With the volume cranked up it’s a bit intense 😵💫😄 It’s awesome. The delay gives the tweaks some different dynamics, but too much delay and reverb destroys the phasing of the oscillators so there’s minimal effects used here.

New arrival. Made this first track just messing about and learning the workflow; it’s only 16 steps because I hadn’t found out how to change the length (I have now) 😂 Worked out I can have any machine on each step with its own parameters which is really powerful. I love the FM sounds. This takes me back. There’s definitely hints of Prodigy and Orbital’s Steel Cube Idolatry which really isn’t a ...

Back to the beats. Just messing about today and this jam took shape. S1 comes in at 1:30. Not really planned so it’s a bit rough. The SE02 makes the most stunning analogue tones that never sound harsh. Just silky smooth loveliness. The S1 is great for providing those crystal clear tones that cut through anything. Recently, the Microfreak has been doing a great job of creating quick pads and seq...

If you get too close to a black hole, there is no escape... Love the variety of low-end textures you create here. Then the contrasting high blips, chirps and tones are 🤌 Otherworldly, mournful and unsettling all at once!

Great jam Lo-Fi-Si!! I'm a sucker for FM sounds, awesome retro piece! 🙌🐀
@@LabRatWarfare thank you kind sir. Saw Orbital last year and still love that sound 👍🏼

Awesome synth! I never seen this one before.
can't you basically do this with any subtractive synth? Just sounds like using an LFO on pitch and a few other things...
Yeah but it's such a cute little guy :))
@@lucid484 I’m really not doing much. The Monos creates timbres and loops with minimal input because of the way the modulation is routed. It’s unpredictable and random which is why it’s fun to tweak. It feels like you have very little control over it. A lot of demos concentrate on it making feedback and noise, so it was nice to find some more mellow sweetspots. Thanks for commenting 👍🏼
A very cool souning device for sure!

Your drone game is getting spectacular. That Hikari mono is bonkers. Love it 😊
Ah mate thank you. Literally an hour to set up the tones and learn a routine then hit record. Love just chucking stuff together. I really wasn’t sure about the Monos as it’s so crazy but I’m so glad I got it. Appreciate the comment👍🏼
Hi do you know if it is based on the concept of Rob Hoydriks blippo box? Thanks for the demo .
@@PeterAPfaff I don’t know enough about the Blippo sorry. Although it does sound similar in some instances. ADSR collective did an interview with the founder of Hikari which might help you www.adsrcollective.com/hikari-instruments?rq=Hikari

@@stephenaskew4346 exactly. It can be quite exhilarating!
Yeah man, this is the layer cake I love. As the beat and bass do their thing, you find those spots where the oscillations just hit right and it is perfect. Then, you knob a bit more to find it again. I love these explorations.
@@dubsboxalgo exactly. When the oscillators go out of tune and it gets a bit messy and it looks like it’s all gone wrong, then they come together again making everything sweet. Great fun!
Just considering to grab a Cycles today and you're not helping!😂😅 What a great device isn't it??
@@hellf.o lol. I love the fact it’s more of a synth than a groovebox. I see it as having multiple synths that can be sequenced together instead of using samples if that makes sense. I needed some FM in my set up and it will fit perfectly.
What a great experiment LFS! Drone tekno is a thing for sure! Creepcluster and RoAT seem made for each other!
@@hellf.o cheers! It was very unplanned and made up on the spot. Can’t stop droning 😂😵💫
nice
Thanks!
You might think it has a metallic sound and a weird high hat or symbol, but it definitely has a vast sound palette once you coax her a little bit I sold one and missed it so much I bought it back and never will sell it again there is some compression magic that happens with the outboard sound that always seems to come out nice and it’s one of my favorite knob for function devices. One tip I have is it really opened up for me when I used a midi keyboard with it I was able to get different timbers, out of the drums and stuff. Nice jam 🫡 cheers 🍻
@@SonicVibe cheers for that! I saw a few reviews saying the sound is limited but then you see other jams that are incredible. I only messed with it for 2 hours and managed to work out the basics so the interface seems excellent. It sounds like my 90s CD collection 😄

It sounds huge. There’s another setting that removes a lot of the distortion and gives nice ‘typical’ drone too. I like a challenge so I’m going to see if I can get it to ‘ambient’ lol
@Lo-Fi-Si I've been reading up on it. Two triangle osc switched by a square osc. Clever. Currently building it in vcv rack.
