He never had issue with throwing since he started pitching at age 10. Even though he pitched 6 innings 100 pitches in few games this year, no pain or soreness at all.

    • @colinrosen5866
      @colinrosen5866 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kitdatkat Hi, college player here. Its a common misconception that curveballs hurt your arm. Throwing a curveball *incorrectly* hurts your arm. The only pitch that inherently can cause tommy john is sliders because of the stress on the elbow. The main cause of tommy john for young players is not doing strength training, which causes the arm to tear because it's not strong enough to hold together after the throw. I do agree that he needs a pitching coach though, but that's only because every good pitcher should see one at least once.

    Why is the dad teaching him how to throw curveballs at this age, it will lead him to Tommy John when he's in his 20's. All you gotta do is learn how to throw a 4 seam fastball, 2 seam fastball and a changeup. When he is around 15 then you can teach him how to throw different pitches

    • @ianhertzog4905
      @ianhertzog4905 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      no. it will not lead him to tommy john. sliders, where you have to get around the side of the ball and create elbow tension is where problems arise. a proper curveball (which hes throwing in the video) is where your fingers lead in front of the ball and pull downward so the ball has downward spin as opposed to upwards spin. when you attempt to make the ball have sideward spin and have violent wrist rotation, like snapping off a slider, that is what causes increased elbow tension, flexing the ucl much more than a fastball.

    • @Boomer-rj7uv
      @Boomer-rj7uv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianhertzog4905the fact that you have to twist your arm to the right before releasing the ball if you're a RHP, if you are a LHP then you would have to twist your arm to the left before releasing it. Could be a great improvement if he learns to pitch harder by doing that (will also take stress away from the arm, so that he will last longer). Also don’t let the leg lift ruin the motion by being stuck high for too. Good movement and good potential’

    Well how well does he locate a fastball? This video provides free scouting, it also tells me he has trouble locating a Fastball. I’m 100% positive he misses 1 of 2 places: = Arm side: will be up & in the LH batters box. = Glove side: will locate Down & into the RH batters box. Same issue Kyle Wright (MiLB) pitcher deals with. It’s habit that should be broken now. It helps keep Sliders, curveballs down but. But at this age you must learn to locate a FB first! If he played against my kids, I would tell them to expect a curveball away to hang. If it comes inside, it will fall out of the strike-zone in! So sit back and catch the hanger!
