HOW TO BUILD A STEEL TRAY FOR UNDER $500 | D22 Navara Steel Tray Build
Today we're talking about the steel tray that i've been working on last couple weeks. Best solutuon is to get one off facebook and get a good deal. Thats what i did and just sanded it down and sent it with hammer paint from bunnings. I spent around $500 on the whole build. Stay tuned for the canopy build soon!

@@Plixcee nah the d40 got written off 2 years ago bro. stx550 are the only decent variant of d40s. make sure to get one with the high output and electric turbo less issues engine wise
Also replace the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor connected to the battery side of the intercooler.

I have tried a Tillix valve (IMOP it's a leaking piece Garbage), a Dawes valve (Way better than a Tillix valve) and a home made boost controller (which was the BEST out of them all) but my Diesel goes heaps better without any of them installed. But I do use a needle valve Teed into the turbo waste-gate vacuum line to make the turbo spool up a little quicker/earlier. Using the factory electric boost controller my EGT's are lower & it is more responsive especially when city driving, but it is better on the open highway with just the factory boost controller too. Manual boost controllers on a standard ute are only good for stopping over boost and should be used in conjunction with the factory boost controller. If you run one on its own then once you set it, it will be stuck in that one position so they always work best under acceleration & they are not very good for normal driving. Whereas the factory Variable (electric) boost controllers change for all conditions & cover all driving situations. But using a needle valve adjusted correctly will help remove Turbo Lag that is for sure. MR. Tillix doesn't tell you that all you really need is a needle valve to make you common rail Diesel drive like it should.
Yes although the main idea is for people that want a specific boost set limit when running other upgrades like a stage 2 turbo or something similar. also the factory boost solenoid is known to fail miserably on the yd25s.

Could be a leaking egr cooler
needs further testing bro, but mainly white smoke means running rich fuel mixture
Found out what the problem was, intercooler had a split in it, so replaced it problem solved.

Mate mine is leaking power and it's in limp mode replaced the suction valve, turbo, air/fuel filters those not have EGR to block off ,injectors fine with what to do next?
End up finding problem? Have same problem
have u tried a hard reset, go back to basics. check fuel leaks in lines, i had a bunch of air in mine.

Hey mate I was heading up a hill and heard a big pop sound now lacking power in the peddle it feels like a very loose exeleration and it blows black smoke like heaps.. I've checked the hoses and everything can't find anything cleaned the maf is there any other hidden hoses that may be?

I’ve had the same thing and it was the turbo to intercooler pipe had popped off, but looked like it was still on. Replaced that hose and fixed problem.
im certain this sounds like an intercooler pipe, please check all pipes

One of the reasons they smoke is that navara injectors have a high flow rate and often you will get smoke for that reason alone , i have a d40 2014 I've done all the upgrades same as yourself and put a higher quality intercooler that has a 30% bigger core which made a huge difference. That's another reason to intercoolers block over time with the egr system and will suffocate air flow in turn cause of black smoke . Installing a good catch can and cleaning intercooler will help to , good video mate need more like them

I have two D40s,they have problems now and then but when they're healthy it takes years before they break.I can't complain because they self maintain.

dude this is the story of my life i have a nissan nav D40 aventura model 2008 blanked the egr and delete i have the part for scv replacement by denso just waiting to fit it i gotta retrace all my pipes air and fuel combined because i had cracked head which needed to be fixed that was a killer now thats done i gotta make room to access the SCV. the girl is killing me inside and pocket
G,day,,, don't forget the lower timing chain,, Nissan went cheap in the design by using the same one in the X-Trail, meaning it's under engineered. Good news you can upgrade to a Duplex upgrade.

Hey mate, just wanted to know if the spool rate needle still works with this setup? the one on the left. Ive got it setup the way the instructions say to from tillix but want to change it up a bit as it feels very laggy. Cheers
Yes im using the needle (spool rate) and its set quite far out, further in will take longer for turbo to spool. Have a play around if u have a gauge its easier to see the boost spool rate as you drive.

Hi! I have a nissan navara d401 from 2012 and i have had problems with it for a while without finding the issue. When i push the gas paddle fast to the ground i get no effekt at all. The only thing that happens is the rmp meter going up. Also when going uphill i struggle to accelerate. The the engine lamp is showing back and forth. The car doesnt sound strange at all. I have changed the fuel filter and cleaned the air filter. Any thought what the problem might be? Thanks
I would start with an ECU Pedal dance reset, or disconnect battery overnight yo reset computers. Have u had it scanned for any codes?

Hey buddy my 07 pathfinder stalling when cold. I've purchased suction control valve to replace. Checked other issues in your vid all ok. Do U think the scv replacment will fix the stalling when cold ?
This is a sign of timing chain being worn, stalling when cold. Stalling when hot or else temps is scv hope this helped sorry hid

I have an 07 navara kingcab dci 171 with the 6 speed manual transmission gearbox and I’ve been having power issues esp on climbs, a lot of black smoke emission too. I had a look at my injectors and turns out two were in bad shape, with one in dire condition so I replaced all four, but still power issues and black smoke… so now I’m wondering if the injectors could have caused turbo failure and in which case what would you recommend to do so as to mantain turbo on this vehicles, since I’ve replaced mine thrice in only a couple of years
Turbos not usually a common issue on d40 engines mate, black smoke usually EGR VALVE, BCS SCV or MAF look into those first
Great video man, awesome rundown. I had a 2007 Spanish d40 that got drowned in a flood earlier this year. Just bought a 2010 st-x as a replacement. A lot more kms on this one and I can see I have a bit of work ahead of me. Great info thanis bro, please do share anymore info you have. Clear and concise. Six thumbs up!
No worries mate, anything particular youd like to see, the 550s i hear are alot more reliable
Nothing in particular.... Yet! The 2010 I got has a lot of kms on it and ready for a good engine overhaul. Will give it a full change of fluids and filters and block egr/clean intake as sopn as I get a chance, so I can have a good look at what needs doing.

@@hume4x4 I've got the stx 550, and I've noticed when it's cold especially, you can put your foot flat and it won't really do anything, I've heard it's usually the egr that plays up in these, better to clean, replace or delete? Been told about 2k to replace the egr but.
