Where are the long PVC Tubes that do inside the driven element?

That sure did not sound good

I am new to Stepp IR. I bought a BIG Stepp IR Mark IV vertical and I am seeing a lot of grief from owners having bad issues with all of this mechanical stuff. I get it that a YAGI benefits from all of these adjustable parameters BUT I read on one forum that these things are night mares to keep operating. I hope my simple Vertical antenna application is free of defects. What are most of the failure points from this design? Bad design? cheap stepper motors? too much plastic? I realize metal is a no-no because of the presence of RF.

Hi I have an ultrabeam driven element 6-40 meter EHU I would like to rebuild Do you know where to source parts like the stepper motor and contact plate ? Thanks Ross M0UGE

Hi Don , thanks for doing this video , today is friday 7/24/20 and my DB18 will be here on monday 7/27/20 lol.. actually...it's already here in my town at the fedEX lot. this new antenna will replace my steppIR 4ele up on the tower that went bad years ago. 73

Yes, Rory, the screens at the ends of the fiberglass poles were gone and either very tiny birds or insects brought in debris which eventually blocked the tapes from going all the way out. This caused one of the tapes in the driven EHU to jump the sproket and caused the antenna to fail.
