Do We Need a Priesthood
October 31, 1517--Martin Luther began a movement that ushered in the Protestant Reformation. Part of what he taught involved the Roman Catholic priesthood, which he saw as unnecessary. Was he right?

In Luther's time there were the (1) Catholic Church, (2) the Eastern Orthodox Church, (3) the Oriental Orthodox Church and (4) the Assyrian Orthodox Church of the East (or Church of the East for short). Catholics do believe in (High) priesthood of Christ and in the universal priesthood of all believers (1 Pe. 2:5). Why we have another priesthood known as ministerial priesthood? In OT when God established Levitical priesthood, He declared it to be everlasting or perpetual priesthood (Exodus 40:15). Numbers 18:19 applies “covenant of salt” to this priesthood, which means it will last forever as salt is used to preserve food. “Covenant of salt” appears twice in the Old Testament and the second one (2 Chr. 13:15) is applied to kingship of David and his descendants through Solomon, which is based on God’s promise to David (2 Sam. 7:12-13) - God will establish his throne through Solomon forever. The perpetuity of both Davidic kingship and Levitical priesthood were later reaffirmed by prophet Jeremiah in dual prophecies of Jer. 33:17-18. Catholic's ministerial priesthood is the fulfilment of prophecy in Jer. 33:18 and affirmed the perpetuity of levitical priesthood as declared by God in Exo. 40:16. Levitical priests of Judaism cannot fulfill this prophecy - without their Jerusalem Temple they can no longer offer any sacrifice, while according to Jer. 33:18 sacrifice is to be offered continuously. Heb. 13:10 says: “We have an altar (θυσιαστήριον, Strong G2379) from which those who serve the tent (σκηνή, Strong G4633) have no right to eat”. The word “we” is first person plural that includes even the person who wrote Hebrews - in other words it refers to believers. “Those who serve the tent” refers to Levitical priests of Judaism who served in the Jerusalem Temple or Tent of Meeting during Exodus. In the Old Testament priests have the right to eat some of offering or sacrifice (Lev. 6:26; 7:6; 24:9, Num. 18:10-11). “Having no right to eat” in Heb. 13:10 refers to having no right to eat sacrifice from the altar of believers of Christ. But Reformation replaced altar with pulpit, replaced priest with pastor and replace sacrifice with sermon.

There are two teachings in the Bible which contradict each other. The Bible says that God is not a god of confusion. The Bible can be very confusing. Why is it not more clear ?

    • @FredvonKamecke

We often confuse ourselves when we don't understand. No mystery there. Our finite minds cannot grasp an infinite God. Further prayerful study clears up many issues, but we’ll never understand fully in this life.

Read what the Apostle Paul said below. A person must "hear" the Gospel and "believe" the Gospel, and then be "sealed" with the Holy Spirit. Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, === New Covenant Whole Gospel: How many modern Christians cannot honestly answer the questions below? Who is the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Who is the “son” that is the “heir” to the land in Matthew 21:37-43? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary? What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. God is not now a “racist”. He has extended His love to all races of people through the New Covenant fulfilled by His Son’s blood at Calvary. The Apostle Paul warned against using “genealogies” in our faith in 1 Tim. 1:4, and Titus 3:9. If the New Covenant is "everlasting" in Hebrews 13:20 and the Old Covenant is "obsolete" in Hebrews 8:13, why would any Christian believe God is going back to the Old Covenant system during a future time period? What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below. Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. He doesn’t always keep us from trials but he lets us go through them because he knows they build character and strength and teaches us lessons. It may feel like he’s abandoning you but we must ALWAYS remember, every moment, that God does NOT do abandonment

Faced with problem of human suffering, the so called buddha chose to deny the reality and went to hide in his 'mind' which also was not real. He therefore chose to die to reality, rather than face it or help with it. This is the ultimate cowards path, deny and hide. Contrast with Truth, Jesus who gave all of Himself to save all. This is the contrast between Love and Fear. Fear hides and denies, Love faces all and gives all. Glory to God. Jesus is the only Way.

In the end, yes. But for many, that will be too late. Isa 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Ro 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Re 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Ac 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

How much, and what kind, of research have you actually done on this subject? The original language on this topic is very different than what is commonly taught in fundamental circles, which you are obviously taking your information from. "Hell" as is taught today, was NOT part of the original message of either Jesus OR Paul, if you had done the proper scholarly work you would know this. Your interpretations represent a very narrow view of scripture historically, limited mostly to the Southern USA. I have a message for YOU. GOD IS GREATER THAN YOUR THEOLOGY. We human beings all come from God before we are born, and all return to Him after our experience here on earth. This I received by revelation, and was later confirmed after much study, particularly of the teachings of the early church father Origen. Here is the really good news- it doesn't matter if you believe me, you will find this out for yourself after your experience here on earth is complete. I was also raised with the kind of thinking you are sharing, and God himself showed me the truth, it was quite liberating to say the least. Your heavenly father does not condemn, but he does desire that we know him and his ways in order that we might live productive and virtuous lives. God bless.

The only problem is there was never a need for Christianity. Paul simply created a solution for a non-existant problem of inherited sin which doesn't exist. Nowhere does it say that Adam and Eve sinned. Yes, they disobeyed, but it was not a sin and that is what Christians don't understand. They think that anything a person does wrong is automatically a sin when it is not. A sin is something a person does that goes against the laws of God. Disobeying is something that God corrects, but it is not a sin. Sins require the death penalty, so that would be like someone driving 5 MPH over the speed limit receiving the death penalty for it. They are corrected, with a speeding ticket, but they do not deserve to die because of it. Disobedience outside of the laws of the Torah are the same way. God corrects disobedience, but not with death. Nowhere in the scriptures did it ever say that gentiles needed a way to be saved to have eternal life. On the contrary, God already provided a way for ANY RIGHTEOUS PERSON of any nation to have eternal life, as long as they follow his commandments and do not accept the idolatry of worshiping a demigod instead of him.

@@FredvonKamecke God established a covenant with Noah after the flood which consisted of 7 laws that every nation should follow to be righteous, often referred to as the Noahide Code. They are shown in the book of Genesis. Noahides, or Bnei Noach as it is referred to in Judaism is the oldest religion which was established by God before he created Israel and gave them the Ten Comandments as the first of their 613 laws. If you read the scriptures, no where does it ever describe what Adam and Eve doing as a sin. The difference between disobedience and sin is laid out in the laws that were given to Moses for the Israelites. Going against the law is a sin, but it never says that disobedience in other areas is a sin. Certain things were punishable by death (which are sins), other things were not. This is where the Christians get the idea that "the wages of sin is death" from. Sins received the death penalty, but other things did not. Our justice system today is based on the exact same concept. Murder receives the death penalty, but speeding does not. The 7 laws that God gave to Noah after the flood are Not to worship idols, Not to curse God, Not to commit murder, Not to commit adultery or sexual immorality, Not to steal, Not to eat flesh torn from a living animal (This includes eating meat with blood still in it), and to establish courts of justice. This is what God expects from the gentiles (those who are not the children of Israel) to remain righteous and have a part in the afterlife. Job was a Noahide, as you will notice in the scriptures there is no mention anywhere of him keeping the sabbath or performing any of the required rituals of the Israelites, yet he was a righteous man because he kept these 7 laws of God.

@@dustinryan9671 In the law it specifies exactly who is and isn't allowed in each area of the Tent of Meeting and who is allowed to touch the ark as well as the other furnishings. It if strictly forbidden in the law for anyone else to do so. That was a transgression against the law, which is a sin.

Thanks for being accutate. Very true, love and wrath, heaven and hell. If you meditate on this, you could come down with Bipolar disease- Ecstatic high from God's love and deep depression for the truth of eternal hell and only a remnant will be elected to be saved. When you love your neighbor as yourself and see most condemned to hell, especially family members, it can be unbearable. So, jump back to the greatest commandment to focus on your own salvation to survive. Better stop now.
