Incident-Based Preemption for Law Enforcement from Opticom
มุมมอง 4372 ปีที่แล้ว
Despite the immense popularity of emergency vehicle preemption with fire departments, law enforcement agencies have not adopted Opticom™ EVP to the same extent. So, GTT has developed incident-based preemption to address those concerns. This new Opticom priority control feature allows preemption to be activated based on pre-determined incident types and/or priority levels by integrating Opticom ...
The Benefits of Transit Signal Priority for Zero-Emission Buses
มุมมอง 2.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Transit systems have begun transitioning from fuel-based diesel buses to hydrogen-fuel, electric, hybrid and other zero-emission buses. And within the next decade or so, zero-emission buses will be cheaper, cleaner, quieter and more efficient than diesel buses. Transit Signal Priority - or TSP - can help enable faster average travel times, less variability in acceleration and deceleration, and ...
How Opticom Priority Control Provided New Benefits to One Snowy MN City
มุมมอง 1773 ปีที่แล้ว
Opticom™ priority control has been used by cities for emergency vehicle preemption since 1968, and for transit signal priority for more than twenty years. But a five-year study recently conducted by one snowy Minnesota city has proved the value of priority control can be broadened to include smart mobility solutions for other types of municipal vehicles as well. Migrating from Infrared to More Advanced, Precise Technologies for Preemption
มุมมอง 1403 ปีที่แล้ว
Fire and police departments in neighboring cities often share resources and help each other through mutual aid. These agencies rely on compatibility with each other’s traffic infrastructure, which can complicate upgrading to newer technologies. Fortunately, customers still relying on aging preemption technology like infrared can often leverage their existing infrastructure to upgrade to radio-b...
Harris County Upgrades to Centralized Preemption from Opticom
มุมมอง 29K3 ปีที่แล้ว
With more than four million residents, Harris County is the most populous county in the state of Texas. The county had first deployed a traffic signal preemption system in 2007. But in August 2017, Hurricane Harvey ravaged parts of Texas and Louisiana, flooding or damaging a quarter of its 280 intersections. In the wake of this devastating storm, a consortium of seven Emergency Service District...
Two Types of Opticom TSP that Limit Disruptions to Traffic Flow

Modern transit agencies need to have flexibility with their routing and vehicle technologies. Now, conditional priority and relative priority are available with Opticom™ Transit Signal Priority (TSP) to help ensure transit agencies can reap the benefits of this essential technology, while limiting disruptions to normal traffic flow.
The Basics of Opticom Transit Signal Priority
มุมมอง 1.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Millions of people depend on public transit every day to get them where they need to go in a safe and timely fashion. And cities that want to give their riders a predictable, consistent transit experience are doing so with the help of Opticom™ Transit Signal Priority (aka, TSP) and advanced schedule management.
What is Priority Control?
มุมมอง 18K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Priority control systems empower cities to manage how vehicles navigate their streets, so operations are safer, faster and more efficient. There are two main types of priority control: Emergency Vehicle Preemption or EVP and Transit Signal Priority or TSP. These systems request green lights to give priority to a variety of vehicles as needed - from fire trucks, police cars and ambulances to bus...

All I need is a device that can read infrared signals and then stand down at the fire house at the nearest light and wait for them to have a call and scan their signal then take that home and put it in the computer and then install it on some chips and then make a device that can amid that same signal mounted in my car and now I don’t have to sit at red lights

Scanning the flash sequence of a passing fire truck or ecnalubma won't get you anywhere, except on older systems. On newer systems, the flashing sequence of the infrared light is encrypted in real time, kind'a like those fobs with the changing numbers which companies give to people who work from home. You'll need to know the algorithm to build your own transmitter.

@Fredashay Klavierstein We'll if OP is going to commit a crime anyway, they might as well just steal a fire engine and pull the hardware out. That, or just buy some blue lights and sirens to get people to stop for them.

whats the purpose of the GPS? Don't understand why you would at all, include a GPS, if you just could have the radio send radio waves with directional antenna, and have preemption be activated for all traffic lights that the radio waves reach - the radio only needs to contain some rolling code (to prevent unauthorized vehicles from requesting preemption) - and nothing more. Speed and position is unneccessary? It seems like trying to shoot a mosquito with a cannon. I could understand the GPS if the traffic light preemtion system were somehow remotely activated (via an internet connection) where a fleet controller system then sees the emergency vehicle approaching the traffic light, and then sends a phase change request via internet (via the normal traffic light administration system that those in the traffic centres has). Then you would not need any radio transmitter inside the emergency vehicle, just a GPS that sends its position to the fleet managment system, which in turn relays information to any traffic lights via the internet. But then you would need no equipment at all at the traffic light. No antennas or radio receivers or whatever.
