Hooker Band / Reunion '83 - Teenage Kicks + Star Star (F****r) + Jean Genie. (5th Inst.)
The lost Hooker band reunion video gig tape has finely surfaced.
This year marks its 41st anniversary one year after the band disbanded in 1982.
It was a Wednesday night; Hooker played their first reunion gig at the Nookenburra hotel also known as The Overflow on the 13th of April 1983. On this night the crowd were lining up outside just waiting for the doors to open, once the punters entered the venue the band started to play from 8:45pm till midnight, the dance floor was packed throughout the whole night’s performance. Now revisited and restored, looking and sounding better than previously seen circulating on the net with unseen performances of their cover songs as well as their originals with improved picture and desk audio recording. Hooker played three full sets with a total of 38 songs and had a full house audience of approximately 1400 for one night only. For those who were there and can still remember... looking back it was a historical event and those who weren’t there, now you can witness a true great band of the 80’s.

Hi darling I love your style darling you look so beautiful love Ron 💋💋💋💋
16:24 remember a band called Deep Water Point ? I was a sill fool in the 70s . Went to South Fremantle Senior High , Dom Mariani was a classmate. I remember seeing Fatty Lumpkin playing a school social. I was reading Lord of the Rings so i got the connection . There were other bands , The Quick and The Dead. I saw them play on Marine Terrace in Fremantle in 1980. It was a bit of a punk festival. A few rough nuts there. I saw a skinhead walking round with a wool baling hook tucked into his belt. Saw all the bands around town. What a fantastic amazing time 😂❤ Thank you so much for this podcast.

LEGENDS!!! Best Rainbow lineup.
Subbed mate
My fave pub band back in the 80s was Stolen Carz. My brother worked at an engraving company that made the perspex Carz Keys that gave you free entry to their gigs. Ended up one of my mates went to Nambour High in QLD with John (guitarist) from the band and I ended getting to know Phil Campbell (drummer) who went on to drum with Big Pig, that's him on the Breakaway video. We went to parties where the bands were going as well, never, ever will I forget the awesome 80s! Bring on that time machine!!!
Well done, Sam! Great historic video! 👏🍻
This audio is not a cover. It is the Masters Apprentices original release with Jim Keays on lead vocal.
Melbournes scene was huge. Cover bands and recording artists played across a big live band circuit. The Gig Guide in the Sun was 2 full pages of live gigs across Melbourne every weekend. Never went to WA but can’t imagine it would b3 anything like Sydney and Melbourne.
So glad I was a part of this era - so much fun, so many great memories - I will never forget this fantastic time of my life. Thanks muso's, you're all legends!!
Awesome
It was definitely a good time for WA bands, Saturday night at the Stadium Wembley to see the Frames was a comment event and if you wanted you could go and see a band mid week if you wanted.
I know there where a lot of pub bands around at the time but to have this nostalgia trip without mentioning the primo pub band at the time with the great Terry Barker at the helm The Motors / Formula One is a travestry
V-Capri were the first live gig I ever saw. I must have been 15 and they did a lunchtime gig at Scarborough High School. They were fantastic.
Little whoopsie there at the end by Beardy. But, in his defense, its a real fun song to play so we can't really ding him for getting caught up in the moment and losing his place. Overall, I give it a solid 7.
Yep. We were younger and life was so much fun. The Herdies, the Nookie and the Floreat. RBT killed a lot of it, but i remember so many fun times with the big nights out in Perth. Pinocchio's, and bathovens, and the down under as well. One of the great bands around at the time was Catch. saw them a few times at the Herdies. Good times never to be repeated. we had the best of times.
The WA live band days of the 1980s was legendary and will never be experienced like that again.... the talent, the venues, the crowds and the excessive 80s ... was absolutely fantastic to experience... and the clubs after ...
The World Famous Oralettes were my favourite band of the era.
As a fairly average bassist and vocalist I consider myself very fortunate to have been a part of this magical era and to have played with some of the great musicians and magnetic personalities featured in this doc. Great memories of playing in the Scamps at The Blue Note in the mid 80s to wall to wall crowds on Friday nights with Brendan O'Brien, Rob Marsh and Bruce (Buzz) Nichols who sadly passed away a few years back. Such a brilliant time in my life.
Thanks for uploading this Sam Robbie lived with me and my mum during his Skunk Anansie days. What a great bloke he was, I miss him man.
Thursday nights pinnichio,s anything goes.friday raffles, generator, herdies, warwick .which best band was pkaying .saturday nights Charles, windsor raffles.finish off sunday session at the warwick .Jets..killa underage aswell ..🤟🤟🤟.through in the overflow, nookenburra .so so many .thank you for bringing them back .
It was a freak of nature back then mostly, but it was fun and behind the curtain quite in-house political too mostly, some great talent and some that were sidelined because it was political, showbiz is smoke and mirrors by default.
Loaded Dice at the Civic, loud music, full of piss, pulling chicks with the HQ Statesman, those were the days. (paying for burning the candle at both ends now though)🚬
G'day to you! So good to see Perth Bands get a Mention, 70s was also a great time for Perth Bands ,used to go to the St Georges Cath. and watch Bakery and I followed Supernaut ,who became Church if I remember rightly, so many great Perth Bands all worthy of mention, thanks for the Memories great times, I am now 74 !
Bakery were brilliant
@@johncongerton7046 G'day John, yes they were, wow talk about Flashbacks,I am 74 now and still remember them well,Cheers from Armadale!
Thanks for posting this. So good to see Perfect Strangers, Fonzarellis and Innocent Bystanders again.
