Magnifica tarde musical
Szép! Gratulálok!!!
GYÖNYÖRÜ....
Kathr! Jones smoke gets in your eyes K
Superb! I am proud to be an ex R.M. Bandsman, and these guys and gals are the best ever. Shame about people talking, and heads in way. Never see these parades on BBC..but then, well, more 'important' mundane shows are on such as 'The Voice' ....
I am sorry to have to report that the BBC used to transmit TV of these parades on a regular basis. This was discontinued some years ago unfortunately. In similar fashion they used to transmit the whole Edinburgh Tattoo, albeit recorded over more than one performance, but now we are getting less and less as the editors seem to be allowed less and less time on air.
Representative Band of the Navy of Finland is playing: 53:10 "A Feast of sport" comp. by Usko Kemppi, 56:08 "The Eight inch cannon" by Teuvo Laine 59:03 "With guts and heart" by Timo Hytönen 01:01:05 "Blue jacket's march" by Georg Malmstén 01:04:30 "Storm skaer's Maja" by Lasse Mårtensson 01:08:20 "Out to the open sea" by Teuvo Laine
52:48 "A Feast of sport" * 01:01:04 "Blue jacket's march" * 01:08:19 "Out to the open sea" *
Thanks Nigel for uploading it! The HMRM Bands are each one and all simply the best military band(s) ever to play in this planet! Even as a foreigner I am proud of its existence.
Does anybody know the music that starts at 45.00?
By my reckoning it is the new piece "Clash of the Dreadnoughts" by WO2 Bandmaster Russ Young which was premiered in April at the Mountbatten Festival.
+Nigel Lillywhite Thanks :)
Simply the BEST!
they are really the finest military band in the world
At just after 36 minutes, the Massed Bands split into four separate bands whilst playing the "Mountbatten March" ............. this is always a tricky time as the four bands are marching away from each other, plus the four separate echoes going on within the parade ground, it's easy to get out of step if not concentrating and listening to the bass drum beats coming from within the band you're marching with ...... Very few bands are able to carry out this manouvre successfully. SuperNutkin
Thank You For Uploading.
Kan iemand van DVS mij vertellen hoe de mars bij 1:23:30 heet en wie het heeft gecomponeerd. Overigens een uitstekende uitvoering qua tempo en een indrukwekkend strakke exercitie!
Thank you Nigel, you have done a great job filming this event.
I have just read some of the comments. 1 there is no such thing as Royal Naval Cadets they are members of the Sea Cadet Corps. 2 cadets below the rate of Cadet Petty Officer wear red not gold badges 3 the only medal cadets are entitled to wear are for the Nymegen marches. I would suggest that the escorts are either RN regulars or reservists.
En Belgique, la ville de Waterloo a organisé des reconstitutions grandioses
What have Finland, Poland or Switzerland got to do with the Battle of Waterloo? Why no Germans given the huge number of German troops who fought there? Also why no Belgians? Admittedly Poles and Swiss participated as part of the French army. There were a couple of Swiss regiments in l'Armee du Nord but they fought the Prussians at Wavre. There was the Polish lancer regiment of the Garde Imperiale but they were only a single squadron at Waterloo.
pbegley99 Also noticed the big Swedish contingent - why?

It is not for me to comment on the selected pparticipants. I can only suggest an approach to the organisers. I was merely a reporter on military bands.
pbegley99 You know that back then Belgium didn't exist?

Is that the Royal Navy Cadet Force on "escort" duty? Good grief. They need a good talking to from Billy Mott.
I will not be concerned in criticising people, units, or arms of the service.
I don't think even the legend himself would be able to sort out that mob.
I agree theSwedish Cadets did look good. Unfortunately for me the place I was in, and other reasons, prevented any more shots. I heard that they made a good impression at their Tower of London performance. In earlier comments I forgot to mention the presence of the large Brentwood Imperial Youth Band.
+Nigel Lillywhite The Brentwood Imperial Youth Band make me so proud of being English
The Royal Swedish Navy cadet band is looking good. and sounding good. Is sad you didnt get them more in this movie. :-)
The bands at Waterloo Station were, in order of play, Royal Netherlands Army "Johan Willem Fiso" Band, Bydgosz Polish Army Band, Representative Band of the Navy of Finland. Others seen in the video were H.M. Royal Marines, DVS Katwijk, French Artillery, Swedish Navy Cadet, Scottish Southern Highlanders, City of Zurich Police.
Can you tell me the names of the bands playing please
Thank you so much for this video. My son is in the Welsh Guards Band and as my husband and I live in Australia, this is the only way we can follow his performances. I have been watching you tube every day hoping somebody would put 2014 Beating the Retreat on for all to see. Thanks again
I am very happy that I have given family pleasure. Only sorry my tags did not make it easier for people to find the item.
