It is difficult to fathom...boggles the mind really...how totally in sync John Mayer's understanding of the capabilities of his instrument are. This jam illustrates how brilliant he is. He certainly has come a long way from pop tunes, into blues master, and finally into a progressive jazz rock giant. His timing and feel are right there with the likes of Fripp, Satriani, Beck, and even Holds worth. If he stays well and healthy, he could reach the Hendrix level. He has the desire and the fire, and is developing the emotion and feel gradually. Pleasure to watch his growth.

Couldn’t get Billy Strings,dude is to good a songwriter and doing his own thing. They settled in my book. Not a big J.M. fan.

Incredible to see this band evolve from this fine rendition to the absolutely stellar versions on their last most recent tour. Mayer was always good but his playing over the last five years has ascended to new unbelievable heights as has the rest of the band.

I so wanted to hate John when he signed on with Dead & Co. I was wrong. He CAN handle the music. I like to say he’s not replacing, he’s just filling in til Jerry gets back.

I have really loved these guys how much they fit in is incredible but this is supposed to b their last year of touring because Bobby wants to get into the studio to record for his Ace album plus others because vinyl is better ! Mayer sounds great with these guys, so much space to explore and time to really improvise. Hopefully he’ll continue in that direction it suits him well. A lot of cats can shred these days but being able to play music like this…a lot of pacing, patience, and LISTENING is required
