1rst century Jewish Historian Flavius Josephus said of Jephthah "But as he came back, he fell into a calamity no way correspondent to the great actions he had done; for it was his daughter that came to meet him; she was his only child and a virgin. Upon this Jephthah heavily lamented the greatness of his affliction, and blamed his daughter for being so forward in meeting him, for he had vowed to sacrifice her to God. However, this action that was to befall her did not embitter her, since she should die on occasion of her father's victory, and the liberty of her fellow citizens. She only desired her father to give her leave for two months, to bewail her youth with her fellow citizens.” Josephus continued, “Accordingly, when that time was over, he sacrificed his daughter as a burnt offering. An offering that was neither conformable to the law, nor acceptable to God, not weighing with himself what opinions the hearers would have of such a practice." So while I am betwixt between the two arguments, I lean more towards that Jephthah sacrificed his daughter. (Flavius Josephus, Book of Antiquities, book 5, Chapter 7, verse 10) If we take note, Josephus said that it was unacceptable to God and was against the law. The themed verse in judges is that “everyone did what was right in their own eyes,” Judges 17:6 & 21:25. All through judges we are told of horrific events and terrible fates, lives in ruins and chaotic disorder because they did not do the things that God had called right and commanded them to do. We also know that in judges, as these two have agreed upon, the Israelites were being greatly influenced by the pagan worshipers and pagan cultures that surrounded them.

Whoa!! Suddenly at minute 14 I realized this message is "reformed" in nature, Calvinistic, calvinism at the heart... You ignore the fact that Paul spoke to the woman. What exactly do you think he spoke to them about, verse 13? He obviously shared the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, his death and resurrection, that FAITH in Him alone and in His sacrifice is the ONLY means by which we are saved.

The bible is clear... Jephtah made a vow that he'd sacrifice whatever comes out. Then the bible says he did with her according to his vow. We already saw what his vow was, it was not a vow for her to remain a virgin.

i believe she is right, guy is wrong. you have to ask yourself this: what if his neighbor walked into the door. what's he going to do, offer him as a devoted servant at the temple? what if an animal comes through? he's going to force the chicken to be a servant of god all its life? i believe he really did offer her up as a sacrifice. and the woman on the left is spot on: back in those days everyone did as they desired and they were influenced by the evil pagans around them. in those days they cared A LOT about marriage and lineage. the daughter talking about not getting married reflect that. the daughter is not implying that she is sad that she will live, just as a nun. again, the woman on the left is correct.

David ate The Show Bread; Jesus worked on The Sabbath; Joseph was Not going to hurt Marry; The Law is Not for A Righteous person. Though there is A Penalty for Breaking The Law. David numbered Israel. God sought occasion against Israel with Samon+David

Jesus didn’t necessarily die for us, they killed him so what choice did he have. I’m wondering what makes him different from any other man that teach the gospel and is obedient. Besides the magical stuff they claim he did.

"Hope" in the Bible is an absolute, Jesus, our blessed "Hope"! .... A certainty.... (Titus 2:13, etc.) Conversely, the world's understanding of "hope" is more "wishful thinking".... I "hope" this passes soon, I "hope" the weather gets better.... etc.... very different than Biblical hope..... unfortunately many Christians and Pastor's do not make the distinction and often equate the two as the same.... they are not. Biblical "hope" is not a "thing" we wishfully cling to.... Biblical "Hope" is the Savior we confidently abide in....

Father God, I feel there is an assignment against my life to slowly kill my joy, my blessings, my progress, my character and sickening and defiling my person. I feel personally assaulted by a group of demon possessed people, whereby I bind every assault on my life in accordance with esther 7, it has to stop now and forever, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

We're gonna see the way God Chose someone who also felt very ordinary to participate something extraordinary simply by being willing, by being obidient and responsive . Lydia believe was an asiam woman whom . Awalnya itu dia mau membangun gerejanya di asia kecil tapi Tuhan panggil dia ke arah eropa trpatnya di greek. Thr colour purple on those days was it was a color of royalty and in many ways still is she's a bussiness woman. The lord open her heart. We do play a role in salvation. Our rolr as testimonies of God. Only God who makes things grow. Lead me to this opportunuties to water to plant seeds. Everything just temporal. Your resources, your ability was God plan.

So the moral of the story would be: to honor God, and God says to honor authority, but God also says he is in control, (the ultimate authority,) so if you choose to rebel or go against the authority, or choose to submit to the authority (believing that either way- God is leading you to do so,) than either way you will have chosen the correct path. That is, if you truly believe God has the ultimate authority and the choice you make is truly inspired by Him or is led by Him and glorifies Him. Glory to God!
