Do you learn your own or took some classes; If alone like how long "hrs"? Thank You 🤙
Hey mate. I actually teach it myself but having lessons definitely streamlines your progression.
@@Flowfoiling Thank for sharing 💪🤙
Hey Dyl, I'm still using your old 80 cm gofoil mast all good. What GoFoil front and tail would be suitable for a downwind run like that? Cheers
Hey Matt. I believe they have a new one called 990 which is pretty much a copy of the Lift 150. Results on them were pretty good over in Hawaii. Tail their flat race tail cut down would be a pretty good set up mate. Or if you want to jump ship to Lift lmk and I’ll hook it up
@@Flowfoiling thanks dyl, good to know both facts!
@jasongauci634 won’t let me respond
Im a heavier guy, What foil setup does Dave use for downwind SUP foiling? Size front/back wing TIA
From memory Gofoil 1075 cm
Wat size is the mast ?
75cm
@@Flowfoiling this setup looks awesome mate
Sorry to be a pain but can you put all that info down for me so I can go order it all I’m new to foil riding so it’s a little overwhelming and expensive to get it wrong , I’ve been surfing for over 20 years and paddle boarding so your dimensions look pretty spot on cheers mate
Crazy bruh
Thank's for this video !
👍🍺🏄🏼
Can you send me one to nz? If so what size would you recommend for me? I’d want an allrounder, basically bay runs and light 20kt ocean. I don’t want a ship once I’m up and don’t want to work hard or be stressed to get on foil. Lots of my videos online. I want to taste the Kalama magic. 77kg 🤙🤙
For sure mate! You would be a 8’2 based on that information. Please get in touch via email to arrange freight details. Supnewcastle@gmail.com
Thanks for great reviev , do you know any places in Europe like Poland or Germany or Holland where it could be possible to stay on the water on the new barracuda and try to get feeling about stability without looking for volume numbers ? 👍🙂
Thank you artist and brilliant surfer Dave Kalama for sharing your work with everyone. There really is so much involved in boat building and theory that it’s overwhelming. I think Dave has made something iconic like a Lego or a Tonka truck or a Lightning Bolt surfboard or a Tony Alva skateboard deck.
I thought displacement hull was better performing to take off earlier....it seems there are two ways of thinking about that. What do you think? Thanks for your videos! It's a pleasure to hear people like Dave.
How does it maintain propulsion? So cool
The ocean energy, it’s like catching wave after wave
The volume is VERY low. Flow Foiling can you check into it on your end?
Unsure why, many people have listened and watched it. I just tried on my phone, laptop and tv with no issue ?
@@Flowfoiling This was on a PC. I will try an iPhone & YT app.
Please let me know
@@Flowfoiling yeah, on pc seems very low volume
Try on TH-cam app
Epic chat, very insightful. Dave's the man!
I hear what Dave is saying. Most SUP riders can agree to emphasize volume because its common ground and a relatable conversation. We all know our shoe size… now throwing volume out the window… how does one select a board size while ignoring volume data?
Most sales are done over a conversation with one of us.
What wing do they use.? I have the M280 and I can't get up.
From memory was the pnl, try the GT2200 Or P1500. Something more efficient
A big mahalo to Dave Kalama for his relentless pursuit to evolve foil board design out of the dark ages. These days the only thing better than having a Barracuda in the back of the truck is to have a couple of them to choose from to match the foil discipline du jour and the water conditions.
Great discussion. Love the Barracuda, can't wait to see the newest tech for down winding. XP will undoubtedly be amazing.
Heck yeah. Tbanks for sharing this!
Dave should be a politician
Great to hear from the master again! Weight of the rider is another factor which affects the box placement, this obviously a heavier guy could never replicate
👍🍺
Great listening to you and Dave, Dyl. VP sounds like it will be my choice due to mostly wave riding on SUP. I just wonder how we place an order, if it will be online or if we need to call Dave to reserve one.
If your in the USA the stock just arrived. Give him a call or email to grab yours. If Australia give me a call 0411240542
What size E3 is he on? And what does he weigh?
6’1 and is 84kg in this vid
Great video, epic run along a special Coast line, dont think id like to spend to much time in the drink there . Congratulations 💪👍
Thanks 🙏🏽
Greetings! I am 41 years old, weight 85 kg, height 174 kg. I have 3 years of experience with a paddle and wine, but no experience with hydrofoil. I want to do downwind on the river with a paddle in flat and downwind especially. I'm afraid to make a choice, I'm especially worried about the width of the board, so that it won't be too difficult if it's narrow for me. Therefore, I am not considering the 8'×19' 5 option yet, is it really so difficult for a beginner to stand on a long and narrow board? And therefore it is worth choosing on Kalama E3 6'5×23'5' 116 liters. Will this be enough for a beginner's stability? Or there is a Kalama 6'5×27'5 , 130 liters.? What is your opinion? The main goal is downwind on the river.
For your weight as a beginner go the larger one or wait a short time for the newer longer wider one to be released
Amazing interview Thanks Dyl and Dave Some absolute gems of wisdom Loved the bit about pushing boundaries and you don’t learn anything in the middle ‘safe’ zone, applies to pretty much everything in life 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it Matt. We’ll be releasing another catch up talk Like this one when Dave visits Australia this March
Just started my downwind journey, riding 7'8" Barracuda here in San Francisco. Very different experience to prone though not much more than a pound heavier. Starting out w/Foil Drive 'cause I'm old : ) Keep the vids coming!
Epic mate. Stoked for you. We’ll have more clips soon. I should add a few recent ones soon.
what size board is that? amazing !
6’1 x 23 at 104L
Grow up
I agree 🤙🏽😎🤙🏽
This is a wise man talk " forget any boundaries" I loved it ❤
Ripping !
More Go Foil parts that the general public will never have access to. You are so much better off on the Lift team.
Stoked to have joined the lift team now.
Yeah
Is that Tallebudgera ?
Yeah mate
Какой размер и объем литров доски у вас.? Тоже хочу Калама👍
This one is 6’5 x 23.5
what is your weight? How do you compare the 8" and 7'10? You mention that you rode the 8" in Maui, but the 7'10 will be your go-to from now on. I'm 155 lbs with decent SUP paddle skills and I'm an intermediate wing foiler. Do you think will total commitment, I can struggle through the learning curve on the 7'10 and save the trouble/expense of learning on the 8 and sizing down to 7'10 later? I'm also planning to use it a lot for light wind and downwind winging, and I have a foil drive assist to help with the learning curve with the paddle. Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo!!
Hey mate. I’m 79kg and love the 7’10. I used it in M2M and Hood river along with many other places surfing too. If you’re a decent paddler/foiler 710 is the way to go. Foil drive will also assist you. I currently ride it with a Lift 150 HA-X and love it.
@@Flowfoiling picked up my 7’10 today. I can’t wait to suffer 😅
Good stuff!!
What tail are you using?
16” HA flat tail. They’re coming out soon in 20” but you can cut them down
Got a bit of speed there Dylan
I’m road tripping up past Newcastle probably first week of January, definitely be keen if your not on holidays yourself
Drop me a line when your in town
Thanks very helpful. You have answered all my questions.
sure...give it a try
Hello, I want to get into sup foil/wing. I was wondering the liters on that board? I see the 6'0" Sup/wing Is 131L. You rip it like it's tiny. Are you on the E3 performance 115L? I am about your size and very good on sup and efoil lol. Would you consider this model the best to learn? Mahalo Pat
Hey Pat. This is the 6’1 x 23 at 105 E3, I would suggest the 6’5 x 23.5 at 116L for you. Best for wing and sup, even downwind
Noted bruddah! Mahalo Pat@@Flowfoiling
They were out of the 6'5" so I purchased the 6'1" wide with the 115L let the learning curve begin 2024@@Flowfoiling
@@PA96704how is it ? How wide btw ? Cheers
@@koejoe howzit 6'1" 26 wide 115l. I weigh 180lbs-188lbs lol not sure it's at my house but I am working in Saudi Arabia at the moment. Be home in 2 weeks gonna paddle it without the foil. I'll report the floatation without foil.
What size is that?
7’10
Show off! 😆
Which size is that?
The original 8’ but he used the 7’10 today.
that looks like a intense workout
