add a bit of reading and these become my 6 professional goals of 2025. written down in my block note, i couldnt have imagined that someone (who has graduated ) would recommend the things i am doing now as a 1st year student (or trying to) add to this that the courses you mentioned you wanted to take (filmamking, creative writing.. ) are all things that align perfectly with my interests, not that im gonna take them, because that's not an option as im not even a cs student. Nevertheless, great advice, great video, really heartfelt and genuine. thank you sayhyun.
Currently following a diploma in IT. There's so little in the course right now to do and I have so many side projects that I really have to finish really makes me think: Do I really have free time?
no one asked your advice
😊 there is ageism. I don't see too many programmers made it to their 60s.
Companies do not want you to do the programming personally. They want you to lead a team of overseas workers to do the programming.
Two major fields of programming are business and scientific. Certain jobs are for engineers only.
i was going through programming videos. however the reason i clicked this video is 한국 이름이거든요 😁
I have a degree in Software Development but nobody will give me a chance, it sucks ass and now I work at Amazon.
Im Not an expert but I would probably build a software myself and Launch it to Show Potential employers that You have practical experience
If you are not going to a good college forget about the education part, you will get nothing but the paper.
Thank you 😊! Wish you the best
Thank you for the down-to-earth and realistic advice. I feel better and more prepared for college now!
You are too young. At your age you remember everything, but in 20 years you will forget everything andvthe only thing that will be left with - is the degree...
Java is so hard lol I am struggling in it this semester. I am loving web programming more and more
What have heard is job finding after masters from top colleges like Univeristy of Michigan or like Gtech is still quite competitive? is that true? Im a junior in HS and wanna major in SWE because of moeny
wow a video that actually has honest advice and this really resonated to me thank you so much for sharing
if u will going to be programmer you need to build projects or big project.
Very genuine advice. I really hope I knew these when I was still in uni.Thank you so much for sharing though!
Wrong field to get a degree in
I'm currently studying computer science at a university in sri lanka. Just started my first semester and I have no idea what I am about to face.
I double majored in cs and finance, and struggled to decide with path I wanted to take. I got a finance internship one summer for a company in seattle, but I didn’t like it. now I’m doing a swe internship post-grad and feel like I have so much catching up to do. I definitely wish I would’ve prioritized getting more swe internships and college/being more in involved lol.
Without certifications it will be hard to get an IT job. Instead of going to college you would be better served getting certified rather than a college education. Hiring managers prefer certifications over the degrees anymore. also a degree is just outdated theory that is taught whereas certification is theory and practicality. Companies already expect you to have experience.
more than anything the only reason I want to attend college is for a good job
I am 28, next year i will save enough money to start my degree! Do you guys have any suggestions?
Why is it a problem where to take your girlfriend next when going to a restaurant?
greatg video lil blhd
Congratulations on completed your degree in CS. I am very proud of you. Good luck with your job in the future. No matter where you work.
i think world system in education should change, btw thats not just my opinion i read some education scientist about that and specificly in school we took 12 years study to finish school and get college to get degree and our information is nothing to get job or having information like economics law physcology, we finish school with zero information and this should do you think this system will change?
Please what app do you use in editing your videos
Unfortunately my school sucks so for me it is all about the degree and the courses do not matter.. I do not learn anything from my school its pretty sad. its all self taught. Ive emailed for help before and the response I get is simply "look online".. yeah.. my school sucks but im to far in to try for a different school so heres to going for just a piece of paper showing I completed it
Why did you get a C+ in your Data Structures & Algorithms? Every Computer Science students should Ace this class, just like a boss in the video game that prevents you to proceed to the next level until you master killing it.
94-2005, degrees were pieces of paper. You have to have an angle, a mission, self-learning. Still. Truth is, right out of high school, you know jack. 4 years later, you still know jack. You have to put your hands on the wheel. College was great, but not even a baby step. The most expensive baby step. Show me a BS curriculum where they require you learn to code a TLS pipe, secure. It's all wrong, and I should have used CE as a base, not CIS/CS. Not web dev, not the fake cybersecurity degree. Hardware first. You'll feel better about the logic you consume.
I found it interesting that you mentioned about CS being more of an "art" degree. I will say that I am not CS, but rather EE, but usually we wind up inside the same boat academically. Something I I find that is commonly misunderstood about engineering, is that it's not primarily a technical degree. First and foremost, engineering is about designing. Engineers are designers. In the same way that an artist may attend college to broaden their social and creative backgrounds to be able make better designs, An engineer studies in college to broaden their technical and theoretical backgrounds (and some parts social/creative as well) to design better solutions to a given problem.
UPDATE !!!!
last part is the hardest
Real question, what/where did you go to make the dating sim game? Also, Id love to see it.
One correction: The PAPER/DEGREE gets you the job. The SKILLS you gained from the classes and internships lets you KEEP the job.
Great video man, It looks nice weather sayhyun! 멋져요 세현님!
This is so me… which is why I’m going back for computer science. I realized I’m not passionate about video game art so in 2 years I’m going back to completely restart. I wasted my first 4 years and It won’t happen again
It’s also important to take a few classes outside of your major that are not of interest to you. This will force you to learn things because you say you’re going to learn them. This is very important in your future.
I totally understand. My undergrad CS was based in Pascal. My brain still thinks in Pascal. It's taken me years to break out of top-down Pascal and default to thinking in terms of thread concurrency. I eventually mastered libdispatch only to have Apple deprecate it in favor of Swift's Async/Await. Old dogs don't learn new tricks quickly. Yep. I'm 64.
Interesting backpack you’re using… What type is it? I think I’m a bag snob 😂
Thank you, it feels very genuine what you say, good luck
Watching this on my senior year of my major Could've done stuff a little better, especially with the practicing during off-semesters thing. First starting out the degree, I thought the plan would have everything laid out for me and that there would be classes dedicated to practicing leetcode and getting ready for interviews. Which never happened lol Same for time management. Still a hardcore procrastinator, saving assignments for the last couple days if not the last, then locking in and doing it in a few hours. I *have* improved since high school at least. I now make sure to at least tackle a part here and there so that final rush isn't so bad
I did most of college in Java and I still only think in c++
Hey man just watched your video, great stuff. I’m at Central Michigan right now for CS. I am wondering if you could share maybe a list of some of the most marketable skills to have as a Software Engineer so that we can tailor our class choice and side projects to what employers are looking for. Also, did you go to Ann Arbor campus or Dearborn? I’ve been looking to transfer there or maybe do a masters there.
100% correct!
I’m curious as to what you did with these apps when you made them. Did you upload them onto an Apple Store? Google store? Did you send it to the public?! Very curious!
But I was forced to take a stupid business class
How can I learn any technology? Whether using book, courses or documentation
