I'm a Tesla EV enthusiast as well as a retired partner at one of the Big 4 accounting firms. My passion is vehicle autonomy, robotics, EVs, and sustainability. I'm a Tesla Full Self Driving Supervisor with my 2024 Model 3 Long Range All Wheel Drive. I enjoy creating fun/entertaining as well as educational videos of my full self drives as well as travel vlogs in my Tesla. I enjoy talking to others about Tesla, EVs, autonomy and robotics. I'm also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served active duty as a heavy weapons specialist from 1988 - 1994, and I'm a Gulf War veteran. I'm a husband and father of 4 wonderful children, all of whom are now grown (empty nester). Finally, I love feedback (both good and bad), so don't hesitate to reply or ask questions on any of my videos. This is my post-retirement passion, I love every minute of creating these videos, and try to respond to everyone. I take all of your feedback to heart. So don't hold back, let me have it! Love you all!!!
Tesla Full Self Driving-2nd day of v12.5.6.3-Woodlands, TX to pickup my brother-in-law: Timelapse 4K
Tesla Full Self Driving (Supervised) version 12.5.6.3 on my 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range All Wheel Drive took me from Porter, Texas to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas to pick up my brother-in-law for discharge from the hospital and then take him back home to Porter. This video is a timelapse video with accompanying music and is in 4K HD quality. I had zero "critical interventions" and one "non-critical/comfort intervention" to lightly touch the accelerator to help Tesla FSD get through a u-turn underneath the I-45 bridge a little faster with other vehicles behind me. Version 12.5.6.3 performed fantastic today! Especially on the highways/freeways! I hope you enjoy! And as always, please let me know if you have any questions/comments/suggestions/requests. And don't forget to smash like and subscribe! Love you all!

Awesome! Some sketchy areas but the AI was able to maneuver around. I live in Shepherd and travel to southwest Houston every work day. Can you do a video for stop & go traffic with autopilot and not FSD? I've been test driving a lot but I only get an hours worth of driving.
As a 45-year-old, especially one who is currently immobile and potentially facing a surgery or two and a long recovery myself, I appreciate your jokes about 45 being young.
Always a beautiful day in the greater Houston area 😉
Can you leave your settings for FSD in the description or a pinned comment?
That is a great recommendation! Yes I will make sure that is part of the description for each video going forward. Thanks! ❤️
Thank you I know you say it in the videos but I just hate to go back in the video and try to find where you said it at 😩
@ You are 100% correct. About to update the pretext now in the description about is there for all future videos. I need to go out to my Tesla first to make sure I get them right 🤣
The exit on the way back home was my favorite part 👏👏👏
I know right! I was speechless!
Great video i enjoyed.
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! And thank you for watching and commenting!!! ❤️
You have the best driving FSD videos because most guys now are overlaying the screen and it takes the whole screen up. Keep your method up, it looks great!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback! Yes, I get the sense that most folks really like this style of having the driver on screen, but small and at bottom, and to NOT alter the actual driving view.
great video!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Gotta admit....that's pretty freaking cool!
Thank you! ❤️
Thanks. Great vid. I think your sunglasses thing was maybe your large low cap brim. Could be wrong but it looks borderline on the camera angle brim situation.
You could be right, I’ve been trying different combinations. But yesterday I kept the hat on and took off the sunglasses and never got nagged again for over an hour. So I think it’s mainly the sunglasses
@ just try it…. next time it complains while you’re wearing sunnies… leave them on and take your cap off and wait a minute or three. It is instant to respond normally but if eye monitoring stops and it switches to hand monitoring, it only checks if eyes available again at intervals of a minute or so. I think a lot of people misinterpret what works because they think it should re-enable quickly.
FSD loves the kids! 😉
🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯
To know what road you are on, just look on the bottom right on the navigation screen.
Thanks! Yea, I keep forgetting that in the heat of the moment 🤣
I used this feature at Walmart two nights ago and blew everyone's minds.
That’s awesome!!! I need to find some new places now. I’m wearing out the HEBs 🤣
Awesome. Thanks for the video. I just got the same update. I'm about to enjoy the almost 2 hours here. lol
You’re gonna love it! I always enjoy watching this software evolve! And it did great! I did encounter a couple of interventions: downtown and at Rice U. but nothing they won’t get corrected. Sometimes these new updates need to marinate about a week.
@@johnchristopher7697 Great video, JC. I especially liked the ending, when the car switched three lanes to exit. I can’t wait to try it tomorrow on my way to work. Question: When that female student was crossing, and you stopped, did the Tesla miss the stop sign and continue forward? I'm unsure if there was a limit line for the stop sign, but I saw a pedestrian crossing before that. Thanks
@ That final lane changing had me speechless. And you now know it’s hard to make me stop talking 🤣🤣🤣
Going to try to get a Tesla at the end of 2024.
That’s awesome Jay! Let me know if you have any questions!

Happy Monday to you too. I finally got the 12.5.6.3 update. It feels so much smoother than 12.5.4.2. I took it around the Cypress area, and the end-to-end highway stack felt like magic. Looking forward to your thoughts on it.
That’s awesome! I had my first drive with 12.5.6.3 today as well, it was great! I did a two hour drive and took it through the wringer (highways, 610 loop, downtown, museum district, Rice U, etc), and it was sooooo smooth. I did experience a couple of issues, but nothing major, and sure they will be worked out. I will upload the videos later today. Thanks for watching and commenting!
It would be nice if Elon what integrate speech output to the driver. That way the driver wouldn't have to look down at the screen so often. I'm really surprised that Tesla programmers haven't done that yet
I hear that may be coming soon with Grok voice assistant in all Teslas. I agree, it would be really nice!
Thank you JC put your service has a US Marine. Oorah!

Thanks for this. My Model Y is being delivered Saturday and I have been curious about FSD before I pick it up.
@@jakobwest4811 That’s awesome! Congratulations! Let me know if you have any questions at all. I would be happy to discuss them during my next FSD drive video. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I've used FSD lil at a time for short trips. Should I use it everyday to get comfortable with it? I'm already comfortable with it. But is it bad to use FSD all the time everyday?
I use it everyday all the time. But then again I’m wholeheartedly passionate about FSD and autonomy and want to help improve the software. A lot of folks just love to drive their Teslas. So whatever gives you the most enjoyment. If you’re looking to get more comfortable with it then I would suggest just a little at a time. And maybe increase a little each day. Don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with. Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤️
I agree with you when it comes kill the people that has 30 interventions in 15 MI. The drivers where they live at must suck really really bad. And another thing that gets on my nerves about those people play nitpick over every little dang. Is a way better driver than most people
What would FSD do if it gets behind a slow vehicle on a rural country road?
That’s a great question! I have actually encountered this situation a handful of times. The last few times Tesla FSD basically just stayed behind the slow vehicle until another vehicle behind the Tesla made a move to go around the slow vehicle and us, and the the Tesla followed the passing vehicle if there was room to do so. But it has not been brave enough to do it on its own. But it used to not do this at all on previous software versions. So definitely improving but also not there yet. Thanks for watching and commenting! Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions. ❤️
@johnchristopher7697 thank you for responding to my question. I'm hoping in the future to own a Tesla. Where I live there's a lot of rural roads and it's inevitable to get behind a slow driver or the occasional farm equipment. Here's hoping through future FSD updates it will get the nerve to pass these types of vehicles. I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I enjoy watching your videos. Like you I'm open this technology will save thousands of lives by removing bed drivers out of the equation. In addition giving other individuals like those with visual disabilities the ability of self-sufficiency abd Independence

@ keep it up brother! I also do like your input on X Spaces too.
Thank you brother! I really appreciate that! Yes I try to join in on others X Spaces from time to time, and really enjoy chatting with folks there.
Still too risky in my opinion. Sometimes people just walk out in front of you last minute. Not to mention how packed they can get. But i'm very impressed with the tech so far!
Thank you for watching and commenting! And I completely understand your feelings. At this point I have done about 60-70 of these sessions, to the point I know all of the security guards and cart guys by first name :-) lol, so it has definitely given me confidence that the technology is there. Also, currently it doesn't go very fast (about 6 mph), and I have it on video on my iPhone the entire time so I can stop the car with my phone. I've also generated conversations and new friends in the parking lots with the technology. So overall just a huge plus. But again, completely understand where you are coming from. Hope you come back to watch more! And let me know if you have any requests. I am retired, so I have the time :-) lol
What is your max distance? Mine doesn’t seem to go that far away.
@ Max distance is still 270 feet. Fortunately HEB parking lots aren’t that long, so I can do most of it from the curb.
@ Thanks. Usually I’m too scared to try it at HEB, so I’ll lug my Sushi Wednesday haul to the car. 😂

hope it doesn't do that when there's a vehicle behind you.. only one way to find out 😬 another reason to steer clear of Tesla drivers lol
It’s why you learned in driver’s ed to keep multiple car lengths distance from another car. How many deaths from human manual drivers could be avoided if people obeyed this law. Anyway, happy the cat is alive (as I’m sure you are too), and happy you watched and commented. Thank you! ❤️
crazy takeaway.
@@spongeintel9323 I agree. This was a crazy takeaway from seeing an animal’s life being saved. But I thank you for watching and commenting once again. My algorithm thanks you! 🤣❤️
@@johnchristopher7697 in a perfect world everyone drives with two car lengths in between and is giving 100% attention to the road 100% of the time. we don't live in a perfect world. my point remains that I hope the auto-driving is capable of adapting to complex situations, I won't be the one finding out

Btw, I used to live in Houston. The woodlands is a top-notch community. I used to live north of the buffalo bayou. Great city, but I don't particularly enjoy the endless sprawl. Driving from lets say League City to Tomball is an absolute nightmare if starting that drive at 3 pm.
Haha! You are so right! The biggest issues with Houston are just the immense amount of sprawl. You can literally drive for 100 miles and never leave the Houston metro area. The other thing is the humidity in the summer. Thank goodness Teslas have great AC 😂
JC love the videos my man. You are the GOAT. Thanks for dedicating your time to educate folks on the progress of FSD through each version release.

I wonder if it will prioritize cat or human life in more dire circumstances… glad I’m never going to find out for myself 😂
It would make the same decision as a human would in the same situation. The neural net is trained on the best human drivers. So it would do exactly what you would do. So, what would you do?
@@johnchristopher7697 the specific scenario that scares me is a small animal running in front of a Tesla which is being tailgated. Will the Tesla kill the small animal to avoid a rear end collision? What if I’m going around a bend at speed, with questionable traction (gravel, rain) will it cause me to understeer off a cliff due to hasty automatic brake input? Who’s legally to blame for self driving mishap? Probably the driver, probably best to stay away unless you really trust that shit 😬
that philosophical question always always bothered me when i first discussed it as part of a class in college. It's basically the trolley question: pull the lever and save one person, or leave it and kill him to save five. I never understood why i had a problem with it until very recently. The problem is that it is JUST a thought experiment. The REALITY of a situation will always be very different, with a different context and different set of circumstances. We cannot use our thoughts to interact with reality, there will always be action required, and a thought experiment is, essentially, a fantasy that exists outside of reality. In other words, I don't believe that a Tesla, for example, will have to choose to kill this lifeform over that lifeform, because the car is really exceptional, but also the chances of it finding itself in a situation where it HAS to kill something in order to minimize harm is nearly zero.
@ as your paragraph length suggests, it’s a complex question. I’d rather make the call if I’m going to be liable
@@dillyhaha yeah sorry, let me shorten it: it's a non-issue
