Arlington Airport (Chit Show)

KAWO A typical day at Arlington airport. People arriving and departing on runway 34, one guy wants to use 16. On the ground a Cessna cuts in front of a twin waiting for me to land on short final. It appeared that the Cessna stopped on the runway before starting his takeoff roll so I just went around. East of the runway was being used by glider traffic.
Man I love your paint paint scheme so much! Getting an RV8 myself soon and having it painted. I don't wanna be a copy cat but man yours is a gold standard! Beautiful. Also your landings are always spot on, love it
i do not listen to music when flying
I thought the one around 3:20 was going to go around
Oh snap! Patches' nose wheel shimmy at the end. Wow
Corsair marine 1/2 .visite fonctionnelle explicative très très good machine good. Une histoire d amour mécanique. M'y in France. M'y dispose maximum 10000€ for investissement in machine. Machine corsair good 😊😊😊😊
Ah yes ranger creek the city Slickers backcountry airport….
We camped for years at this site and for years it had a big 'X' on both thresholds. One time a couple very early RV's landed and one of pilots was quite concerned that they had landed on a closed strip and all quickly took off. The strip was in pretty rough shape back then. We would bath in the glacier fed White River. Brrrr!!!
Be nice if they clear some of the trees at the end of these strips. There going to bite someone eventually as they grow when it gets hot and squirly.
Really cool stuff!!
Pretty klew looking spot How long is the strip?
All airplanes nice lined up to be hit by an airplane that's out of control.....
What amazing place to fly !!
Are the winds different at different parts of runways? Seems like tailwinds for those rvs
Some quartering winds and possible eddies but hardly any energy to talk about 5 to 8 mph possibly, some pilots were certainly at the edge of their ability, you always keep your AOA in check!, establish yourself on short finals with plenty of power in and around 10 knots of reserve speed approaching the threshold, you can quickly bleed the speed, personally it would have been a flapless approach for me, there is a lot to be said for cleaning the aeroplane up the moment the landing is made, on the ground flaps are not your friend especially in gnarly winds.
Efff that. No way. I'd freak. I can't even fly on a 737 without thinking there's a very good chance I'm going to die. Great landings though! I love these videos. 😊
I don’t understand why you would do a maximum effort approach when you don’t need to, a stabilised approach with a couple of extra knots will allow for the wind gradients commonly experienced around trees, that first approach in the 172 was just taking dumb risks that didn’t need to taken and could have ended badly.
Thats a sketchy runway
That is not a "sketchy" runway! Any paved mountain runway is a figurative yellow brick road.
Good videos, better without the music.
That last RV almost lost his nose wheel!
Lots of struggling to land, wind sock is just sagging.
Great job everyone! Some better🥴. All walked away! I’d love a video from inside an airplane, landing and takeoff. In 55 years flying, I’ve only landed twice, at airports similarly challenging. I’m amazed at bush piloting and these mountainous airports you guys go into. 👍🏻. I’m in Florida, so flat lander.
The music is a bit misplaced.
Falling leaf on final. More courage than I'll ever have.
Worthless vid. Camera is all over the place & lose the music.
The G5 looks great in there, too.
Still waiting for the touch down bump......... :) Beautiful flight, one of my favorite stops! Have you been to Shelter Cove? Another beautiful spot
I will have to check out Shelter Cove. Never been there but I would imagine they get there share of fog in the summer,
Nice graphics.
So fabulous to see great video.
WHAM
Do you ever get leaks through your fwd baggage door? Do have any special gaskets there? Thanks for video.
I have a piece of foam under the hinge. I don't notice much water leaking from the front. I might get a small amount trough the the front of the canopy. (Tilt over fast back).
Great song.
Nice!
Love the terrain view on that HDX
Awesome
Love it. All the feels
Nice video. Thanks for including some shots of me.
Thanks for showing. Cool place. It’s on the market. I hope they keep it flying so I can visit one day.
I hope it stays an airport, I like flying there.
I'm curious about air space traffic limitations between US and Canadian. Do you have a ceiling/floor to separate?
That's quite a panel! I just completed a Garmin G3X IFR install in my RV7A with a single big screen. I used to fly my Kitfox 4 in your area. Great fun. Thanks for the video.
Good for you 🙌fly safe
Love the corkscrew smoketrail.
That 172 obviously didn’t even look towards the final approach to see you. 🤦🏻♂️
Is that a FlyOnSpeed that I hear?
Enjoyed watching this. I don't expect to fly my RV-8 IFR, but I'm curious; did you take the usual steps to avoid leaks into the forward baggage area and cockpit? Were they successful? Also, were you as bummed out as I was about Garmin discontinuing their action camera line?
I have a tilt over canopy (Showplanes) fastback which make sealing up the canopy for water leaks a lot easier. The biggest issue is fogging up on the ground.
Someone need to mow the grass.
Nothing is more boring and exciting than the inside of a cloud
Runway...1..6....are there 15 more airstrips in point Bob ?
16 signifies the rounded magnetic heading of the runway, so approx. 160 degrees in this case.
Victorville is my home town. I moved away 6 years ago, and I'm getting home sick. I've gotten to fly in and out of KVCV a few times myself, so I rather enjoyed this video.
Diggin' those funky tunes.
