I actually prefer TH-camrs with a handful of subscribers like you because they're less likely to be sponsored, and as a result, they're more real, and I trust them more.
Why is it always the “summer is better” people acting like it’s a personal fault to want it to be cooler out. I don’t enjoy sweating just standing outside, thanks
you're missing the point. No one is attacking people for enjoying fall. We're saying stores bringing out stuff to buy is rushing through seasons as they are, solely to sell people more stuff.
@@bravelygo idk man it just feels passive aggressive to shame people for buying fall decor when it’s still technically summer, I don’t see it as rushing anything. Some people like to decorate for the next season a little early and it hurts literally no one. You could make the same argument when they start putting out summer stuff right after Easter but nobody complains about that. Everything is consumerism when you get down to it. Let people enjoy what they enjoy.
HI! I say stop buying so many different face products(,you only need a cleanser and moisturizer.) no more shoes ,clothe. shop your closet and RESTYLE them and cook more at home. just saying :)
This was literally how our grandparents lived in the 50s and 60s. They only ate out on special occasions too, NOT EVERYDAY
Dropping the truth bombs. I never thought of it that way. Thank you .❤🙌🏽
❤🎉😊
Actually me personally i am counting down the seconds til fall. If i could get days that aren’t consistently 95+ with heat warnings every single day that’d be nice. I will not be enjoying summer
Yes!
i recommend unrollme! it consolidates all your subscriptions, helps you unsubscribe in mass, and creates a digest. i often ignore it but periodically check, and it helps control my spending too
Even all doctors offices in usa I noticed have annoying televisions with the news and adds playing!!! My husband ask the receptionist if they could please close the television we are here with our young child I don't want her to look at this. Ughh I don't want to look at it either.
It’s a legal issues with assets and kids. When you get married your finances become one.
Fuel is the way to go.
president may not control prices but the policies they set do. i.e. shutting down a pipeline that provided millions of family energy
My husband and I purchased a camper that we keep at a spot near the beach. We use it when we can in spring, summer and fall. The more time we spend there the more I see how I can survive with so much less stuff because our camper is small and has room only for the essentials. I'm sick of things. In my time on this earth I've gone from needing everything which leads to debt. Now I only buy what is necessary and I'm so at peace with that.
I currently live alone and while it has some advantages, it can be lonely and there are times I miss the warmth of a companion or conversation of a flatmate Unfortunately I am Old Poor and don't even rate on a pity list so guess I'll end up dying alone, Sux to be me but there's nothing i can do but make the most of it
I’m 27 in southern California. I moved in with my partner at 19 into a tiny 1 bedroom and we’ve lived together since and are now married. so I likely will also never live alone, and I certainly couldn’t afford it here. I have 1 friend who lived alone for 2 years in Houston when she moved there for a job, but then moved in with roommates when she moved to Seattle. literally 1 person is the only one I know
I’m 35, and rented my own apt from ages 23-26, but I know that wouldn’t be tenable if I was that age now. This was in San Antonio and I paid around $650 a month for a one bedroom. I now rent an apt of the same size with my partner in Seattle for almost 4x much. I couldn’t afford to rent solo now, even though I earn double what I made back then. Housing costs are insane.
An interesting option I've seen is the Living Apart Together community. Folks in committed relationships who do not cohabitate with their partners, including prioritizing living alone. "Apartners" is another label I've seen in facebook forums. Here's the Wikipedia page about it, which gives more historical and cultural context: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Living_apart_together
I bought a house in 2012 at the very bottom of the housing crash. I was 20 at the time and had saved up to buy a truck and my parents basically wrung my neck when I mentioned I had that much cash and was planning on buying a depreciating asset. They pointed out to me that at the time a starter home was the same down payment as the truck I was looking at. So throughout my 20's I had an affordable mortgage, despite not earning much, but I was able to offset a chunk of it by giving my friends a great deal on rent. They got rent for about 50% of market rates and I got help paying my mortgage. Win win for everyone. Then as my income grew and my friends started getting married, having kids, and moving out I didn't have a need for roommates anymore and I've been living alone for 5 or 6 years now. I love it. But I kind of love it too much. I can't imagine living with someone else again, and it has been a major sticking point in a couple relationships since then.
You might enjoy learning about the Living Apart Together community I mentioned in my comment. The Apartners group on Facebook, and other similar community spaces, might help you find an aligned partner and/or representation and solidarity from folks who also love living alone. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Living_apart_together
I'm 20 and have lived alone since I was 18
After college, I have never had a roommate. I was low income with no spouse and no kids so I qualified for HUD housing for 11 years. 800 square feet, one bedroom, one bath and a place for a washer and dryer. If it had a garage I wouldn't have moved out. Moved to a townhouse with two bedrooms, one bath and a garage. I only moved out after I retired and wanted one level living. Basement it finished but I never go down there. :)
Only after my spouse passed a few years ago.
Once my son grew up I spent a couple of years alone but I was living in a townhouse that I bought in the housing crash that cost $35k.
After moving out to go to college I lived with roommates in the dorms, roommates in my sorority house, and then moved in with my bf at the time. We had a child together and I moved out around 2019/2020 - I now live alone as an adult (31F), technically, but my 10 year old splits his time 50/50 between my place and his dad’s. I snagged a great “Covid deal” on an apartment and got a Dallas, TX 2 BR for about $1500/month - it has since gone up to $1813, but a 2BR in Dallas for under $2k is still pretty great all things considered.
Okay, are you going to call me ungrateful next lol
I love your videos. You're so wise. I've been hiding from ads for many years now, trying desperately not to be influenced. But I get it that advertising works and we're for sale on the internet because we don't have a paid model for content. This is the great trade-off we made by choosing not to pay for content. Yes, it's a bad trade-off that has many consequences.
4:05 . I've been waiting for someone to call out corporate. Thank you. CEO salaries set records but workers buy soup at $ stores. Look around, think for yourself...draw your own conclusions about greedflation.
You really hit the nail on the head at 10 minutes in. I’m so, so tired of constantly being advertised to. I am thinking of just deleting everything from my phone and staying off of my computer. TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, instagram, and TH-cam, it’s never ending. And I can’t skip any of it any more. Then I’m getting two plus emails a day from every store I’ve ever shopped at. I unsubscribe and the very next time I shop there again, they start up again. It’s tied to your credit cards and phone numbers and email addresses. You can’t escape it.
I think it should be illegal for temu and similar companies to make adds at all - out planet is not even on edge but overboard with all the trash we just throw away… what’s wrong with people
I wouldn't be using my smartphone or laptop if I was bombarded with ads, it wastes too much time. Use a ad blocking browser and avoid the apps. Nothing kills a vibe faster when ur jamming to a playlist and an ad interups
Political policy does drive companies via import cost and labor factors. Idk 🤷♂️ I think Political fiscal spending increases taxes which increases cost of goods and services. Energy cost goes up when uncle Sam says no drilling filthy dog lol😅
I really enjoyed this video! It gave me a lot to think about.
As a Gen X who does love TH-cam, I am just fascinated by all of this. I've been online since the weeeeee days of 1994, when you could see the letters as the person across the world typed out words. :) Fantastic video!
I agree with a lot of what you say but I do find it slightly humorous that you strongly put your views in there and then I don't want to say criticize other people for doing that but I mean obviously you're against raw milk obviously you're against not being vaccinated. Obviously you're against the American flag side of politics. I think that when you share your life or your views you're going to just naturally include your beliefs. It's up to the consumers whether they follow along and try to copy what you're doing or not. But I do see how it makes people feel like they should be a certain way. I just wanted to point out that I think it's impossible to make a video and not have your point of view or part of your lifestyle showing and that's going to influence someone one way or the other regardless of what you want
I don't get why people get mad at being told over consumption is killing the planet. It's like people think we can go to the Universe Store and buy another world. I hope this trend stays. Edit: or at least helps something to change.
Another trend that won't stick long-term, but hey - you gava it a cute Gen Z name.
Whether it seems simple or not, I applaud these folks for getting outside the cycle of consumption. It feels really good to unsubscribe to influencers and just live your life. I lived off-the-grid a stones throw from the legal "wilderness" and it was incredible. When it takes an hour to get to your PO Box or 2 hours to get to Costco you become very deliberate about your purchases. I'm not saying everyone needs that experience, but consumption has been so normalized since birth now that stepping outside of the whole thing is getting increasingly difficult.
My cervical cancer was just diagnosed as period pain until one out of the many doctors and specialists took me seriously.
The office chair you scored is the same one I have at work, it's so great 😃
Underconsumption core is not a style. It's a lifestyle. It's the lifestyle of the low income and disadvantaged and you glamorize others daily struggle with this. You're getting likes from fad followers and flipping a smiling middle finger to the people who don't CHOOSE to do this and have to to survive. 🤢🤮
I can’t believe I got a little emotional when the last girl said “I just want to see you outside for two hours enjoying the sun without headphones stuck to your scalp not selling products” In all this craziness of social media, we have lost that bit of peace that comes from not doing, not buying and just being. As if it’s unacceptable. But the good thing is we can with intention and a bit of grit, get it back. I want my slow mornings, reading a book, NOT concerned about the next new thing.
I opened the Pintrest just to spend some time in a “silent” and “quiet” social media. Sad to say that I couldn’t stay on even for a few seconds, couse 7 out 10 images in my feed were ADDS
This video is giving the financial diet. Like every single thing was said by her
@ParkrosePermaculture You asked folks to tag you in underconsumption core videos and it reminded me of this one.
The term you are looking for is "impoverishing".
thank you! Nice to learn a new word.
Books and music are my downfall but I usually buy used books or the library. I tend to buy music because I like supporting independent musicians.
I think buying art is actually getting MORE important to do, because so few people value art and the corporation (Looking at you Spotify and Amazon) have really undercut the value of art. So good on you for buying music and books!
Thanks for sharing 🎉
thanks for watching!
Congratulations for the book, looking forward to it!
thank you! More details to come soon!
Am I the only one who fast forwards through sponsored ads by TH-camrs? I’m tired of being sold to and hearing how I should buy this awesome thing. I have a TH-cam channel too and I do think it’s time for TH-camrs to find other ways to pay their bills 😅
