LA Fleet Week 2024 (Updated)
During LA Fleet Week in May of 2024, we had the privilege to host Aircraft Carrier, USS Carl Vinson, CVN 70. And what a great ship it is. It was quite a treat to go onboard with six or seven Navy personnel who took us for a winding walk through some spaces, p-ways, and ladders to reach the flight deck.

A lot of interest was generated when Battleship Iowa reenergized and rotated Turret #3 on 30 June 23. Some asked why it was done. This video shows the rotating T-3 interiors, shows why the turret had to be rotated, and shows the below-deck pathway the shells will take to transport them to Turret-1 for public tour viewing at a later date.

Rainy Day Line Pull 14 Jan 23 Fnl

In early January 2023, a number of significant storms hit California. The resulting storm surges caused the Battleship Iowa to move and role a great deal at its moorings. This excessive movement damaged a number of dock pilings and the ship's boarding ramps as the surges stretched and loosened the mooring lines. In this video, we tightened those mooring lines.

    Hey there. Ik you've seen me a bit asking for the returning ships series to come back but this time its huge. USS Carl Vison (CVN-70) Is attending fleet week this year, from what i know a carrier has never been to a fleet week so you have to try and film this one way or another. If the places the ship will be docked are blocked off, try getting a shot near or on high ground to a point where you can see the carrier arrive.

    • @bluehardhat315
      @bluehardhat315 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I will be taking both still and video of the Aircraft Carrier when the event begins on Friday 5-24-24. But the Navy is very quiet about the day and exact time that the ship will arrive at the outer harbor where it will be docked. So, I am planning no photos or video of the arrival. However. there's a rumor it may arrive on Wednesday. I may do a drive-by, but it will be a fluke if I happen to catch it coming in.

    • @Jumpjet_Halliel
      @Jumpjet_Halliel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mevenyo Note: The Sturmtigers rockets are meant to destroy buildings and not an anti-ship rocket. The superstructure can be destroyed but the ships superstructure is too big and the Sturmtuger takes too long to reload to be a significant threat, but the deck of these ships are reinforced, they may look like wood but that's for insulation only, underneath that is reinforced with metal and has multiple layers and since the Sturmtigers mortar is more of an HE than an AP, it's more of a threat for the crew than the actual ship, if you really wanna threaten the Iowa then why talk about a rocket mortar on a tank? when Bismarck has 8 381mm artillery that obliterated HMS Hood, better yet IJN Yamato's 9 460mm cannons. the Iowa's guns are 406mm and these ships are meant to survive damage from their own guns, so trying to pick a fight with a ship on a mortar artillery tank doesn't really make any sense, even all modern tanks today will be destroyed if these battleships fire their guns at it.

      @Jumpjet_Halliel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mevenyo then no, even if the Sturmtiger obliterated the superstructure if it fired hundreds of shots, it can't penetrate the ships hull armor and the explosion if it hit the deck wouldn't be enough to go through the layers of thick deck armor, all it would do is cripple the battleship top wise, but the inside of the ship, the important parts will be intact, imagine bruising someone in a fight but never knocking them down or stopping them, that's what would happen

    I had the pleasure of being aboard this magnificent battleship twice, once when she was in mothballs at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard back in 1982 and spent two weeks aboard her as she and her sisters were scheduled for modernization and re-entry into service. Second I was scheduled to pay a visit to her while she was in Newport, Rhode Island where I had engineering documents to be given to an officer aboard her. This was the first time seeing her under her own power. I had to take a shuttlecraft out to her. I had chills up and down my back to see this massive ship. And those same feelings again happened to watch this video to see this turret moving. I have great memories of her, and thanks for bringing the content of her here.

    Her spidey sense is tingling. She senses trouble. Given recent world events, I don't blame her. Also, it stands to be said that each of these turrets weighs 1,900 tons, or about 1,165.5 Honda Accords. I knew they'd need to rotate fast due to her speed of 30+ knots but I didn't realize it would look that fast. That's a lot of horses to turn that much weight that fast.
