This film is so moving. I was subjected to a judicial committee of 3 elders at 17. I was mortified by the questions and so embarrassed. I didn't even know what some of them were! It was totally inappropriate and looking back I wish I'd had the guts to tell them to get lost. Years later I managed to leave and also to see their behaviour for what it was. Thanks for this well produced and acted film 👍

So many of us have no one to go to. No one waiting for us outside this cult. So many don't make it. Your film is beautiful in its truth, but so very painful to watch. Thank you for making this. The subtlety of holding up Family Happiness books while having the saddest expressions in the world - it is masterful. The look of despair on her face shunning her own father, the darkness of the tone - I don’t even know what to say. This is so incredibly well done and, from someone who was in for over 40 years, this is 100% the truth. I am not sure how many resources Kamila had to do this short film, but you have exceeded anything done by the multi-billion dollar corporation masquerading as a religion that you are exposing. Well done!

Terrific job by all the actors. Especially the elders. I find it difficult to believe they are actors and not actual elders!

I feel like this film really shows what wrong with society. Like why can't two people comfort each other without it becoming sexual or physical? Why is it that in order to be in love, you have to have sex? This boy was comforting this girl over her father being disfellowshipped. But if he really loved her, he wouldn't have let things go so far for her reputation and spiritual health. And if he loved her so much that he just had to be with her physically, well, he should have married her. To me, this entire story is his fault. She was emotionally compromised, he was not. He knew what state of mind she was in, and instead of doing the responsible, kind and loving thing by stopping things from escalating, he took advantage of her. It's a sad story but overall, the main thing I took from it, is he didn't care for her the way he said he did or the way she thought he did. Someone that's willing to let you face the consequences for breaking the rules in the name if love, does not really love you. Cause sure, i understand that she didn't believe the act was repulsive. But based on her reaction at the end, doesn't it seem like she regretted it? Because that's the whole point, it was repulsive because she wasn't married to Sam. He didn't commit to her and he left her to deal with the consequences after he got what he wanted. He used her. The act was repulsive to Jehovah because he views sex as only for those who are committed. So by her saying she didn't find it repulsive showed she didn't have Jehovah’s attitude so she deserved to be disfellowshipped. Her mom told her to be honest. If that's that how the girl really felt, she shouldn't be a member of the congregation nor should she have gotten baptized because she places her views over Jehovah’s. If you don't see things the way Jehovah does, being a JW is not for you. Hate to be brutally honest but it's that simple. Honestly, i understand how uncomfortable the brothers who were asking so many seemingly invasive questions must have been. But they were just trying to figure out if she was pregnant or not. She said she had unprotected sex with Sam. So every question they asked would help determine if she was pregnant because she said she didn't know. You can tell by the order of the questions. They asked if the sex was protected or not. She said it wasn't. Then they asked if she was pregnant. She said she didn't know. So asking her the details after that was to ascertain whether she got pregnant. And that's important because that will determine if her sin becomes public knowledge or not. That's the difference between public and private reproof. If you commit a disfellowshipping offense the matter is not known, you can be privately reproved. However if the matter is publicly known, you have to be publicly reproved from the stage so friends in the congregation will understand that the sin has been handled. And if a single sister becomes pregnant, well, that's going to be publicly known. So the brothers were trying to assess if she was pregnant or not as that would determine if the reproof would be private or public. It's not like they can publicly reprove her months later if she started showing. But in this case, because she refused to accept Jehovah’s view on the matter, she ended up being disfellowshipped.

I'm a grown ass woman in my 40's. Baptized in my early 20's ( convert). I met a 'Brother' we dated for 3 months then started making plan for marriage ( both of our 2nd marriage). We had sex multiple times in the month before we got married. We're adults & we're not virgins. But we DID get married. Anyway, he committed adultery a year later & I went to the elders because I wanted a divorce. To spite me, my ex went to the elders to tell of our premarital fornication. He knew he was being DF'd for adultery so he wanted to get me DF'd as well. Had been on 20 years & never had a JC for anything. And it was pretty much exactly like this! All the dirty details & alot on the JC were younger men -- it was all weird & uncomfortable.

"ALL THIS DETAIL" - These perverts love it - they sit within these JC's [Judicial Committees] reeling with feelings of power and as some have hinted, perhaps having a great thrill from it. Regretfully, I have been on these Tribunals. The movie is accurate.

This is so well done and accurate. Just like my committee meeting. Pervs asking unnecessary questions. The person I had s*x with betrayed me too. Showed false remorse and then shunned me. But in the end we disfellowshipped are better off. No one needs conditional love. Since I left I have made real friends and new family. ❤

This is incredible. Its the first video I’ve seen that manages to capture the emotional/mental/spiritual turmoil and agony of the process of being a child (I was 11) who was unethically encouraged and irresponsibly permitted to dedicate their life to Jehovah *years* before they were capable of understanding what that means, made mistakes, was judged by men (who are in no position to judge local food contests.. let alone someone’s heart in order to decide whether they should be disfellowshipped), and then being shunned by everyone they’ve ever known and loved. As an aside, I personally find the fact that they are *finally* acknowledging how cruel, unscriptural, and torturous their process of dedication, baptism, judicial committees, disfellowshipping, and shunning is *solely* because they lost money and government protections in Norway to be more insultingly evil than the actual process they’ve been using for decades.

Such a destructive cult. They don’t know what love and empathy is… only till their human leaders from NY are changing the rules that are not based on any Bible scripture. Like when changing the rule for wearing a beard: till December 2023 people was disfellowshipped for wearing a beard, but afterwards they allowed it (saying that the rule was not scriptural). Of course, not they don’t admit that they were not allowing a beard in the first place.. brainwashing. Same thing will happen for blood transfusions and shunning… too bad that some people will die before they change the rules again.

Holy hell I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Showing my friends a calvacade of news reports, court cases, and TH-camrs makes me look like a conspiracy theorist. But this is a work of art.

this is extremely well done and very true to life. to the point i haven't been able to watch the entire thing in sequence. because going through this experience is every bit as traumatic as it's presented here, right down to 'that one elder' who clearly seems to be enjoying the sexually explicit questioning. i've only been able to watch a little at a time...but thank you for telling the truth so powerfully with this short story.

Film miał potencjał, ale uważam ze jest on tylko dla wykluczonych, świadków tylko umocni w swojej pozycji a szkoda. Z jednej strony pełna profeska, klimat, gra aktorska, emocje. Z drugiej przerysowany, opowiedziany bardziej oczami wykluczonych a nie osób będących na miejscu tej dziewczyny. Starsi nie straszą aż tak ordynarnie wykluczeniem, a osoby na komitecie nie rzadko aż tak "wyzwolono" podchodzą do tematu. Szkoda.

Jakoś podczas studiowania Biblii ze ŚJ nikt mi nie powiedział o jeszcze wspanialszej księdze dla Starszych od CK. To na podstawie wytycznych w niej zawartych, Starsi podejmują decyzje, jak mają postępować z osobami zapraszanymi na spotkania i komitety ze Starszymi. To nie ma nic wspólnego z jakąkolwiek empatią czy miłością, o której tyle mówią. Oni mają tylko za zadanie wydobyć wszystkie szczegóły, żeby sporządzić pełny raport potwierdzający powody wykluczenia. Zachowują się jak bezduszne urzędasy, a nie pasterze. Korzystają ze swojej pozycji, jaką ich uhonorowano w tym zborze i panoszą się szczególnie nad kobietami, bo przecież są ponad nimi w hierarchii. Karmią tą władzą swoje małe ego i to w imię Boga miłości. Jak dobrze, że tyle osób się budzi.

Film bardzo wiernie przedstawia przykładowy Komitet Sądowniczy przeprowadzany w zborach Świadków Jehowy przez wytypowanych trzech tzw. Starszych z tzw. Grona Starszych. Sprawa grzechu pożycia przed ślubem pomiędzy tą parą młodych jest dość typowa w zborach ŚJ, jestem przekonany, że w każdym zborze Świadków Jehowy znalazłby się przynajmniej jeden taki przypadek, tak jak ostracyzm wobec najbliższej rodziny. Pozdrawiam i życzę jak największej oglądalności.

Jakbym przeżyła swój komitet jeszcze raz.... dziękuję Ci za pokazanie światu jak wygląda ta cała organizacja od środka
